  1. You can practice from inside a shop or massage parlour by trying to read what's written on the outside of the window. When I'm bored, I'm very very bored! And they will know to test the stamp by a few trial stamps, I guess. If they can't read it, well, there's a reason, right?
  2. How about 3%? Much easier to understand.
  3. Is that "there" instead of "their"?
  4. Take your point, but in 2 weeks anything perishable is going to go right off. I had that experience recently. Had to throw away meat and veg and all dairy.
  5. This is the relevant case. The others for some reason all got larger fines and heftier sentences, suspended. I don't know what "acquiring funds illegally" means. Dealing?
  6. Do you mean Khon Jeen? Chinese person/people? Like Khon Farang, Khon Kairk, Khon Allab, etc etc. Khun Jeen means something else, a respectful form of address to someone called Jeen.
  7. Protected by their colleagues and senior officers. Impunity almost same as immunity. Until the wheels come off, and the lid!
  8. 3,186,186 is the total from their listed nationalities. But to say these don't include migrants is a bit hard to believe. Over 900,000 *tourists* from Cambodia and Laos? Same as from India and Singapore? Nah, no sale. And as for the other 4 million? The usual TAT.
  9. 2100 THB fine? £50? Why bother? Who was given 1 month, and who 2? Ditto the 8-16k fines? Are they deterrents or inducements? Pay 2000 THB and you can do what you like for an evening! Ah well, who cares?
  10. Seems a bit naive to imagine the police would bail you out of doing something illegal. No doubt though, these casinos seem to be run by thugs. Trouble is, the bib are nearly always implicated. The whole thing is rotten to the core. Gambling is like any hard drug. Addictive and ruinous. The casino operator thugs know their customers.
  11. Hope you don't get a power outage with those fridges running.
  12. Not so. I've met a few Chinese here in Pattaya. Not the gambling mafia call centre scammer types, but normal like you and me tourists, long stayers, digital nomads. They say it's ok leaving, depending where from, of course, but getting back in can be a problem. Quarantine and numerous checks. China is a big country. I think maybe it varies province to province, and depends a lot on the 0 COVID rules at that time and place. If Thailand wants to attract educated, intelligent, long stay migrants they should hurry up the process of issuing digital nomad visas, and drop the forever "we want high net worth applicants who are damn fool enough to hand over 40m in order to buy 1600 sq m of land".
  13. I don't see anywhere the results of his investigation, just an update to an ongoing investigation. She had some amphetamine in her body. So what? And the 4 guys breaking into her room? And all this happened on the night of September 16th, 6 weeks ago.
  14. Or Dr. You have 3 months to live, and here's my bill Patient. But I can't pay that! Dr. Ok, have another 3 months!
  15. 10,000 THB compensation? To keep quiet? And the council has no public liability insurance? What happens when somebody falls down an open drain, trips on the endless repaving, gets strung up by a dangling wire? Of course. "Mayor pays from his own pocket". As if! Note, just saw above post
  16. So you'd shoot yourself, right?
  17. Yes, Makro is not that reliable. The Sukhumvit road branch was out of it, so were both big Cs and Lotus. But the Makro on p. nua had lots of it. Some of the supermarkets here don't seem to have stock control systems or if they do, they don't seem to work very well. It's a real hit and miss affair.
  18. When I last checked, ie at my last notification, there were maybe 4 or 5 pages. I'd already made up my mind what I was going to do by then. I don't want to upload the letter because 1 it is between AA and their clients, and 2 there may be issues I don't want to get involved in, in publishing it. I'm sure if people were that interested they would visit the office themselves. AA are a good company in my experience. I am signed up with Wrlife for better or worse. I did visit one other broker in person, which was MTL on Pattaya Tai, close to the 3rd Road junction. They were also very helpful. They offered me a more expensive policy, but with more cover. They might well be worth a visit. They are a Thai company, but the policy is bilingual. The 2 ladies I spoke to speak good English. I think that's it for now. I never imagined this thread would run so long, so my apologies for not reading every post. I read a fair amount on AN. Some I just skim through though. I hope people find what they're looking for in the way of insurance, or something like it. BTW, two separate brokers and an insurer, confirmed my health policy would cover an accident that leads to inpatient treatment. So I've not renewed my Personal Accident Insurance.
  19. I can't read through 8 pages of this thread, but just to say AA now issue a disclaimer regarding Wrlife. Although they still offer their policies, they have a list of 3 caveats. I don't have a copy to hand but I'm sure anyone that's interested could drop by their office and pick one up.
  20. It's 500 at Jomtien Hospital, so I'd count 826 as expensive. Over 60% more.
  21. Once again, flu or COVID?
  22. Yes I know. I started it. But the poster doesn't say if the 650 was for a flu or COVID jab. Seems expensive for a flu jab, and cheap for a COVID jab.
  23. For flu, or COVID?
  24. Hmmm, maybe but 800 for Moderna and 500 for flu. Flu at public hospital only for Thais. No have.
