  1. The senator is right about the IPPS contracts with their "take or pay" deals where the consumer ends up paying for excess electricity. Not sure how much of this article I can quote under fair usage rules but I think its well worth a read. “There isn’t a way to call anyone accountable for this failure in planning,” Chuenchom said. “We can’t really hold anybody responsible for all the excess investment or the excess burden that could eventually get passed on to consumers.” The article also talks about how its nigh on impossible to calculate the true cost to the consumer of these deals due to the way they are structured. https://earthjournalism.net/stories/locked-in-why-thailand-buys-electricity-from-laos
  2. "The energy from dams in Laos is cheaper than any energy source Thailand can produce itself. It is almost 30% less expensive than natural gas and almost 80% less expensive than solar power." From a report written in November 2021, I doubt if much has changed since then. https://earthjournalism.net/stories/locked-in-why-thailand-buys-electricity-from-laos Could well be that if everyone turned to solar the price would come down but would it come down enough to close that 80% gap?
  3. Photo looks like they are all waiting to be beamed up.
  4. "a young man on a green Honda Dream without a number plate came from the opposite direction and fired a single shot, " Certainly doesn't sounds like they overtook the shooter.
  5. IIRC the new witness was killed in a motorcycle accident in the early hours of the morning, less than 24hrs after he was produced as a witness. Again, IIRC, it was several years after the Red Bull accident took place before the new witness remembered he had seen 'Boss' driving at a normal speed. The other thing that came up was at the time the new witness died, his phone was removed from his body at the hospital by an aide who worked for the governor of Chiang Mai. Strange really, how the governors aide just happened to be at the hospital at 2am, when the body was brought in.
  6. How can you possibly consider a government handout to be a part of the GDP?
  7. You're comparing apples and oranges - the Red Bull heir has never been tried and convicted, Thaksin has. The statute of limitations only applies to how long prosecutors have to bring a case against the accused, there is no statute of limitations once you have been convicted. p.s. yes, both should be in jail.
  8. I thought that prisoners had to serve a minimum of one third of their sentence before they became eligible to be considered for parole?
  9. Must of been highly-skilled pickpockets to have got away with stealing shoes, wonder how long it took the victims to notice?
  10. Single shot firearm same size and shape as an ink pen. (Probably homemade)
  11. Maybe she didn't have much of a choice if was brandishing a gun and had already shot two people.
  12. A couple of days ago I saw a clip on Thai news of a similar incident. I may have missed it but I haven't seen it reported on this website. Two motorcyclists were waiting to make a u-turn on a dual-carriageway when a group of 6 or so motorcyclists pulled up and immediately starting attacking one of the riders waiting to make the turn. He was knocked off his bike and attempted to run away but he ran straight into the oncoming traffic and was hit by a pickup truck that was travelling in the right-most lane. He bounced off the pickup into the left-hand lane where he appeared to be run over by large truck. The people (and I use that term loosely) that had attacked him all took off on their motorcycles. The whole thing was quite horrifying to see and I think the people involved should be locked up for a significant amount of time. The government/police really need to say that enough is enough and clamp down on teenage gang violence with serious time for offenders.
  13. Judging by the description in the link, it sounds like he has invented the carpet sweeper that my mum had in the 60's
  14. Short version says "misunderstanding" but the long version says they had a fight.
  15. So according to the linked story, he lost 10,000 baht and then spent another 350,000 baht trying to get it back. Was he studying economics?
  16. What a radical idea, to actually want to know the name of the person you are voting for!
  17. The CCTV was on national television in the morning news.
  18. How about if the 13 senators who voted for Pita refuse to support the imposters? Make that 363.
  19. You're wrong, they can be bought separately. I also go to the 'yellow cog' shop to get my compulsory insurance and always refuse their offer to do the road tax for me for the simple reason that I find it easier to get it at the DLT drive-thru window.
