You honestly believe that there are people who chose to live here but also chose not to drive because they think the roads are too dangerous. Beggars belief.

OK let their Thai wife do the driving so they can stagger back from wherever.

I have many friends here (Bangkok) who do not drive but non cite fear of dangerous road conditions as a reason. Mostly it is abundance of convenient public transportation/ they can afford a driver/the wife drives everywhere/et al.

I actually do know several ex-pat people who refuse to drive over here, I have lived here for over 30 years so do know what I am talking about when referring to how dangerous the roads have become due to the Thai standards of driving and you only have to look at the accident figures to know this is true. As for letting my wife drive I thought the object was to make the roads safer....!!

  2. Apart from being totally ridiculous I would like to know three things

1 - How do the police propose assessing if someone is drunk e.g. sidewalk test or breathalyser .....

2 - If by breathalyser what will be the limitations e.g. same as driving a car or motorcycle ....

3 - When are the police going to start breathalysing the Thai motorcyclists who create havoc in the early hours of each & every day

Stop this groveling nonsense immediately, if they want to come they will if the so called zero baht deal doesn't get them in, then they're probably going elsewhere.

Once again we see the contradiction visa waiver equals more arrivals and then this.

    Have numbers increased or not?

They are just getting used to grovelling before their soon to be masters once the Chinese take-over is complete

  4. As has been highlighted on many occasions the problem in the major towns and cities here in Thailand is the number of coaches that navigate the streets, many if not all of the roads & side streets do not have the correct foundations for this type of heavy traffic, this is clearly visible around Pattaya where the coaches are churning up the roads and/or damaging underground water pipes.

In China the condition of the roads is definitely better although I must say the quality of driving standards is equally the same.
