  1. Nonsense!

The Pumps were placed on "Standby" in the wrong place originally, and could be working somewhere else, instead of waiting for the "Taiwan Pump Order"

    Correct.

For example, what is the purpose of KEEPING a few large pumps in standby at the lower Thonbiri (close to the sea)? Those just standing by, and doing NOTHING at all. And the wild waters still far away.

Right now, right here. I've seen unused pumps for at least 2 weeks.......!!!

Why just not USE them at the most wanted spots, instead of crying out loud that there are NO pumps at all????

Don't ask me - ask those in charge. TiT.

  2. Imagine the public reaction if pumps were taken from a flooded area. Human nature being what it is, some pumps are going to be unused for a bit longer.

    Priceless.

    jb1

There is NO public left on the affected areas. Just a few guards per moobaan, and a few visitors to their flooded houses. That's all.

NO "public" since there are no electricity, no tap water, no food nor ANY f...ing attention from this current govt.

Nothing is left to live on - just a bad water.

Borrowing some pumps won't even be noticeable. Believe me - it is my 3rd week of being soaked.Everyone there at their own, and noone cares for the pumps (private or public ones).

  3. The reason that many pumps are stationed in areas where there isn't an obvious need for them is that they are on standby. Consider thaat if they were moved away, under the current transportation logisitical nightmare, by the time they could be brought back it would be too late. A pump that can respond immediately is of more value than scurrying to find available pumps when they are needed. keep in mind, that once deployed, people would protest their removal. Imagine the public reaction if pumps were taken from a flooded area. Human nature being what it is, some pumps are going to be unused for a bit longer.

You don't need drag out ALL the pumps. Those up north need...emm...how many? 60 pumps? Well, whole Bangkok+suburbs can't afford relocating just 60 pumps to the place?

This includes the already affected places, where ALL the pumps are simply useless and mostly NOT working at the moment.

They have army cars to relocate pumps. They have trucks. They even have helicopters.......don't say to me "it is IMPOSSIBLE" - you better say "Noone care".

Look at Japan 6months ago. ALL the nation stand together to fight the problem, and they somehow kept that under control.

And now look at Thailand: some areas now under water (include mine), and the very near areas keep the daily life as normal. They simply NOT CARE, until water start licking their own doors...

I can say - I'm travelling from flooded Pathumthani to [yet] bone dry Thonburi DAILY and see the diference "in action".

  4. I really don't care what shirts the politicians wear, although I must admit Yingluck is easier to look at than her predecessors. However, what the Bangkok Governor has done is obvious to anyone who has ever had to work in a bureaucratic organisation.1. He asks for an impossible quantity of something (the pumps in this case), giving a time frame that he knows cannot be met.2. He submits a written request by the most indirect route possible, knowing that it will take ages to reach the intended recipient.3. He makes no attempt to follow up with a verbal or electronic communication to verify that his request has been received.4. Instead he waits and then makes a public fuss about non-cooperation and claims to be the victim. This is the oldest arse-covering and blame-shifting trick in the book. Now that he has been told that there are insufficient pumps and that the rest are on order from the suppliers, rather than sitting down with the RID and working out how many pumps can actually be brought into service in the meantime, he stamps his feet and keeps insisting on something that has already been declared as impossible.

He is a pure devil then, isnt he?

PS: dont say "IT IS IMPOSSIBLE". It will stay impossible right to the moment you start your arse moving on the way to DO something.

For example, the pumps: I see many, MANY mobile diesel pumps around BKK, waiting on most big canals and NOT STARTED yet. Why not just relocate'em to the place where they are most wanted NOW? Those are mobile, just get a car and drag it to the new place, that's it. How many these pumps now in Bkk, astaying on alert - but doing completely NOTHING for 2nd week of the disaster within Bkk area?

  5. I think you might be losing it a bit dear chap. I think

You think too much - until you get completely lost in your thoughts, but not the opponent's words.

I shall wait till you have calmed down to a more reasonable level before further exchanges.

Im calm as a green mamba, believe me bro.

Nothing else to do here - just enjoy the wind, sun and water from the 2nd floor. You'll learn this tranquility soon (if you got a 2nd floor, of course):)

Take care (I'm going off to educate myself now).

Thanks, and that was a great news (about edicating yourself). Keep doing! Cheers!

Now, will you excuse'moi if I do to my sandbags and pumps?

2All: Today I saw a massive free-food distribution @Prapa/Srisaman/Nawong. PTP, RedCross and Oishi finally reached to there? Today is the 15th day of the flood in da area...

I didn't dare to take one pack for me (while I can have, of course), so I can't tell what was in the package. Someone up there needs that more than me, methinks...So, no info of the content.

  6. I understand that Alexakap has had his house flooded and is therefore naturally and justifiably upset and angry at the current government.

    Wrong.

Once again: I do NOT care who is on charge now. YS or AV or SC (Santa).

I see FARCE, only the FARCE around the flooded areas. And you watch your television from the [yet] dry side.

Feel the difference, and sound me the name who is IN CHARGE of the current trouble. WHOEVER HE/SHE/IT IS - I simply see noone during this 2-week flood. What? No name pronounced? Ha-ha, how predictable.

Once again, read it: NOONE HERE, only a few helpful locals. NO govt, NO electricity, NO tap water and NO food. You don't tell me how helpful your belowed govt was shown in da last tv news.

And tomorrow I'll go there again.

The thing that I don't understand is the obsession of the anti reds to blindly and childishly resort to name calling and criticism without any intelligent reasoning behind their posts.

With regards to being a red supporter, are you up to the constant barrage of insults that will inevitably come your way? I'm not even a real supporter, more a sympathiser and even then, I've been subject to personal insults :)

Open your eyes, kiddo. Or keep "not understanding" and save my time. My objective is not to enlight you - please educate yourself (or read the initial post again - there are some "voices of the true voters". They are changing).

  7. Since when has a reddish district equalled a 100% red vote?

Pathum/DonMuang is the "reddish" tambol, the citadel of reds headed to Bangkok. You go and ask locals to educate yourself.

She decided to dress her clowns to those coca-cola t-shirts...but even there the welcome was "mixed" (yet few months ago it was different)...now think yourself.

I don't care the exact red percentage now (however it is going down anyway). I don't even care to spell her name - Im too busy with sandbags, sorry.

You do realise that the so called red shirts constitute more of the population of Thailand than any other singularly coloured shirts don't you?

The true majority of Thailand is colorless. They use their daily t-shirts regardles the colors. Go educate yourself.

You do understand if I don't return your wai.

I don't care about wai'ing trolls - Im out from this discussion to save my time. Too wet here in Pathumthani nowadays, you know....Tooo manything to watch on....and that girl has brought her common cries and tears to increase the flooding, geeezzzz....

  8. I must say that it's gutsy of her to go into the lion's den and face up to the people. It gives moral support to those that are in favour of her, and allows her opponents to vent some anger and frustration.

    Well done YL!

Don't you notice the "mixed reception" to the leader of the nation - just within a few months after the election, in the very "reddish" district?? Geez, these red supporters again....

Just wait till the water gone (thus the WHOLE CROWD of DonMuang locals can run to her to beat and kick), and let her try this visit again...I bet the "welcome" will be much emmm...colder.

Ohh, there will be "no any necessarity to visit" at that time, Im sure :jap:

  9. Yingluck spent two hours on a boat inspection and dropped EM balls in the floodwaters, which are starting to show signs of pollution. She also distributed relief supplies to flood victims.

Im really, REALLY impressed for this "help". Just look at the illustration. Yeah...These 2hrs was spent for The Good for The Country!!!

She better stay home, indeed. Or keep crying in her helicopter - this way ppl not see this FARCE and upset even more.

PS: did she donate that nice rubber boat to those who really NEED it? Just jump to the water, make your nice boots wet - but HELP SOME children/elder/sick ones!!!

dam_n, I am losing my temper reading such of "news"...:annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

  10. ??? Wouldnt the city turn off the electric if the floods enter a certain region??? (I guess not)

In my area, they did this (regardless the assurances from Egat that the power will stay). Just shut the power down on the whole area, that's it.

PS: until now, there is no electricity and no tap water too.

PPS: don't believe the authorities - and be prepared for the very opposite things.

  11. What did you expect. Yes, I have been useless. This is hardly a real news story.

I think you have the beginnings of her resignation speech.

    I don't think so.

And anyway...if (just IF) she resign tomorrow or next month - what will be changed here? There will be another moron, and everything will be running exactly the same. The only faces changing on the election banners - but not the things around!

Being here for decades, I hardly care who it is on power now. Why? Because all of them exactly the same. Same menthality, same environment...same greeds, ambitions and lack of common sense/education/etc.

Here will be NO changes whoever is in power right now. Not in this life. First they must change their way of thinking, which of course WILL NOT happen in the seen future. Don't even think of it.

  12. Klong Prapa is not totally blocked. I went by it the other day in one of the unflooded areas it was filled the brim and flowing quite rapidly.

    1. Klong Prapa has MANY gates, not just the one. Mine (upper of SriSaman) is closed.

    2. Have no idea about "other day" - I passed there today noon, and the gate was shut. Maybe it was slightly opened underwater - dunno, I have no sonar. But from the surface, it seems completely shut (and waters seeping to the left/right - to the private moobaans....but who cares - those are already flooded for more than a week)...

There's no way they could increase the capacity without it flooding many other main roads and neighborhoods along the way.

    Sure.

And now please think from the opposite side (from the "wet" side of that closed watergate): I can just walk in chest-level waters for 20min - and there will be DRY! FRESH-COOKED FOOD, and not ma-ma noodle anymore! ELECTRICITY! WATER! And cold beer in the 7/11 (here all 7/11 are submerged too - as well as markets, mama/papa shops, ATMs and other lulz). :(

I ust getting sick of this all. :(

  13. I understand you're upset. And for very good reasons.

But still. Does it make more sense to follow your advice that you base on a map of Thailand or the opinion of people who have a bunch of experts around them as well as a lot more data than anyone else?

The only "lot more data" I have is the data right in my house.

I have no idea about other data sources, I just talking something I have right now. I am SEEING the waters - while many posters here are not (yet).

And I am able to compare the official announces with something I am seeing here:

    1. FROC said - there will be NO water. Now, it is here - locals are fishing in my soi.

    2. BMA said - there will be NO tap water service failures. Now - here is NO tap water for days.

    3. BMA said - there will be NO electric shortages. Now - here is NO electricity for days.

    4. Official said - there will be free evacuation sevices. Now I had to buy a boat (4500THB) just to be able to abandon the house.

Today, BMA/FROC/PM/other <snip> says: "Bangkok will be safe!". Sorry pal, but I will expect the very opposite then.

  14. If the river and the canals aren't helping, what can anyone do?

The water is moving SLOWLY flowing to the south. You can break down the flood walls, and it will still move SLOWLY to the south. It isn't being "kept" on the north side. There is a hell of a lot of water, and it is moving slowly.

Don't explain to me abot how and where the water flows: it is my 2nd week of being soaked at Pathumthani, and it flows right through my corridor.

Once again: you have no idea how MUCH and how FAST those waters are. I do.

If it's flowing fast, it isn't blocked.

It is flowing NOT to Bkk directly.

It is flowing (at my place) from east to west, where the Klong Prapa is from Nort to South (to Bkk) - but now blocked.

I can say that the water slooooooow flows from Rangsit to BanBuaThong/Nonthaburi, bupassing the blocked Prapa (which leads to MUCH lower areas such as Tiwanon or ChaengWattana). But I could be wrong.

  15. From "another" newspaper this morning:

The Flood Relief Operation Command yesterday estimated that about 9.9 billion cubic metres of northern run-off had been drained to the sea in the east and west of Bangkok and there remained about 5.5 billion cu/m.

At a rate of 550 million cu/m a day of drainage capacity, the water volume should be drained in 10 days.

Doesn't sound much like "blocking" to me.

I also was listening to FROC announcements - right until the water entered my Soi.

And now there is 1.8m of water. Sorry, I stop listeting that FROCced crap 2 weeks ago then.

They can't even protect THEMSELVES from flooding, and must relocate..How will they protect ME??
