Another Farang who ran out of money, nothing new, move on.

Yes good but you are in thailand not India you have to understand thai drives are the worst in the world go have a look at the driveing test and come back here and tell us what you think then, it is a f??king joke .A 3-week visit to India cured me of ever complaning about traffic and drivers in Thailand.
Many old Farangs get motorcycle licences taking a Thai driving test, then become a danger to themselves and every other road user, is that what you're saying ?

Finally, someone with some sense! I agree with pretty much everything in the OP. Having driven in the USA, as well as some other Asian and Latin American countries, I find driving in Thailand to be just fine. And the stats you quoted are correct. Most of the fatalities in Thailand are on motorcycles. Funny how the Thai-bashers are always quoting that fatality statistic without ever considering the reasons. On any given day--and very similar to the US--I find maybe around 5% of drivers are aggressive jerks. The other 95% are just fine...although something that irritates me even more than the aggressive drivers are the slow and meek drivers. I think some farangs in Thailand may be in that latter category.
Something people aren't willing to admit is that for a country with very little traffic enforcement, the Thais do very well in policing themselves. And yes, this does mean a lot of "common sense" maneuvers which some may find reckless but really is not if everyone understood the unwritten rules of the road. I personally find driving in Thailand to be preferable to driving in the USA and truly dread the day the police start enforcing traffic laws more, such as speeding.
I agree, I moved to Thailand when I was 35 so as I got older I was able to adapt, many Farang that come here and are just too old to adapt.
Been here since 1990 and find driving here is fine, my motor is 9 years old and never had an accident, wife's motor is 5 years old, never had an accident, in fact I've never been involved in an accident in over 24 years of driving here, bikes or cars, maybe I'm just lucky, or like I say, I adapted easier.
On the other hand if I now went back to the UK and started driving, they would probably think I'm a nutter.
If I had come here in my 60's or 70's, I would probably feel different, and moan and whine cos I'd also be unable to adapt .

You'd think this forum was for the under 15s at times, it' s weird to see grown men act so childish.

Clearly yet another troll topic denigrating Thai Women.
Pathetic.
If it was a denigrating Farang women topic, it would have been closed immediately.

Why would anybody want to buy an Apple anything ?
Because they have the choice and the money to buy Apple ?

About as much sense in this as there is with restricted buying times, 11-2 etc.
Doesn't work, won't work. People simply buy more during the restricted hours. Mom & Pop stores will continue to sell under the counter etc.
Enforce the drink driving laws and maybe some progress will be made.
Banning sales of alcohol is nonsensical.
+1
Agree it would help a lot, the Farangs I know that drink and drive in Thailand without a second thought are much more careful in their home countries, draconian measures are needed in Thailand to rid people of the mai pen rai attitude that affects not only Thai people, but many Farang also.
Draconian being you are deported if caught drinking and driving, after all, drunk drivers are a clear and present danger to all, if the consequences were so harsh, I think every Farang who is now happy to drink whilst pissed up would stop immediately.
A 20,000 Baht fine just doesn't cut it. its hard on many Thais but pocket change to many Farang. 30 days jail followed by deportation with a blacklisting period of between 1 and 5 years would instantly cut the amount of pissed up Farang driving in Pattaya by 99%

If people thought that they would get caught, be prosecuted and lose their licence for a peirod, (that is, if they did not hurt anyone else) then people would not go out and drink and drive, simple.
People in Developed Countries get prosecuted and lose their licence for a period of time, don't stop drinking and driving though, nobody ever thinks they'll get caught.

Busted for DUI, arrested on the spot and taken straight to the slammer for 30 days. That might even make Somchai reconsider his drinkinghabits.
And all the Tom, Dick and Harry's who are driving or riding about every night under the influence, I've said it many times before, nearly every Farang I know who drinks alcohol and has a Motorcycle or Car, drinks and drives on a regular basis, many are well pizzed.
Agree, a mandatory 30 days in the nick would certainly make a clear message and stop the majority of drunk driving, Farangs should also be deported and blacklisted for life after the 30 days, that would stop pretty much every one of the many Farangs I know from driving under the influence.
Alcohol......one of the most dangerous drugs on the planet, if it wasn't for the Trillions of taxation $$$$$ it generates for governments around the world it would be a class A drug and highly illegal.

Citing the data, Dr Samarn claimed that the ban has helped lower casualty rate from road accidents by 40 percent and assault rate against women by 50 percent.
If that's the case, Alcohol should be banned at all times, not just new year.

Ahhh, Thainess at it's best.
Seriously, what is this country coming to?

Thai tollerance at its best. "We do not hate them" it's all about land values and money. So if it is having an effect on land values, that the HIV patients are living there, clearly the villagers are not alone in their "values". Its a Thai thing perhaps.
So they can all come to stay at your house ?
They are not asking to live rent free in private people's houses so your question is ridiculous.
It was meant to be, jeez, no sense of humour, let me guess where you're from......
-
Just when you think they can't get any lower.....they do.
And to think, you journied Thousands of Km's at your own expense to live here by choice, amazing.

They used to wear those cut off shorts we call "peepers" that show the bottom part of their buns. I kinda wish they would come back without their short boyfriends.
Why, do you think they'd miraculously start fancying overweight pensioners ?

Cops shhoting falangs monks slapping falangs .... We are getting the point thailand.
And are you taking the point and doing anything about it ?

Bought one for my iPhone 6, didn't like it at all, too thick, went to iStudio and got a good quality Japanese screen protector that is thinner and less money.

If you lived there, you'd find as many things to complain about as you find in Thailand.
