  1. I have no idea how old you are, and you have no idea what my physical capabilities are, or what my routines are, so don't try and tell me 80 is nothing just because you know an 80 year old that climbs Everest on the weekends. I don't need your advice pushed down my throat, so leave off, or join my block list. Up to you.
  2. 80 is nothing? Seriously, when most men only live to mid 80's if they're lucky. How old are you, 50? Listen, I know you mean well, but I've really heard enough from you OK?
  3. Did I mention that I'm coming up for 80? Yeah, I know that there are guys who run marathons at 80, but that's not me.
  4. That's true, I just bought Valium 10mg at my local pharmacy which I wouldn't be able to do in most western countries. My point is that I can buy St Johns wort from Iherb, or even Lazada, but I can't buy antidepressants from them. Anyway, I've dropped the St Johns wort idea after hearing that it may actually make anxiety worse.
  5. I think all those contacts are in Bangkok, I need someone in Pattaya. My mistake, there are a couple listed for Pattaya, one is a family counselor, not sure if that's what I need. I'll see what Bangkok hospital has to offer. Thanks
  6. Already taking a heap of vitamins now, like magnesium, fish oil, vitamin B, NAC etc.
  7. I guess finding a therapist who can communicate well with falangs will be the first step.
  8. I did take Clonazepam, which is the same as Valium, for a while, mainly to help me sleep. It works very well, but it doesn't take long to become addicted. I gave it away after a couple of weeks for that reason.
  9. Had the same problem about 3 years ago, had a full medical, all OK except for high BP which I already take meds for, that and gout. Had several medicals and blood tests since then, everything good for my age. The symptoms I had 3 years ago are the same as I'm experiencing now, and they eventually passed without taking antidepressants, so I'm hoping the same thing will happen now. It's horrible while it lasts though.
  10. I did find that Clonozapam helped with the anxiety and guaranteed a good night's sleep, but too addictive for any long term use.
  11. Not sure my one cup of a coffee a day does much damage, and haven't had a smoke for about 8 years.
  12. What do you use for RLS as I have had the same problem for years? Haven't found anything to successfully treat it. I don't believe St Johns wort is addictive, so probably no need to wean off. Yes, have been with the same Thai partner for nearly 12 years, couldn't wish for better, but she can't help much with depression.
  13. I doubt St Johns wort would be freely available if it posed a significant health risk.
  14. Are you touting for business, because all your advice is pretty generic. Will all be revealed if I sign up for some one on one guidance?
  15. All I know is St John's wort is readily available without prescription, whereas all of the man made antidepressants are not. What does that tell you?
  16. The last time I had an anxiety attack followed by depression the doctor prescribed Clonazepam which I think is similar, it works but is very addictive.
  17. Thanks for the advice Sheryl, but this feeling of anxiety and depression can become pretty overwhelming and I'm not sure I could keep on going without some changes. With the panic attacks/anxiety it becomes overpowering and I have no choice but to go for a walk as I feel the walls closing in.
  18. It's a mystery, a chemical imbalance perhaps?
  19. Thought i already mentioned I walk my dog twice a day.
  20. What leads you to believe I'm set in my ways, because I walk the dog and have a cup of coffee everyday? I haven't resorted to medication yet and I may try a natural remedy like St John's wort before I do. Comparing what your relatives do to others is meaningless, there's no one size fits all. I'm relatively healthy at 79, others less so, some already dead.
  21. Haven't smoked for years, one cup of coffee with breakfast, enjoy one glass of red wine a day, walk the dog twice a day.
  22. Woke up a few days ago with a panic/anxiety attack. This eventually passed but what followed is severe depression. I might mention that I am now 79, so age may well be a contributing factor. Obviously a visit to see a doctor at Bkk/Pattaya hospital is in order, but am curious as to how the doctor will know which antidepressants to prescribe, if needed, as there seems like there's a lot of choices. Would like to know others experiences with antidepressants.
