Current situation with the Thai embassy in Phnom Phen? Change from Non-B to tourist and later again to Non-B?
I didn't ask and don't care. Sorry for no better information.

Bank Statements for Tourist Visa
I had a business visa (extension) for many years. Now I applied for a tourist visa. They told me already that I will only get one tourist visa now and I won't be allowed to apply for another tourist visa after this one expires. That is no problem for me. But I am sure it is a problem for people who try to be tourists for a long time.

How to deal with an overwhelmingly negative opinion of Thai people.
Let's turn this around for a moment: Are there any people which you avoid? Personally, I don't want to sit near someone who looks aggressive, is dirty, talks loud on the phone, an influencer, the list goes on and on. We all have our preferences. Probably I won't stand up right away because a person is not "perfect". But most likely I look for another place if a new arriving person looks like headache or problems.

I don't think the problem is "a farang". The problem is most likely this specific farang, YOU. Lots of farangs don't have the problems which you describe. There might be reasons like: You smoke, or you smell bad, or your clothes are dirty, or you look like a criminal, or you look like a predator, or 100 other possible reasons.

Bank Statements for Tourist Visa
The Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh wants to see at least 1000 USD for a single person or 2000 USD for a family. That is according to their website. I gave them a copy of my up to date Thai bank book with more than that amount and that seemed to be good enough.

Current situation with the Thai embassy in Phnom Phen? Change from Non-B to tourist and later again to Non-B?
This is the situation from the Thai Embassy Phnom Penh from today. According to the officer it is only possible to apply for a tourist visa one time. When the same person returns in 2 or 3 months then the person can apply for another visa, i.e. Non-B but won't be allowed to apply again for a tourist visa.

Simple device to monitor the local internet?
I ordered a couple of those Sonoff switches, and I will install them probably next week. Then I will report if they do what I want (see above).

Does Permanent Residency holder have any benefit on buying Thai property?
If you have the money, then I don't think it makes a difference. If you have to borrow money from a bank, then it seems to make a big difference.

Would you try Lab grown meat ?
No - as long as real meat exists why should I try artificial "meat"? It's like eating strawberries or something that is supposed to look like and taste like strawberries. What's the point of eating the imitate?

Bad business decisions, company can't pay salaries, can't pay severance payments, and then?
Do you know if there is an order when people are paid? I know tax payments are highest priority. But then, will employees who didn't receive their salary for 5 months get their money before employees who didn't receive money for 1 month? Something like that?
-
Bad business decisions, company can't pay salaries, can't pay severance payments, and then?
Yes, a limited company. Until now there is no bankruptcy.

Bad business decisions, company can't pay salaries, can't pay severance payments, and then?
A Thai company exists since years, Thai employees, a few farang employees. For years business is fine, and everybody gets paid. Then the boss makes not so smart business decisions, and the company does not make any profit anymore. The salaries are paid late, and then, for some employees, not paid at all. And then the boss decides to fire people because he can't pay them anymore. Salaries are outstanding, and severance payments should be paid to some ex-employees. A few people are still working in the company, and they still receive their salaries, maybe late. The boss tells the fired employees: I can't pay you now. Wait until I make money and then I will pay you. He refuses to make any promises when and how much money will be paid. And now? As far as I know the ex-employees can go to the labor department, tell the officials the situation, and then those officials will write a letter to the company that those outstanding salaries and severance payments have to be paid. But the company has no money and can't pay. And then? What happens next? Will the employer be forces to pay first old outstanding salaries for ex-employees before current salaries are paid? How about severance payments? When does the company have to pay? And if the company just can't pay, will the director(s) be held personally responsible? Or the shareholders? Will the labor department shut down the company? What can the ex-employees do to get the money they earned?

Why Pheu Thai’s thinking is democratically wrong
In which way? Thai politics is, or at least was, always about influence and money. Political goals? Who cares? The politicians in the most lucrative positions make the most money. That counts. Let's look if Move Forward will change this system. I try to keep an open mind.

Simple device to monitor the local internet?
I there some little device which can be connected to a router or maybe WLAN which monitors the internet? And maybe shows an alarm on an app if the internet or WLAN doesn't work? I guess I could create something like that with an ESP32. But I am sure someone else invented that already. And maybe they sell it cheap on Lazada or AliExpress or similar. But what is the name of such a device? Any ideas? Recently the electricity was off in a place which I don't visit regularly and because of that the internet was off. I didn't notice for a few days. With a little device and app like described above that should be easy to detect and monitor.

Current situation with the Thai embassy in Phnom Phen? Change from Non-B to tourist and later again to Non-B?
A couple of years ago I applied in the Thai embassy in Phnom Phen for a Non-B visa. At that time, I had to submit the documents in the morning. And then I could pick up the passport with visa two days later in the afternoon. I.e. apply Monday morning, receive passport Wednesday afternoon. Now my employment ends and I want to apply for a tourist visa for two months. And then, in about two months, I want to go there again to apply for a new Non-B visa with new documentation from a new company. I have the following questions: a) Is it still the same that we have to apply one day in the morning and two days later in the afternoon it should be ready? Is that the same processing time for business and tourist visas? b) Are there any complications to apply for a tourist visa after having a business visa for many years? If they ask, should I tell them already that I will apply again for the Non-B visa after maybe two months when I have the new documentation? c) I read on the embassy website in Cambodia that I need "Evidence of travel in and out of Thailand (i.e. air ticket receipt paid in full)". I guess that means one return ticked from BKK to PNH to BKK is not good enough, because I have no ticket to leave Thailand after my tourist visa expires. I guess for that reason I have to buy already a second ticket BKK to PNH to BKK for two months in the future to cover that requirement. Correct? d) There is a field permanent address on the application form. My permanent address is my condominium in Bangkok which I own. But at the same time, I apply for a tourist visa to visit Thailand. All this might be a little confusing for the person at the embassy counter. I don't want to argue with them about all these details. Any advice? Thanks

A Thai Limited company can't pay the salaries anymore. Legal consequences?
What is the legal situation with this: A Thai Limited company, maybe registered with 6m THB, has a couple of employees since many years. Then the boss makes stupid decisions, no incoming money anymore, the company is unable to pay salaries. And if the company fires long time employees the company can't pay severance payments. Do the employees just have to accept reality, there is no money anymore, and go home? Is the GM or maybe the shareholders responsible to put up their own money to pay for outstanding salaries, etc.?

End of employment, end of Non-B visa, what happens next?
What is the procedure if a foreigner has a valid Non-B visa and work permit and then then the person stops working in that company? I guess the company will report to the authorities that the person is not employed anymore on date x. And that means from that day on the visa and work permit are not valid anymore. Is it necessary or common procedure that the employee has to give the passport and work permit to the employer so that they show them to the authorities, and they will mark them invalid? Or is that not necessary and usually it doesn't happen? And what is the status of the foreigner, who is still in the country, after the business visa expires? Does he then have no valid visa from that day on? Or does the status change automatically to tourist visa for maybe 30 days or so? Should the employee visit the immigration on or near the last day of employment to change to a tourist visa? Or does the employee have to leave the country and apply for a new visa or enter the country without visa to get a 30-day stamp? Thanks for any information.

Foodland, especially Foodland Sukhumvit Soi 5 in Bangkok - why is it so empty?
I like in lower Sukhumvit since decades. For all that time Foodland in Soi 5 was my main supermarket. I go there almost daily. In Covid times the whole area, including Foodland, was almost empty. No surprise. But even after Covid Foodland has maybe only 10% or 20% of the customers which it used to have - at least in my subjective experience. Why? As far as I know there are a few other supermarkets in the area, but IMHO nothing better than Foodland. Now, with the fewer customers, they also have fewer service people in the shop. It's a slow downhill spiral. Does anybody know what is going on or have a good idea for some reason(s)? Took Lae Dee restaurant, within Foodland Soi 5, is also almost empty.

Have you ever witnessed that a farang was beaten up by Thais without any reason?
From time to time we have news stories about fights. Sometimes guards are involved and often a group of people beat up a single person. Did you ever witness anything like that? Are you concerned it could happen to you? Personally, I saw this happening a couple of times. And it was never unprovoked. People didn't want to pay their bill, or they though they can call Thais bad names, or maybe take pictures in forbidden areas, etc. It seems in most of these cases the fights could have been avoided by paying the bill, apologizing, and not behaving like an idiot. Personally, I would be careful going into areas with drunk guys who look for trouble. But that applies to countries all over the world. I don't behave like an idiot and consequently I don't get attacked. How about you? Did anybody in Thailand ever attack you for no reason? Did you see fights for no reason? P.S.: If someone thinks they can just walk out without paying their bill then for me that is just plain stupid and asking for trouble. If people like that get beat up, then they deserve it - IMHO.

Designer clothes: Do you like them, want them, wear them? Why? Or why not?
I was inspired to this by a news article about a Thai laundry which apparently ruined expensive designer clothes. That could never happen to me because I don't own any designer clothes because I never saw a reason to buy them or to wear them. Historically I couldn't afford them, so I never even though about buying them. T-shirts from Sukhumvit always did the job for me. Now I could afford more expensive clothes, but I don't see why I should spend 5 or 10 or 50 times for such "designer" items. How about you? Do you like designer clothes? Why? Maybe they are really better, and I am just ignorant, that is entirely possible. I have no problem spending a couple of thousand THB on decent shoes, i.e. Hush Puppies. I do that because they are comfortable and sturdy. With clothes I just don't see big differences.

Anchors for perforated bricks?
What kind of anchors are best for perforated bricks? (I don't know if that is the correct term for these bricks.) If I use "normal" anchors like below (from HomePro) this works in part. But maybe half the anchor is in the hole of the brick. Not good. Are there special anchors for these bricks? How are they called? Do you have a link from a shop in Thailand? Thanks The bricks for which I need anchors: I used these. They are just about good enough to hang a picture or something similar. But definitely not good for heavy load. This is a general question. I might want to hang a picture on the wall or maybe something heavy. Thanks

Cable trays in condominium?
I like to use cable trays under the ceiling in my new condominium to make cabling and cable maintenance easy. It seems most of the time this is only used in industry and maybe offices. What do you think about this? Here is some more information: I am renovating my condominium from scratch. All the old wiring is already removed. I plan to install lots of LED lights, sensors, home automation, etc. Most of this I will do myself with HomeAssistant, NSPanels, etc. Some will be installed right away but likely I will add things later on. A long time ago when I was young I worked a couple of months for an electrical installation company. I helped them with electrical installations in houses and industry. I think the way things are done in industry (including offices) if a lot better to work on and maintain than the typical house wiring. This is why I want to use cable trays instead of the usual pipes along the ceiling. I plan to use cable trays separated for high voltage (220V) and low voltage (24V for LEDs, LAN, PoE (48V), etc.) I plan to install the cable trays between the concrete ceiling and ceiling tiles. That will make it very easy to access it. This is an example of such cable tray. The picture does not show ceiling panels (like I plan to use). I plan to use maybe something like this, not sure yet: https://th.rs-online.com/web/p/cable-trays/7707058 For the record: A qualified Thai electrical engineer will make sure that all is according to the regulations.

Good tool brand in Thailand?
I want to buy some electric power tools. They should have good quality and service in Thailand. I checked a couple of websites of brands like Bosch, DeWalt, Makita and it seems all of them have just a small part of the products in Thailand compared to the USA or Europe. Which brands do you use and do you have any experience with the service in Thailand? In the moment this is a general question not specific to one tool. I think also about battery powered tools and for them it makes a lot of sense to have everything from the same brand with the same battery packs.
