Thought about this and had to agree this is very stupid. I am a seasoned traveler having been to over 40 different countries during my life .I know visas are very important and always apply for a Visa if required about a month before I go. Why ? for the very reason this happened. Yes I know this person will say but I did not know they had a new system. Or I thought it would be delivered like usual.

But you know the problems with assuming anything

Really easy for me I am on my American Passport as I have duel citizenship . If they stop accepting Americans I will leave Thailand and enter on my other nationality and live that way

This is a real easy solution Set up a Task force with a telephone number maned by an officer the Governor can trust. Then when someone is hauled into the police station they call and this guy comes down and resolves this problem. Presto No money and the threat of prosecution if this behavior continues. Maybe you can find holes in it but they if you don't do something direct it will continue

You will never get any help here in Thailand so I would suggest you go to an anger management group that is a good idea or see a therapist . I understand what you are saying but you will not truly be free until you deal with this problem. and it is a Real problem

Yup your in big trouble In the last 3 days they have been arresting everyone with overstays of more that 1 year. What they are doing is throwing those people in jail setting up a time to go to court and you are going to need a lawyer to get you out of that jam If you go to a real prison here there is a guy names Bubba (yes he was in a US prison but came to Thailand and overstayed as well) waiting for your sweet tender body and wants to to unspeakable things with you .

Just kidding. IF you to to the airport and a air ticket to leave and pay you will not have a problem. I had an overstay of  6 months paid left and have been back without incident. THey only care about the fine

This is not a question of the mother abandoning the kid It is not a question about whether you should support the kids or not. If you go into a relationship knowing that she has kids then fine.

You then know what to expect... But there their was a clear and blatant attempt my her to hide the kids from you before she felt good about telling you
