  1. As far as thje assets in the UK go, if the father never left a will, you might have to contact the Probate Court. Sorry that I can't offer any more than that.
  2. I always carry a few thousand baht in cash with me, even though I normally pay my bills in supermarkets by scanning QR codes. However. Twice this week, Makro and Tops, those QR codes would not work, (This payee cannot currently receive payment. Or something like that), and I had to pay in cash. Also this week I did some haggling for cash and got over 40% reduction in price. I knew they were asking far too much (THB110), as I currently had the same things on order on Lazada for THB40. Cash is still king in my book. I don't know how true this is, but my GF told me there are always problems paying by QR codes at the end of the month in Makro.
  3. THB200,000 is a lot of money. But to take someone's life and ruin your own?
  4. If you mean those 20 baht shops, I thought the same, and tried about four of them, plus a couple of Mr. DIY shops. Found one single beer condom. But all is OK now.
  5. What is it with all these Billionaires want ing be PM?
  6. Thanks everyone. I finally managed to find some in one of those 'tourist tat" shops along Chaweng Beach Road.
  7. Yes. he does speak Thai. I often watch his Youtube videos where he talks about things Thai and farang, or about life on the farm. He is a reformed alcoholic who I think settled for country life to get away from the temptations of Phuket. He portrays quite a happy, easy going lifestyle, but he does have a few small businesses on the go, such as selling Lion's head mushrooms and supplements online to bolster his income. He seems like a nice guy who has found his happy spot with his wife and young children. Good for him.
  8. Thanks. I did look everywhere there, but couldn't see any. I have to go there again this afternoon and will ask.
  9. Title says it all. Tried several places without success. Not looking for anything special. Just the usual branded beer bottle ones. I ordered some from Lazada, but they running late with delivery, and need them for a small party. TIA
  10. Don't you mean the squirts?
  11. That photo reminds me of those "add a caption" competitions. Best one won the prize. Though I wouldn't like to win what she is holding.
  12. You forgot <deleted>. As in "hits the fan".
  13. I was watching some of his videos on YouTube recently. A very funny comedian. RIP.
  14. Snails also leave a slimy trail behind them. I'm surprised they don't have CCTV in the building for security.
  15. But it is the Government (in fact most governments) that want to create a cashless society, as (a) it gives far more control over it's citizens, and (b) it can see where all the money goes, and tax it, confiscate it, or take away your right to spend it how you please.
  16. Imagine how he might feel in a few years time when it's worth increases by many multiples of what he paid for it. It's value will probably outstrip inflation.
  17. As much as I don't think she should be Prime Minister, you cannot know how she feels. The death of those young children in the manner in which they died is a very sad, and obviously upsetting occurrence for anyone that reads about it. She won't be the only one shedding tears.
  18. Will it be a 51% - 49% split in favour of Thailand? How do these things work at such a large scale with multinational corporations?
  19. What a horrible accident. Being young children under the care of others only makes it worse. Normally these type of buses have little hammer like window breakers situated around the bus to aid escape. I wonder if this one had them, and if it did, whether the teachers knew what they were for and how to use them, because the youngsters were probably too young to know. Even then, it seems a long drop from those windows to the road.
  20. The article mentions that visibility was reduced, so maybe the pilot was doing a manual landing, which might explain why the aircraft veered off.
  21. The question is, will second hand car dealers really bite the bullet and drop their prices as the market dictates? Second hand cars have always seemed ridiculously over priced here.
  22. Along with the guy that fell into the canal the other day, we can pretty much see what all these THB10,000s is going to be spent on. Ah well. It's not as if we didn't see it coming.
  23. Too many people fell for the "electric cars are greener" mumbo jumbo. They are not. They have just moved the polluting point from the engine to the battery. As a result of the rapid growth of electric cars, there is now a time bomb on the horizon of what to do with old battery packs. Only a small percentage are currently recycled, and many of these are from car accidents where the batteries are damaged and the car manufacturers don't want to use them. . Others are reused or repurposed. But what happens to the ones that are broken down? I saw a video that stated that currently over 95% of old batteries from electric vehicles end up in landfill. Not so "green" when you take that into account if true.
