  1. Is that the place that has a great Massaman on Klang?
  2. Totally agree. I've not read of any pending amendments. They certainly won't touch 112 which is Taksin's next hurdle. 112 of course isn't part of the Constitution, but part of the Thai penal code, so I don't know what he is referring to.
  3. Luxury! I did keto for 18 months. No rice, bread, potatoes, pasta and almost zero fruit. Back on the carbs now, I have to admit.
  4. I had a great vegetarian paneng curry there a long time ago. There's a vegan restaurant near me, in Pratamnak, Soi 7 Thappraya, aka Soi Moscow. I regularly order egg fried rice in the Thai eatery I frequent in Thepprasit. Just 60 THB with unlimited trimmings, basil, bean sprouts, chilis, cucumber , lettuce etc etc, and water. Dek Sen. Open 24 hours. You can get basmati rice with a Thali, Indian all in one vegetarian tray. About 150 THB. Try India town, 2nd road, next to walking st area. Basmati is such a treat after Thai rice.
  5. GG you ruined everything. A one liner would have sufficed, but no, you had to splatter the remains of your brain all over the forum. But, I have to thank you for introducing this topic, as I have observed my tendency to chuckle at everything throughout the day. Chuckling is definitely a privilege reserved for advanced years. Haha, hoho, the young are at it again! Poor suckers. When will they ever learn?
  6. That's a bit obvious. I think he was looking for Thai words for different species of ebony.
  7. It's not going to happen, is it? MFP has been dissolved. Pita's in the US. You're living in cloud cuckoo land.
  8. In common parlance (call it woke, call it PC) it's ageism. It's not generally tolerated in the West. On this forum, all forms of bigotry are tolerated. Just read the American election threads! The unwoke call it free speech.
  9. Prayut is not the leader nor even a member of the United Thai Nation party, which is what the Ruam Thai Sang Chart party became. He was appointed a privy councillor in mid July 2023, and thus is barred from belonging to any political party. He resigned from politics on the spot. But as a PC, who knows what influence that body of ultra royalists brings to bear on Thai politics.
  10. Neither of which is a species of ebony! Maybe try here: http://www.tropicaltimber.info/specie/black-ebony-diospyros-pilosanthera/ It lists a lot of different names for ebony from all round the world. It looks like Laos has some interesting outlets for beautiful carved ebony. They might be useful too: https://carusocreations.com/en/ I bought a set of 3 seated Buddhas in Yangon years ago that the seller said were ebony. They are brown striped pieces. But I suspect they are resin moulds. The detail and colouring is amazing, whatever they're made from. I think there maybe a lot of fakes around. I don't know how to tell. I tried drilling a very small hole in the base of one, but it was inconclusive. Any ideas how to test for authenticity?
  11. I wouldn't give that any credence whatsoever. Do you have any sources? There would be riots. I don't think the government has any reliable figures on any subject at all. Tourism, property purchases, prices, income tax. The various ministries just make to measure.
  12. I said "run". She's down the cop shop making a complaint on behalf of her business. That's working. Maybe not illegally if she has a work permit. And maybe legally she owns 49% of the business. Who knows? I'll be setting a few more "Spot the deliberate mistake" puzzles so keep the corrections coming, Lou. Good job.
  13. How does she run a bike rental business? Married to a Thai?
  14. 3 colonels, a tip off, covert surveillance, and a "raid". For laughing gas!
  15. Reminds me of the Spike Milligan ditty I must go down to the seas again The lonely sea and the sky I left my shoes and socks there I wonder if they're dry?
  16. You mean, bend over? Seems your "critique" of Kamala is just a series of misogynistic personal attacks. Her teeth, the colour of her skin, her laugh, her background. What's really your problem with her? Her ethnicity? She's smarter than you? Why are you waiting for my critique of Biden? I done owe you anything.
  17. Where did I correct him on his use of CIA and FBI? I corrected him on his use of "is" with plural nouns.
  18. Yeah, but it was used as a weapon to shut down a lot of artists, writers, journalists and playwrights, to name only a few. The witch hunts were always prefaced with the infamous words "Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the communist party?" It's happening here. A petition is lodged. An "ethics committee" is set up. A kangaroo court. A collection of right wing judges. Result? 3 to 5 years in Klong Prem. For ethical breaches.
  19. I don't see how China and Russia are to blame. They've seen what happened in the US and they've just capitalized on the sheer lunacy of it. But there's a new wave of thinly disguised bigotry and hate coming from America. It's been going on since early Trump days, but I really believe he ushered in this new era of in yer face I'll say what I like and if you don't like it, f off. Thing is, pre internet, you couldn't get away with it down the pub, as somebody would simply give you a slap, and down you'd go. Or not. Now of course, we don't even know to whom or what we're talking, so the whole thing is just farcical. It's just an endless argument. The rise of the conspiracy theorists and disinformation actors too. I mean thousands make a living out of generating lies and BS. And they're famous! Tucker, Loomer, Taylor, Wohl, Buckman, Jones. There's thousands of them. Yeah, leftist has become the insult of choice, followed by Marxist, liberal, etc etc. Commila? Democrats are Marxists? Yeah Trump's to blame for sure.
  20. I wasn't referring to the OP's workmate, but to Quiboloy. The self styled "owner of the Universe". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Quiboloy
  21. Er, is there agents? Is there secrets? The plural nouns are secrets and agents, not CIA or FBI. They're adjectives if you like.
  22. Found it. Managed to translate too. It doesn't mention who the authors is/are. But it comes from the National Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation Policy Council. NXPO for short. Membership includes all the senior politicians. But no introductory remarks. No idea what the beef is. Unethical research? It doesn't give any examples. Could be ring fencing certain areas of research, and setting them off limits for critical appraisal. I can think of examples, but can't mention them.
