The main problem is a government negotiator who is not afraid to stand up to the EU, May is not strong enough it is a shame that someone like Trump is not at the helm.

Now the local government & police realise that heavy penalties appear to work, how about dishing out some realistic penalties for the disgraceful driving antics of the mainly Thai drivers, but extend to all road users to make the place a little safer?

Can't see what the problem is, scantily clad yes but it's not hurting anybody and it's not compulsory to go to this particular coffee shop - Get a life!!

Thailand has strict laws regarding animal welfare with jail terms for those convicted of abuse.
Does that mean that Thai dogs are above foreigners?
Surprised you need to ask...!!!!

With the packs of dogs running wild around this area anything is possible..!!!!

If Interpol cannot return a real criminal i.e. Red Bull Heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya how do they expect to recover a political runaway? Unless of course the Thai government don't really want him back.

" they should put in a barrier.", where they would be forever crashing into it,
Thai's make up their own lines on the road,2 lines become 3, 4 lines become 6,

Quite true and in addition, unless it is a solid continuous barrier the Thai's will squeeze through any gaps in the barrier to get their own way.

Just a thought, but why not try enforcing Strict Speed Limits on the ordinary roads to safeguard pedestrians and other road users???
-
This is something that needs to be done in many major towns & cities, here is Pattaya there are way too many feral cats & dogs around causing problems, around Jomtien there are packs of dogs running around some numbering 12, these are a real danger to both traffic and pedestrians alike because it only takes one to take a dislike to someone and the whole pack will attack.
-
I have said this before but until there are severe penalties in place and the police & courts hand out meaningful sentences for the people caught instead of handing out "Fines the Thai people can afford" nothing will change, Thai's know they can get away with almost anything on the roads. Early mornings are a typical example when the young Thai's are going home (around 05-30 - 06:00hrs) from the discos three on a motorcycle and obviously tanked up, going the wrong way around traffic islands or the wrong way along a one way street.

"But at least most Thais are OK with it and gladly cooperate". ... I went for a walk at dongtan beach this afternoon and saw more Thais than foreigners smoking on the beach.
I agree with the above statement as I have also witnessed more Thai's than Farangs smoking on the beach; in addition, let's not forget the Thai authorities are wanting more & more tourists, and the Chinese also do smoke more than the Europeans so which way do they want it?
-
I agree many of the so called pavements are in a bad state but so also are many of the roads and if the authorities do not stop all the coaches coming through Pattaya very soon all of the roads will be wrecked. a typical example is the juction between South Pattaya Road & Third Road, the surface at this major junction (X-Road) is disgraceful and extremely dangerous for motorcyclists negotiating the very uneven surface. The roads in Pattaya are not built to take the heavy coach traffic we are now experiencing more & more.

It can be summed up in one word "Sovereignty" unfortunately the leaders in most of the western countries cannot see this or choose to ignore it for whatever idiotic reasons.

Good thing they were not smoking on the beach!!!! where on earth do the powers that be get their logic????

In reality, he should be concerned about ALL accidents, especially when there are fatalities, but we read stories day in, day out in the press about them, and nothing seems to change.
I fully agree, one of the main problems once again is the lack of correct prosecutions for driving offenses also the way the police turn a blind eye to misdemeanors and I am not referring to minor ones like parking or faulty lights etc.
The faults are within the judicial system for handing out suitable prosecutions & the police for not doing their part in ensuring the roads are a safe highway to travel along.

It's not what you know but who you know or pay!!! This is exactly the reason the law & order is going down the drain, someone needs to get a grip

There isn't a blue notice issued by Interpol for Yingluck.
The reason for this is a lack of information from the Thai Police supplied to Interpol to issue the blue notice.
Let's stop the obvious lies, misdirection and obfuscation right there.
As my Mum used to say "There's none as deaf as those who don't want to hear & none as blind as those who don't want to see"

And the government think it is a good idea to ban Foreigners from having guns......

Nothing in Thailand is either free or fair...!!!

The Police & Courts only have themselves to blame, the Police for routinely turning a blind eye to people breaking the law & the Courts for not handing out stiffer sentences when they are prosecuted.

The government should remember what happened in Singapore when they tore Boogie Street down, the powers that be in Singapore realised it was a mistake and rebuilt Boogie Street but it was never the same.....There is a lesson there!!!

It's a crime: Foreigners marrying Thais now subject to fingerprints taken for criminal background

The real crime here is after all the recommended checks have been completed any foreigner still remains subject to annual visa requirements no matter how long he or she has been married and supporting their spouse and family, it is high time the Thai government addressed this and made it easier for foreigners to gain residence, say after marriage then living and supporting his or her family for a period of five years without leaving the country.
