  1. Your best bet is to contact a visa agent in Canada and see what they suggest. If they can't help you, find a visa agent in Bangkok when you get to Thailand. You'll get better current information from someone who does it every day for a living than people guessing. I'm posting this from China. I got my 10 year tourist visa (L) in Bangkok and I don't even know where the Visa Center is. I used VIP Passport Services in Houston to get visas in the USA. Rarely went in myself, even when they had a consulate in Houston. Sadly, I don't know what agent my company used to get my L visa in Bangkok. But I'm sure they're easy to find with a search.
  2. If you get a chance, post a photo of the motor and pump nameplates and the socket where the motor lead plugs into the motor. Also, it would be handy to know the cable gage, length and configuration (3+gd, 4+gd, etc). May not be too helpful immediately if you're installing a new unit, but it may be helpful in the future if you start having issues.
  3. I suspect it's the opposite, and that Kaspersky is the only one that can keep US gub'ment snoops out of our jammies. So they ban it...
  4. I 'member when I upgraded to 640x480 resolution.
  5. Thanks for that. Years ago, I got away from Sony because of some of their $$$ proprietary storage. But that was way back during CD's and mini-disks. Looks like I need to give them another look see. I never did get serious about photography so I probably won't be collecting many more lenses.
  6. That's a good price, but I rarely found big boy aspirin, 325-500 mg. And when I could find 325 or 500 mg, they were spendy, and usually out of stock. Back home at Walmart 81mg (low dose) are $7.00 for 1000, so not too far off. (And not worth packing for the difference)
  7. I'm not sure you'd find one there, but the first place I'd look is one end of MBK where they sell touristy clothes and hats and underwear. You can't miss it if you see it. Hundreds of kiosks. The next place I'd try is the fabric market around Siam Plaza near Chinatown. Blocks and blocks of stuff like that. Lots of cubby holes in several multi-floor buildings. My 3rd choice would be the Chinatown alleys one block off Yaorawat (sp?), toward the river. Bring a sense of humor because it gets packed in there. I'm not suggesting a dedicated trip to any of them, because it's hit and miss on a specific item. Just places to look if you happen to be nearby.
  8. Being an old thread and mostly comatose, I hope nobody minds a hijack. What happened to Nikon in Thailand? I bought a D5500 before Covid when all the shops in Fortune Town had Nikons. Made in Thailand and $500 with the 18-55 kit lens. This past year, I really have to look for any Nikon kit. None of the shops in Fortune Town have any selection. What's up with that? I'd like to stay with Nikon glass. Just so I'm not a complete hijacker, regarding the OP... Bring vitamins, supplements, big boy aspirin (325 x 500), Tylenol/ Ibuprophen and caffeine tablets if that's how you get your fix. Aspirin and caffeine are like hen's teeth and paracetamol and ibuprophen are much cheaper at Walmart back home if you buy the big bottles. I ended up getting my caffeine on Lazada, for those days I just can't squeeze in a coffee.
  9. You close the door? How polite of you.
  10. Nothing so fancy. I drank beer with several volunteer fire departments in my youth. We occasionally put out fires, too, when the need arose. Edit: When the Plectron went off, for anyone old enough to remember those.
  11. What's crazy is that Venezuela's violent crime rate has fallen, largely corresponding to migration. By double digits. -25% since 2023. And now we know where they're going. And what they're doing. Even if criminals are a tiny percentage of illegals, that's still a huge number of new criminals, for which most communities are not prepared, nor properly budgeted. That's why we have borders. Or at least we did. https://insightcrime.org/news/venezuela-crime-rate-falling/
  12. We called them friction fires. When the mortgage rubs up against the insurance policy. There's another name for that, but we're not allowed to use it any more.
  13. It's astounding if you can keep a straight face while posting that. They have prosecuted J6'ers years after the event, chasing them down by cell phone pings. Just for being there. Some went out of bounds and needed prosecution, but others just walked in the doors being held open by cops. This is exactly why most of the country sees a dual system of justice and why they're going to vote for a felon. And lefty heads are going to explode when it happens.
  14. Was it just a drug law? Did you forget the $billions invested in grow houses, farms, and weed shops on every corner, that are now (or soon to be) bankrupt? You're also forgetting all the people who bought properties to AirBNB them, and then they changed the rules. People want to invest in a stable predictable environment.
  15. Joe says "no comment". To be precise, Cringy Pierre says "no comment" on Joe's behalf. He's out of pocket, busy practicing standing up while he tells lies, back in his basement for the next few days.
  16. What was interesting this morning is that during my Bing search on the topic, most of the MSM either failed to mention they were illegals, or claimed that the authorities were still looking into their status, as if it was unknown. I had to look quite a bit to find an MSM article to link, lest I be accused of linking right wing propaganda again. Because the right wing sources had them as illegals very early in the news cycle. Complete with dates they were caught and released. I suspect a bunch of lefties that only read CNN and MSDNC still don't know. And probably won't, until the anger dies down. Doesn't help Joe. BTW, I use Bing because Google's blocked where I'm staying. So YMMV if you have Google or DDG, etc.
  17. Better yet, contract with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, or another friendly country to house them. And if Muslim countries say no, ask yourself why. Edit: I understand there's some unused refugee spaces in Rwanda that'll probably remain vacant. Forever... Maybe we can get a deal. Here's another thought. Send over a few containers of MAGA hats and Trump t-shirts and the Dems will quickly lose their compassion when the next news cycle shows them being worn.
  18. Seeing what's happening to weed, and so many whipsawing immigration policies, why would anyone believe they won't reverse course in a couple of years and decimate the value of that additional 25% of condos? Or even all condos, when sellers are forced to sell to Thais to get the project back into balance.
  19. They used to call that investigative reporting,. But we can't have none of that...
  20. Out of curiosity, what's your sector? Are you in manufacturing, service, hospitality....?
  21. Not to mention the 2024 South Park movie "The End of Obesity". Not that I recommend it. It has some absolutely hilarious moments, but to much dross to sit through for the nuggets. It may be worth watching if you were high. Say, on fake Xanax. From one of the nice vendors on Sukhumvit.
  22. Be that as it may, when I can buy a genuine prescription in Thailand for 1/20 of the price in the USA, something stinks. Same brand. Same dosage. Huge price disparity.
  23. What's the Thai word for Safari?
  24. Be careful that the cure isn't worse than the disease. There's some scary STDs out there.
  25. This makes the news occasionally in Texas, especially when the water gets really warm. Old farts like me are warned against wade fishing especially, given the fact that you're wading in mud in the bayous. I've had a couple of friends lose appendages and others spent miserable time in hospital, usually after wade fishing, but occasionally just swimming at the warm beach. Maybe half a dozen over 50+ years, but still scary. (Edit: I'd add that people with open sores are especially warned against getting in the warm water) Given the short fuse (dead in <48 hours?), I wonder whether stocking some antibiotics could buy some time until you can get into proper care. I did a limited search, and can only find that it's treated with "antibiotics". No specific type mentioned. But Google's blocked here, so my searches are limited. Anyone know? Not that it's the whole solution, but to buy more time to get to the ER. (Which, in the USA, is the only way to get in in less than 48 hours. Normal doctors' appointments are usually weeks out) Could also be handy in Thailand, where hospitals are quite a drive.
