Thailand’s Second Satellite “THEOS-2” Set to be Launch Soon
phetphet replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Interested to know what sort of Earth observation. Climatic? Pollution? Or what? Some more info here: https://www.eoportal.org/satellite-missions/theos-2#development-status -
I wouldn't say I have quit. Just stopped drinking. Not that I have ever had a problem with it. Had a couple of glasses of wine with the GF when I went to Phuket a couple of months ago, but other than that I can't remember the last time I had a drink. You already know the answer to your problem. You have to take yourself out of the environments where you will either be tempted, or pressured to drink. Good luck with that as not easy when catching up with friends and family back home.

Chinese Rolls-Royce Owner Demands Compensation from Pickup Truck Driver
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
38 years old and owns a Roller? Who says you can't make money running a restaurant in Thailand? -
That's a long way to go just to take someone for an eye test. I would have thought a billionaire might have staff to help with something like that. I flew up to Bangkok for my one all by myself.

Why you should consider getting a Thailand Elite Visa
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Does it get you off the double pricing in the National Parks I wonder? It's not a visa that fits everyone. It's expensive, and the price is about to increase. Not as attractive perk-wise as the original one. Suits under 50's and wealthy people that won't miss the money. i imagine many younger Chinese and Russians would find this attractive to get away from oppressive regimes, and maybe digital nomads. For me, Non Imm 'O' plus Multiple re-entry permit is not too much hassle. Under THB6,500 (including bank statement and medical) -

I'm pretty sure there was another thread here on AN about Shingles recently, as I had it in my mind there were two different vaccines. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/shingles/public/zostavax/index.html#:~:text=CDC recommends that people 60,vaccine in use since 2006. Slightly off topic, but I was reading a while back that over 60's should also get a Pneumonia vaccination.

Why do they have to be so skin tight? Especially in this climate. Look like they are made of some synthetic material as well, so must be really hot to wear. Are they designed that way? Or is it a "police fashion that they all seem to choose a size smaller? Even the fat ones. A bit of day-glo might make them more visible at dusk as well. It is possible to buy reflective materials in fluorescent colours so it serves two purposes. e.g. That white armband in fluorescent green reflective would be much more effective. The traffic police in the UK are almost impossible to miss in almost any conditions. Their cars motorbikes and uniforms are covered in the stuff.

The only renamed one that I have been into had a slight makeover. Moved some shelves to get another row in, and moved all the stock around so had to go looking for things that I normally went to directly. Pretty much a 7-11, Mini Big C clone, but there does seem to be a lot more stocked jammed in. There are some differences as a certain item I always bought pre Tops is now no longer stocked. I get the impression it does have more choice than either of the other two, but not much. Mainly more bakery items.

Kuwaiti rider’s downhill dash leads to street spectacle in Pattaya
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
30 to 40 Kuwaiti motorcycle riders? Seems like the police aren't having much success in stopping them despite the recent complaints.- 45 replies

It's all ifs...if this needs replacing, if that needs replacing. Rolls Royces are pretty sturdy cars, even today. I doubt the suspension was damaged in what looks like just a fender bender to me. Probably more damage done to the front of the car that rear ended the Rolls. But yes. that will probably cost less than one replacement rear light on the RR. Article doesn't mention if the driver of the car that hit it had any insurance, but if you can afford to buy a Rolls here in Thailand, what with all the import fees, I suppose any repair costs are the last of your worries.

Pheu Thai cruising toward power, but at what price?

In five years time, voter apathy and vote buying will ensure the electorate vote the "right way". GF said she will not vote for PT again after their tricks. -
Indian Tourist Fights with Group of Pattaya Transgender People
phetphet replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Probably a high heel. A bit stupid giving them his phone to look at if true as reported. These ladyboys seem to have a mean streak here. Must be those depressed male hormones. I wonder why he refused to press charges? -
The officer with the baton should have gone for the knee. The guy wouldn't have been swinging that skateboard anymore. Can't understand why the other two officers didn't help their colleague in making an arrest. Attacking a police officer in an airport where there is likely CCTV everywhere and an abundance of witnesses is not the most intelligent thing to do.
