  1. All these tariffs may yet be deemed illegal by the courts, in which case all payment will have to be returned to those countries that have paid them. Howard Lutnick's family firm is apparently betting on this happening
  2. Quite a few people where I live, give up their time at weekends to teach young Thai kids to swim. Mainly foreigners, but some Thais too. Being able to swim can not only save lives, it can open up a world of fun too.
  3. Looks like the Generals will be dining on some rice dishes tonight. Now that his picture is in the media, I hope the Aussie doesn't have any plans to visit Cambodia any time in the near future.
  4. When I last flew with EVA in November 2024, I noticed that they had removed the padding from the seats, and they were now like a mesh with a stiff, 25mm wide supporting band running down the centre of the seat, where the spine rests. I too found it uncomfortable. Probably done to reduce weight. I have always flown EVA non-stop BKK-LHR because it keeps flight time down, and I like their departure times both ways.
  5. I reckon DJT will TACO on India too. if they do capitulate to his demands not to buy Russian oil, China will just step in and hoover up all that cheap oil. Thereby making their industrial output even cheaper. How will anyone be able to compete with that? Also he will then have turned another country against the US. no one likes being bullied or blackmailed.
  6. A lawyer and a podcaster. Nuff said. As the song said, "Only in America."
  7. i don't unfortunately hold any Bitcoin, but there is a wallet called Wasabi that I believe makes it difficult, if not impossible to track a user's transaction history. Here is a link to more info: https://docs.wasabiwallet.io/using-wasabi/ELI5.html
  8. I always back up and then wipe my phone or computer if I need to take them to Apple for repair.
  9. Must be a big library to fit a 747. 😀
  10. Quite difficult when he is in the news every day, using excessive superlatives to boast how wonderful, spectacular, big beautiful, genius he and his policies are.
  11. Way back around 2009-2010 when I first read about Bitcoin in the media, I remember thinking to myself, "Sounds interesting. Maybe worth having a £300 punt and just sitting on it." The only thing was, I couldn't figure out how to buy. The banks were not up on it, and there weren't all the wallets available like today. In the end, I gave up and life and work got in the way. Bitcoin's story is now history, but I was wondering. How did early adopters manage to buy their Bitcoin? If there are any here on AN, was it easy for you?
  12. Next they will be looking for a donor of a second one as a spare because the existing ones are too old. Saudi perhaps?
  13. Fit AI cameras on the BTS and they will be able to scan millions of faces quickly. By the way. isn't it illegal here to carry passengers in the back of pick up trucks? Transporting a handcuffed prisoner, with no way of protecting himself if thrown about, must be a new one from the Health & Safety Executive...if there is one.
  14. It's really too early to tell. Give it a full year for his policies to take effect. Border wall great. Cutting illegal immigration, great. But locking up many innocents (and don't tell me there aren't any), in Bukale's CECOT prison for what is likely a life sentence without due process is just plain wrong. He, as someone who is always harping on about how he was fitted up, should know better. I am not talking about the real Tren de Aragua gangsters, but others who were just grabbed for having any sort of tattoos. Alienating US allies? Too early to tell. We will have to see how this one plays out in the future. Bearing in mind any deals made DJT are not worth the paper they are written on. Taxes? He has done great for his rich cronies. Not so good for the rest. Health? Needs to do better. China? He really didn't think that one through...Rare earths anyone? The Dollar. This is not just Trump, but I think the US weaponising the USD was one of the biggest mistakes they could have made. It has led to the rise of BRICs, and I think many other nations, especially African ones will be lining up to join. And that is where all the minerals are.
  15. If it is aliens, and they see the state we have made of the planet, they will likely pass on by and keep going.
  16. The wall is one of Trump's better ideas. I wish the UK could put a wall up the middle of the English channel.
  17. He is certainly right about unchecked immigration. The social support is draining the coffers, and destroying public services.
  18. Removing so much humidity along with the air conditioning will help you feel cooler, but if you make the air too dry, that can also cause adverse effects, such as dry throat, coughs and others.
  19. It's not good enough just charging him with possession of the materials. He should also be charged with every assault and molestation. That should add up to a fair few years inside. How many young lives has the sick f**k ruined?
  20. They always seem to quote international norms when it suits them. When it doesn't, you get: "This is Thailand. You don't understand."
  21. Why is lamb so fatty when sheep are vegetarians?
  22. Profit driven US farmers inject hormones into their cattle to speed up growth. Many people don't want to eat it because of that. Getting Australia to import it, doesn't mean the Aussie on the street will actually buy it, notwithstanding the bad feeling generated by Trump's coercive tariff tactics. There must be many US farmers that don't dose their beef with such hormones, and maybe Australia has done a deal for only that class of meat. Here in Thailand, I normally buy both Aussie or New Zealand beef. Both pretty good.
  23. It's not a matter of what we think. It depends on if there is real evidence that Trump was involved in Epstein's sexual dealings with young girls, and if she knows where it is, and is willing to testify and reveal it. Real evidence. Although her word alone might do real damage, it's only hard evidence that might finish him. Even more so than the Jan 6 rioters, he will be keen to find a way to free her if she indeed knows where the skeletons are hidden.
  24. Does that mean that if the Thai police raid so called illegal casinos, everyone will get nicked except the Poker players? 😀
