People just don't have the money to afford long haul travel as much as they did pre-Covid. Especially as it even more expensive nowadays. Add in a bit of "Been there, seen that , done that", the various troubles going on in the world today, and it is not surprising that people are not travelling to Thailand so much. Or anywhere else for that matter.

I have found Lazada customer services to be very helpful. Prior to us foreigners being allowed to have a Lazada Wallet, if I had any problems, I used to use the "Chat" feature to talk with them, explain the situation, and ask them to refund me with Lazada vouchers. I knew I would be ordering on the site again, so just used them then. Now having the Lazada Wallet, they can either refund to my bank account or to my Wallet.

I won't go through all of your complaints, but if by mega shopping apps, you mean Lazada, you can avoid a lot of the problems by buying from the "Official" or "Flagship" stores on the site. Many major companies have their own stores on Lazada. Also. It is very easy to buy from Amazon. I often buy from both Amazon UK and Amazon US. I haven't yet tried Amazon SG, but that is probably just as easy.

I disagree that scan and pay is quicker than cash. Especially in my local Tops. Usually the delay is on the cashiers side, with the machines taking time to do the transaction and print the acceptance receipt. But also I often find the wifi to be sketchy and override my 5G phone service. I then have to manually switch off wifi and wait for the transaction to go through over the phone network. i often feel like I am holding up the queue when using scan and pay. Never feel like that with cash. i do wonder if any particular bank's scan and pay is better than the others. I use BKKBK.

OP. Why not go to a police station in Pattaya, explain the situation and ask if they can help or advise? I'm sure there will be more English speaking officers there. Maybe they could even call the police station where the report was made.

I doubt he will go to a detention centre if found guilty. Seeing as he suffers from psychiatric problems he would likely be detained in some sort of facility where he could be both treated and secured. I wonder. Would Thailand accept a plea on the grounds of 'diminished responsibility?'
