  1. Water rationing? As you turn into the road opposite Mit Samui Restaurant on Chaweng Lake Road, that leads to the temple, there is what looks to be a 10cm black plastic pipe that is leaking badly and has beenfor at least five days.
  2. Isn't Cottage Pie made with beef rather than pork? If lamb, it's Shepherd's Pie. Each to their own I suppose. i always make Cottage Pie with beef, adding onion, carrot and peas to the mix. Once assembled in the dish, I sprinkle grated cheddar and black pepper on top of the mash before putting it in the oven on a high temp for a few minutes to melt the cheese and crisp the potato. This thread has put me in the mood to make one tomorrow. Thanks. Some others I have cooked recently were; chicken and chorizo jambalaya, chinese style chicken curry, sausage, chorizo, kale and potato hash, sweet potato, chick pea and lentil curry.
  3. 15,000 baht? Blimey! You have certainly gone all in. would take me a year to get through 15,000 bahts worth of books.
  4. So facial scan introduced for increased security, but not for foreigners. See the quoted get out clause above if you get scammed. This must be Thailand 4.0.
  5. This guy seems to have some idea of pulling himself out of a slump.: But joking aside: I think alcohol is the wrong way to go. It is a depressant. Look at your normal day and what you do? Has it become routine? Propping up a bar? Or plonked in front of the tv all day, glass in hand? Try a change of scenery. Even a long weekend away can do wonders. Find some form of exercise that you enjoy and doesn't seem a chore. Keep yourself occupied so you don't have time to dwell on things. HTH
  6. Time for the police to review their procedures in such cases. Would a taser have helped subdue someone in a drug fuelled (I presume Yaba) frenzy? RIP.

  8. Not only that, but he was probably putting the lives of the rescuers at risk.
  9. You look google Haze Outdoors on Youtube. He did a series of videos when he did the Cape Wrath Trail.
  10. There's a build going on next to me. After they poured the concrete floors, while they were still wet they went over them with what looked like a large spinning brush or blade. I asked the builder what it was and he told me that it levelled out all the high spots and left a nice smooth flat surface, which made it far easier for the tiler. It was quite a large area though.
  11. What's that cutter he is using around 5:20? Is it some sort of thermic lance? Wonder why he wasn't using an oxy-acetylene burner like he does later.
  12. I watched one last night. Have to say, he has a weird accent.
  13. It was probably thinking, "Damn farangs. Get everywhere. I can't even chew the cud in peace."
  14. Pretty sure there was a thread about interesting Youtube Channels, but I can't find it. I know that we all have different interests, but sometimes come across channels that are worth watching in themselves. To start things off, here are a couple that I enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/@RickBeato What started out as a musical education channel has morphed into a much wider "everything about music" channel. So much so that Rick Beato has started doing interviews with some well known musicians, including Sting, Brian May and Peter Frampton. I am not a musician, but I find his "What makes this song great" analysis really interesting. He was once a music teacher, has played in a band, and was also record producer so he knows what he is talking about. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJyJKu3ysdceGqK_JaZFUNA This second one, Scotland's Mountains is just a Scotsman who enjoys climbing and camping in the Scottish wilds. I just like watching it for the scenery and photography. Which ones do you find interesting?
  15. I thought the EEC was for the benefit of China along side their belt and road initiative.
  16. No. But she watched Mary Poppins last week. Only because when she told me, "Daddy. I have learned the longest word in the English language, ...pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, I told her about supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. So she watched the movie just for that. I just tested her, and she can still quote that longest word correctly..
  17. I am 65. I do Muay Thai training 5 x 1hr per week. Not for fighting. I just enjoy it. Gets me out of the house, keeps me fit, and I have a laugh with the trainers. Lost 6kgs and I tend to sleep much better as well, so lots of upsides for me. There are guys quite a bit older than me that train there 5 times a week as well. They must enjoy it to keep doing it. It can't all seem like a chore.
  18. Muay Thai 5 x a week. Just for exercise. Keeps my blood pressure normal. Reading. Watching old movies with GF's daughter. Trying to show her the good stuff. At 10 y.o. Titanic (1997) is old to her. The Terminator (1984), and Cool Hand Luke (1967) are positively ancient. ???? She keeps asking if she can watch Kill Bill. Don't know where that came from . Trying to improve my swimming technique...not very successfully. Looking after GF's rabbit.
