Altercation Turns Violent: Englishman and wife injured in Knife Duel
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
You forgot the 3rd option. Being fine with being single and not looking at all. -
It's worse than that. Both parties have lined up a Plan B that pits Haley against Newsom. Haley, the warmonger against Newsom whose policies have decimated California. So even if you hate Biden and Trump, the alternatives on offer are even worse. Which explains the rise of Trump. He's today's only viable alternative to the uniparty. Nobody else has the stones and the ego to take on the entrenched political class.

My heart goes out to the guy because it looks like he's in for a long road to recovery. And without any judgment about his choices, his experience can serve as a good data point about the dangers of scooters in Thailand (especially for those unaccustomed to Thai driving habits) and the chances that travel insurance won't cover scooter injuries. And that locals can't be counted on to have enough insurance or funds, either.

British Tourist Dies After Fall from Pattaya Hotel
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I'd rather stay on a higher floor and stay off the balcony. Staying on the ground floor increases the risk of being burglarized. I have 100% control over whether I go out on the balcony. Much less control over whether someone else breaks in. -
Maya Bay voted world’s third best beach by Lonely Planet

I think it's the difference between being able to see any sand between all the tourists taking selfies. -
One of the things I love about Thailand is how cheap it is to have someone tear into my smartphones and tablets to swap in a new battery. Or the bane of my usage, a new micro USB or USB-C socket, because mine always corrode. Back home the cost of labor alone would send me out to buy a new one.

Scottish woman’s cliff plunge in Thailand sparks insurance debacle
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Over the years, it's been discussed many times that Thailand doesn't require an IDP from drivers from countries that have in place a bilateral treaty that allows us to drive in Thailand and Thais to drive in the reciprocal country for (generally) 90 days without getting a Thai DL. My source for that info (in addition to many threads here) was the Thai legal department of the US based company I worked for in Thailand. -

Scottish woman’s cliff plunge in Thailand sparks insurance debacle

Fun as it looks, it's probably also the best way to get killed in Thailand. Between inexperience on a rental scooter and lack of understanding Thai driving habits, too many tourists renting scooters go home in an urn. And even more spend time and money in a Thai hospital. Not to mention that it's generally illegal, unless you have a MC endorsement on your back home DL. To the best of my knowledge there is no license exemption in Thailand for small scooters like there may be back home. So the bilateral treaty that allows us to drive for 90 days on just our home country license doesn't allow us to drive scooters in Thailand unless there's a MC endorsement on our home country license. Which can mean no insurance cover, but that requires reading all 100+ pages of your policy. And even then... -
So, let's recap... First, you want to revoke the citizenship of a conservative commentator, then you claim it's the conservatives embracing an echo chamber. Right...

That's what conservatives do. What's that? Get both sides of a story before we make up our mind? How silly is that?

So don't look.

Blow to Biden as poll shows Trump in lead for 2024 presidential election
impulse replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
So don't believe Fox. Go with NBC's Meet the Press: Remind me, what does it mean when the red line goes above the blue line? Tying it back to the OP title, it must really sting to be polling below the anti-Christ. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/poll-biden-trump-economy-presidential-race-rcna136834 -
Scottish woman’s cliff plunge in Thailand sparks insurance debacle
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Someone clue me in here... Did she have a scooter license back home that would allow her (by treaty) to legally drive a scooter in Thailand? I'm allowed to drive a small scooter back home without a license. But that doesn't mean I'm allowed to drive one in Thailand without having that endorsement on my "back home" license. And I can't see an insurance company paying out for an illegal activity. -
And what a great opportunity for the entire world to catch him in a lie. Or maybe not...

Yeah. I'm going to go with my standard, "Lack of curiosity is not a virtue". Seems the globalists would prefer blind, deaf and dumb compliance. Edit: Here's where I expect he'll post the interview (if it happens). There are several great long format interviews in the various sections. Some solid, some way out there. I just hope the Putin interview doesn't go behind a paywall. https://tuckercarlson.com/the-tucker-carlson-encounter/

FWIW, here's the actual text of the referenced competing bill, that includes the border, Ukraine, Israel, and (I suspect) a lot of other pork. https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/emergency_national_security_supplemental_bill_text.pdf I suspect they better approve stand-alone funding for Israel if they want to get the money to them in this lifetime. That said, I haven't drilled down the 370 pages, nor do I have the legal background to interpret the meaning. So I look forward to the pundits telling us what's actually in it. It could get interesting.

Better yet, do a series of follow ups a year later to show how much fun they're having in the Bangkok Hilton.
