  1. Vietnam has low cost quality private hospitals in.its largest cities. Blood testing was about 15 - 60% cheaper than what I'd been quoted in Thailand. Endoscopy/Colonoscopy combined was about $250 USD. I'm surprised this is not heavily promoted.
  2. Where did you get "Fils De"?
  3. Those who bring plastic to Recyclers - Do they accept and pay for all kinds of plastic or only the type used for (refrigerated) water sold in convenience stores?
  4. Disgusting to keep/eat it. 1) Return to store, or else 2) Dispose of it.

  6. @FolkGuitar - What is her name?
  7. Agree - but I suggest calling and making sure the male owner will be there.
  8. Long ago - summer in St. Tropez, a crowd of people around a stand selling t-shirts, a fit woman perhaps 30's to 40's casually took off her blouse, braless, tried on a t-shirt. Didn't cause a scene. (Unfortunately this has not caught on). I think anyone who would be upset by this has the mental health issues.
  9. She was wearing a bra and underpants so what is the big deal? I thought she was totally naked when I read the headline and glanced at the pic. Unusual behavior but not "a nutter" based on that.
  10. Thank you! Very helpful. And it spurred me to finally sit down and set up a new Map/Route app and study how to use it, which I'm working on right now. @FolkGuitar - Apologies! Apparently your directions were fine and I blew it on finding it.
  11. I wear soft Contact Lenses every day. I have read from the net and possibly also in this subforum that (Contact Lenses change the shape of the eye and) it is necessary to stop wearing them prior to eye measurements for cataract surgery. If you were in this situation, how long were you instructed to stop wearing them before the eye measurements? I've seen times ranging from 3 days to 4 - 6 weeks. Thank you.
  12. @FolkGuitar I would like to go there for glasses - wandered around yesterday trying to find it. "...her shop is located 50m on the right down Ratvithi Soi 1 off Moon Muang Rd." There is no Eye Glass shop on Ratvithi Soi 1 (the street sign in English says "Ratvithi Lane 1"). There is "The Corner Inn", motel like apts. next door, a children's nursery. Not any abandoned shop space that could have been it. Tried a Search, called a # but not enough English to understand, and seemed like the wrong place anyway. Do you have a street address, lat./long, phone #, etc.? "...off Moon Muang Rd." Do you mean it intersects Moon Mueang? Ratvithi Soi 1 does not. The sign you showed mentions a possible clinic but couldn't track it down searching that name either. I also have the same question that DesLez asked - "What is her English like"?
  13. About 40 THB/hour?
  14. "The campaign is officially running from December 1st to December 10th...". Nice of them to provide a heads up of when it will be safe for overstayers to return.
  15. In 2020 Vietnam had a total of 30 something to 40 something deaths nationwide due to Covid, in a country with 30% more population than Thailand. They had also offered 1 year Tourist Visas, and I believe even longer ones. They lost their edge on Covid in 2021. Someone in the Gov't. also lost his mind - in mid 2021 they began ceasing to renew Tourist Visas for people who entered prior to I think it was March 2021. People who had been there for years with pets, leases, etc., had to leave with almost no notice, with Vietnam showing zero compassion. Beginning about Jan. 2022 they stopped giving free Covid extensions to the remaining foreigners, who were likewise - unnecessarly - given a very short notice to get out. So they managed to destroy tons of good will they had achieved prior. Meanwhile Thailand kept offering Covid extensions. Currently Vietnam only offers a 30 day non-renewable Tourist Visa. They have totally destroyed all they had achieved with their Tourism reputation, while Thailand has gone the other way by offering/continuing to offer extendable Tourist Visas, Visa Exempt, annual Retirement Extensions, etc.
  16. He is 51 and has been legally living in Thailand for years. How? What Imm. status?
  17. Re: UK DL - If I understand the posts correctly - Some have posted that if one uses an address for the DL that one no longer resides at - if the police stop you and check to see if you are registered at that address... I don't understand this - they check where/how to find out? The DL gives an address - what "actual registered address" is being referred to? How can the police check to find out if one actually resides at the DL address?
  18. Crazy problematic system but apologies from me for calling your post nonsense and ridiculous.
  19. Total nonsense. Somebody moves, doesn't update addy on DL, innocent new resident at that address has bailiffs enter and take possession of items. 1 of hundreds of reasons why your statement is ridiculous.
  20. Exactly. Will do a home country return if necessary to renew although it shouldn't be necessary - when I inquired a few years ago was told they will accept an eye exam done abroad. Other than this, no plan or desire to ever return to home country.
  21. @Sheryl Sheryl - Do you foresee any possible problems if I write "Vitamins" on the Customs paper? I.e., has Customs equated that with "Drugs"/"Medicine" needing FDA involvement? I keep the value of items I have shipped to Thailand under 1500 THB so no Import Fees/VAT.
  22. [ @actonion Off topic to this thread - but a recent post described an experience with either Urolift or Rezum - he kept sarcastically referring to "this unobtrusive procedure" while describing his agony urinating for a long time after the procedure. Spent time searching for it but can't find it. Good luck.]
  23. Urologist prescribed it. More negative patient reviews I've read than positive. Trying Saw Palmetto and recently added Pygeum also, but having no effect. Ordered Stinging Nettles. If the herbs have no effect, considering trying the medication but very interested in what others have experienced.
