Good question. But that would mean that it's not settled science, wouldn't it?

Bangkok man arrested with illegal firearm during routine patrol
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Not a good time to get caught. Last week, probably 1,000 baht and on your way. This week, not so much. -
What, exactly, about the condition itself has been settled? Here's a study out of UCLA, showing that 0.5% of adults identify as trans, while 1.4% of US young people identify as trans. Does that mean it works itself out for the majority of young people as they pass into adulthood? Or does it mean that there's something going on that's drawing more kids into it? Or more kids identifying transient, youthful feelings as "trans"? https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/subpopulations/transgender-people/ https://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/publications/trans-adults-united-states/

Little late to the party, but since someone else has resurrected this thread, I really enjoyed my LA Bicycle brand E-Bike. A little more expensive than most of the Chinese brands, but the quality was there, and it lasted 5 years before I moved away and left it to one of my co-workers. At 7 speeds, it also made a decent pedal bicycle. Plus, they have a much wider range of models nowadays. And several shops around Bangkok and many other cities. Mine never needed servicing or a replacement (Li-Ion) battery, but it was nice to know they were there. My battery weighed probably 8 lb and it was easy to pull it out and carry it upstairs. http://www.labicyclegroup.com/product-EN/2

Why a rare gun charge against Hunter Biden could misfire
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yup. The rest of the charges are for financial crimes, which the DOJ has slow walked and impeded to the point that the statute of limitations has run out on quite a few. And (if you believe the whistleblowers), the agents on the ground have been pulled away from even investigating. I'm patient. There's still a bunch of subpoenas floating around, and a lot more witnesses to follow. BTW, the one reason that righties may be interested in the Hunter gun case is because Joe has declared that he will not pardon Hunter. Full stop. We'll see, if Hunter goes to jail. But I doubt that's gonna happen. In fact, I don't even advocate it. -
Video Shows Biden Saying, 'She Was 12, I was 30'?
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Kinda curious... On what post did someone start claiming he was referring to his wife at 12 yo. I recall he was doing a shout-out to someone in the audience, about how long he's known her. Or did I miss something? -
I recall reading many years ago that Thai law allows for leaving the scene, conceding that vigilante justice is quite common. As I recall, they're required to turn themselves in within a specified time (or distance). Does anyone know the current law around leaving the scene? (No guessing, no Thai bashing, and no moralizing, please)

Gender dysphoria may be baked in. (Or maybe not, and that's really the topic of the OP in the thread) But becoming transgender is definitely a choice. And by "baked in", I don't mean to make light of the condition. Just that the science about what causes gender dysphoria is far from settled.

Why a rare gun charge against Hunter Biden could misfire
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Of course it's political. They're trying the only charge that cannot be connected to Ol' Joe. Probably so they can claim they treat both sides equally. And to deflect attention away from the myriad of crimes that may implicate Joe. Most righties don't give a rat about this case. It's a red herring. -
Ignored only on the left. If they didn't ignore calls to crime, most of The Squad would be doing time.

I think that would be like Elon Musk asking me how I pulled off my successful garage sale.

Russell Brand and why the allegations took so long to surface
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Here's another one: Former MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer seems to be the victim of an old fashion succubus after text messages appear to show he never raped accuser Lindsey Hill. Their sexual relationship appeared to be not only consensual but likely predatory on the part of Hill. In a video posted to Twitter, Bauer claims Hill sent messages to her friends devising a plan to take advantage of the former L.A. Dodger. He had no idea what was coming for him when he invited her to come over, but he should have. Ruined his MLB career, chased him all the way to Japan to play ball, then... The author reams him pretty good for listening to the small head, and rightfully so. She was evil, but he should have known better. https://dailycaller.com/2023/10/05/rooke-bauer-hill-message-sex-allegations/ -
So, you don't think the zillions of "I love my new life..." YouTubes and Twitters are promoting the switch? I'm not claiming you are. But that it's quite possible, and has become quite fashionable, to promote transgenderism. You may recall the trans lady who recently died in Thailand. She was a paid spokesperson for one of the Thai based trans clinics. Strangely, they wiped her presence from their website, leading me to wonder if maybe her life wasn't the bowl of cherries she portrayed when she was promoting their services. And the wonderful lifestyle. Edit: Another word for "paid spokesperson": Promoter.

Of course you can. Here's an advertisement promoting their hospital in Thailand as a great place to get trans surgery. Along with a bunch of testimonials promoting their services. It's become quite the industry. Google Trans surgery Thailand. https://www.kamolhospital.com/testimonials

Norwegian man murders his Thai boyfriend in Chiang Mai
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Gotta say, with Thailand's defamation laws, I'd seriously reconsider the title. He's been accused of murder, maybe even arrested for murder. But did he really? And how much liability is there if his story pans out? (I doubt the ol' "we just reprint from our sources" would be much of a shield.)- 86 replies

Gotta wonder... Who's going to have the worse consequences, Fox or Meatball? https://torontosun.com/news/world/accused-philly-riot-looter-meatball-asks-fans-for-cash-as-welcome-home-gift Looks like Meatball may even make a tidy profit on the deal. Fox? I doubt it.

What has Biden actually built? All I see is a bunch of money going out, with pie-in-the-sky projections claiming benefits stretching over the future. Any idiot can throw money at a problem. Does he mean like the electric buses that don't run and the offshore wind farms that are now having to renege on their contracts because they can't produce power at the promised prices?

Car plunges into sea at Sattahip pier following argument
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I'm not blaming anyone. Cars on an incline can start rolling, and the acceleration is so imperceptible that the occupants may not notice in time to avert a disaster. But I'm also open to the possibility it may have been foul play or some kind of f___nuttery gone tragically bad. -
