  1. Wow. If she wasn't hanging off the back of the boat to pee and fell off, that does raise some questions...
  2. When I first moved to China in 1999, a lot of the people out at the corner store at night/ early morning wore PJ's. They generally didn't go out of the neighborhood like that, and the trend has waned quite a bit in the past 20+ years. Still, a lot more tasteful than the wife beater, cutoff short shorts and ratty sandals so de rigueur with a lot of foreigners...
  3. It would also be helpful to see how the LED strip is powered.
  4. She realized exactly what she was doing. Happened to me quite often at hospital pharmacies. Most patients don't care if they're covered 100% by insurance.
  5. The Brits have a word for teaching sex-ed and trans gender studies to kids from K-3rd grade. They call it grooming. So while the lefties call this the "Don't say gay" bill, it's more accurately described as the "Anti grooming" bill.
  6. Dummies. They should have charged 8800 baht a night with the tokens thrown in for free. And for God sakes, makes sure the playing cards have a tax stamp.
  7. Tourism will survive, but the current owners won't be there. All over the world, there's been a massive transfer of wealth as small businesses go belly up and the market share and the assets get snapped up by the big guys.
  8. Be careful with that because adding even a pretty basic GPU for gaming can easily double the cost of a $500 computer. If you want a sense of the speed of the CPU or GPU, here's the site I always refer to. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/
  9. Whatever you do, pick one that's had kids. She'll know how to change a diaper when that time comes.
  10. Maybe not. One arrested guy owned the boat, the other guy drove the boat, and the lady was supposed to hold onto her while she hung off the back to pee. That may be all they'll go after. If anything, I suspect they're trying to keep the heat off any "Mr Big" by scapegoating the little fish. Still waiting to hear any toxicology results from one of the autopsies... Anyone?
  11. I bought every car I ever owned, too. Even while I was living in Mom and Dad's home, eating their food, enjoying their health care benefits and... I also borrowed their cars before I could afford my own. The reason I didn't borrow their scooter is because they didn't have one. All the families in my neighborhood made enough money that we didn't have to rely on scooters to get around. I'm sure every parent who's ever lost a child to a scooter wreck wishes they had strapped their kid into a seatbelt instead of throwing a leg over a scooter. Back home that was just expected. In Thailand, economics make that a luxury. It's certainly not that Thai parents don't love their kids.
  12. And that's just the start of Apple reaching into your back pocket...
  13. During the years I lived in BKK and traveled to Songkhla for work, I kept hoping they'd open up the SKL navy airstrip for commercial flights. That hourlong stretch from Hat Yai airport to SKL town was a white knuckle deal even in good conditions with company vetted drivers. Most companies forbade their employees from taking that trip in the dark.
  14. Someone catch me up... Have they released any toxicology results indicating whether she'd been roofied or anything like that?
  15. But wouldn't that restart protest season?
  16. Mine had a 1/4" tubing with a garden hose attachment and it also came with a rip fence. I'm not sure how the linked model is equipped. The one I had in Thailand was purchased in person at Klong Thom market in Chinatown, so I had a chance to look at it before I bought it. Lazada itself has many models. I did a translate of "tile saw" and used that for a search.
  17. Mine came with a 1/4" hose to keep it wet. The biggest problem with using an angle grinder is the practice required to cut a straight line.
  18. I used something like this. With a wood blade, it was also great for cutting plywood. Lots of different brands available at widely varying prices. Blade diameter is too small to cut dimensional lumber like 2x4's. TP TOOLS 4 inch water cutting machine, 1380W cutter, 45 degree adjustable angle, marble cutting, wood cutting, tile cutting, circular saw tile cutter https://www.lazada.co.th/products/tp-tools-4-1380w-45-i2705753129-s9768222509.html
  19. The kind that can't afford to buy their 16 yo a car, like my parents did.
  20. Nah. Sugar and alcohol are too easy... Butter would require some thought. Besides, it's not "Guns or Sugar" in Econ 101.
  21. I'll bet butter kills more people than guns, through heart disease.
  22. Stories like this confirm my contention that Thai laws prohibiting foreigners from buying land are a humane gesture. If they can come back 30 years later against a wealthy Thai family with connections and all kinds of legal resources, what chance does a foreigner have if the current wonks cast greedy eyes on your little patch of land?
  23. So when did all the Thai men emigrate to the cities in the USA that are having a huge spike in violent crime, including hate crimes against Asians? CCTV images of the offenders don't look like Thai men.
