  1. Agreed, high speed will reduce the range of EVs, but as most people do most of their driving on short journeys in Town EVs range will be better than claimed. It’s also worth pointing out the the average Hilux driver reading this forum will probably only be getting 10-11km/L at highway speed and much worse stuck in traffic on beach road
  2. Summary of BYD reservation in Motor Show 2024 5,345 cars (Number 2) | BYD Dolphin has the highest ratio - Rank 1 : BYD Dolphin 2,379 cars (44.5%) - Rank 2 : BYD Atto 3 1,457 cars (27.3%) - Rank 3 : BYD Seal 702 cars (13.1%) - Rank 4 : Denza D9 647 (12.1%) - Rank 5 : BYD Seal U 160 (3.0%) #MotorShow #MotorShow2024 #autolifethailand
  3. Well on this particular discussion you will never be taken seriously. This is a discussion about EVs in Thailand and all of the top contributors drive EVs in Thailand and willingly answer questions from the EV curious. Your comment about @JBChiangRai says more about you. You have joined a discussion that you clearly have no personal experience or knowledge of and you resort to insults when you loose your argument, not very “Eloquent” Perhaps it’s time for this pilgrim to undertake a pilgrimage to another discussion
  4. Congratulations, welcome to the Seal Club. I have driving a Seal AWD for nearly 5 months now and love it. These are good discussions: https://aseannow.com/topic/1310792-byd-seal-tips-tricks-and-help/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1308177-rate-charging-suppliers-based-on-ease-of-use https://aseannow.com/topic/1279914-ev-charging-stations-cs I have a few videos on my YT Channel including this one about using my Seal to power my house
  5. sirineou is clearly a troll so will be added to my block list and will be ignored
  6. Thanks for the post and congratulations on reading most of the 5,000+ posts The main posters all own EVs unfortunately the topic attracts the haters who feel that their opinions don’t need to be supported by facts. So things can get a little testy. Possibly the best approach is to simply block the trolls and ignore them. However this topic is supposed to be a resource for potential EV owners and it would be a shame if someone was put off by a poster who doesn’t drive an EV claiming that there aren’t enough chargers.
  7. My reply to you included a citation that directly contradicted your premise
  8. My MG came with 5 years of free data sim. The data covered the car use and the bundled free music service from True. I don’t know what the monthly data usage allowance is but in 3 years I have never exceeded it. Not sure about my BYD but J do know that OTAs are not included in the monthly allowance.
  9. HEV v PHEVs It’s quite difficult to get information about the battery size in HEVs because they don’t want you know. Usually it’s only about 1kWh by comparison my EV has 85kWh gross. So you are driving an ICE car with a such a tiny battery that it’s going to have very little impact on economy they are in no way a “halfway house” to a full EV Battery life is described in terms of cycle life, how many times it can be completed charged and discharged. For my EV that is probably once a week, for a hybrid it can be several times in a single short journey. HEVs do not use batteries designed for long life like the LFP chemistry in my EV…. “Toyota has no immediate plans to drop its decades-long history of using NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) batteries, a stark contrast to other automakers solely offering electrified vehicles with lithium-ion batteries. “NiMH is reserved solely for our hybrid-electric vehicle applications,” https://www.mobilityengineeringtech.com/component/content/article/49256-sae-ma-07246
  10. If you want to be taken seriously in this discussion you can’t just spout BS you need to post evidence to support your arguments H2 is a deception promoted by the fossil fuel industry and I can’t believe people are still falling for it. Thailand doesn’t have a single commercial H2 filling station or a H2 car you can buy. As for the rest of the world- tried it didn’t like it. “First Shell, now Motive, hydrogen fuel station closures continue in the UK The number of hydrogen refuelling stations in the UK has dwindled from 15 in 2021 to just 5 now” https://innovationorigins.com/en/first-shell-now-motive-hydrogen-fuel-station-closures-continue-in-the-uk/
  11. Also now available in black with Dark interior
  12. visual representation of data is always appreciated. I hope you keep it updated. The Dec’23 & Jan’24 figures have probably resulted in less EV sales in the early part of 2024. A bunch of us in this discussion, myself included, purchased EVs at the end of last year to beat lowering of the EV incentives.
  13. For people looking for actual Factual info, please ignore the map posted above as these are not the fast charging stations in Thailand: Make sure you ignore the poster who doesn’t drive an EV so is not up to date with the latest developments in EV charging infrastructure in Thailand https://evat.or.th/images/evinfo/current-status/2024-03/EVAT-Charging-Station-December2023.pdf
  14. OMG he’s back accusing everybody of lying again. Claiming to have driven a model 3 in BKK but several years, but Tesla only started selling in Thailand in December 2022.
  15. Much appreciated. I agree that the Feb and March figures are disappointing, but do you really think we will see less than 3,822 EVs sold in April? If we do then I will admit that EVs have a problem. If EV sales in April 2024 exceed 3,822 will you admit your projection was wrong? We will have to wait and see
  16. Reminder (Again): This is a discussion about EVs in Thailand. If you want to bash EVs in general save that for the EVs v ICE discussion If you don’t want to be mocked and ridiculed in this discussion then don’t post some random data that you are trying to pass off as Thailand data. Always post links so what you post can be fact checked, otherwise nobody will take anything you say seriously.
  17. What a Muppet! He thinks Stellantis sales in Thailand increased 65% 😂
  18. Or maybe something closer to home? Diesel prices have already started to creep over ฿30/L with Shell the first to raise prices.
  19. So March was a bad month for all car sales in Thailand, but worse for ICE cars as the relentless growth of EVs here replace ICE cars.
  20. I am sorry I don’t have an info on the financing for the Atto 3 but maybe @Pib our Atto 3 expert can help you. Here is the finance for the BYD Seal which is a more expensive car, but should give you some idea. It’s not a lease but finance purchase for less than ฿20k per month.
  21. I also bought a Deco the Hannah model after the Government EV incentive kicked in dropping the price from ฿50k to ฿30k. We charge it and 2 EVs from solar - the house is off-grid with no electric meter. The battery is removable and they sell the battery separately if you want a spare.
  22. Andrew's post above gave you the figures. He has the long range premium and I have the performance - a car that is very difficult to drive sedately. The roads where I live in Surin are mostly dual carriageway (4 lane) so I can use the acceleration to pass slow moving traffic in the fast lane. The traffic in Pattaya on the other hand.....
