New house builds,  preparation is never carried out, then they use the cheapest  Emulsion paint they can  find,    then water that  down, if you  wipe the painted surface with a damp   sponge  you will probably find  the  sponge is the same color as the wall.. Spend some money on a good quality paint,  it will look good and it will last a lot  longer

I always use Dulux, its not cheap but quality 'anything' never is ime.

Why so often?  Last time I painted the house was 22 years ago and it still looks fine.

I think the answer to your question is the last time ''I painted the house''. You obviously did it to a high standard and know what you're doing. The pic of my house is after it was painted 4 years ago and now its not looking the same in lots of areas for whatever reasons, i'm no painter.

Most of the Thai painters I have seen love to thin the heck out of the paint first.  To the point of it looking watery.

I find that most of the time they add water to the paint to get more out of it, and that is why the paint doesn’t last long.

Yes indeed they do and of course watering the paint down would make it easier to apply but without the thickness its no surprise it does'nt last long. I actually had the carport ceiling redone as i had a leak and the guy did'nt water down the paint, i watched him applying and it was more difficult to cover but only marginally.

I'd imagine watering down means you don't use as much paint and consequently it does'nt cost so much so homeowners don't mind.

Now is it recommended by the paint manufacturers to water it down ?

From the content of your posts in this thread I think you do not currently have a Wise account.  If there is a danger that your present UK bank will 'shut you down' it may be worth getting a Wise account now.  As I understand it, to open an account with Wise you need to deposit a small amount of money from an account in your name, not a third party, which may prove difficult if your UK bank account is closed to you at short notice.

I am not sure about the amount needed, I think about 20 GB pounds, but as I opened my Wise account a long time ago and the deposit was not required at that time, I am not fully 'up to speed' on what is required now.

Better to be prepared for the worst case scenario!

Thanks for your helpful post. I do have a Wise account but i only currently use it for my monthly transfers and i have never explored its capabilities, i find it rather confusing.

I just did a google and I found this on the Wise website:-

Who can I send GB pounds to?

Any UK bank account connected to the Faster Payments Scheme or CHAPS. You can’t send to accounts that only support Bacs or cheque payments

It looks promising if that is what you want to do.

Thanks for that. Every month i have to pay UK bank account holders from my HSBC account, now if HSBC ever close my account i'm hoping Wise will be an alternative option.

BPH has been mentioned many times on this thread, and although this post is not actually about Rezum, it is about BPH, which is probably why many people are seeking treatments like Rezum.

You see, I came across a pop-up advertisement on a website I was perusing and it was for "men who were suffering from BPH" so I clicked on it and decided to read what it was all about, even though there is a video clip, and what I heard (and read to a certain extent) was a complete and utter load of nonsense, which would appeal only to those who knew nothing about BPH or the very gullible.

This is supposedly by someone who has been "cured" of BPH with the help of a "Dr Wesley" and in the nonsense this guy spouts he uses terms about "fear of losing my manhood" and other terms which really had nothing to do with BPH.

Now here's the rub – – he is spruiking some capsules called "Urinoct", which are expensive (in US dollars) and what they actually contain is: – fish oil, vitamin A and vitamin C!!!! Combinations which no doubt many of us have taken in one way or another over the years for various reasons or another, but certainly not for BPH.

Please don't get taken in by this load of nonsense, because it's a scam.

I read it too, utter rubbish and a deffo scam.

I have two private pensions paid into my Wise account directly from  pension providers in the UK. I do not know if all private pension schemes will allow this.  However, the Royal Mail Statutory Pension Scheme and Prudential have both allowed my payments to Wise.  I have also recently been speaking, by phone,  to the UK Gov. pension office in Newcastle to arrange my UK pension, which I will be eligible for in October.  They were quite happy to accept my Wise bank details. I asked if there was likely to be any problems in using Wise as my receiving bank and they said they were not aware of any such problems.

These are my personal experiences, it may be different for people in different circumstances.

(I know that Wise is not 'a bank' but they provide all the information such as sort code and account number to be able to use a Wise account

    as 'a bank')

Great news for having your pensions state and private paid into your Wise account but will Wise allow you to pay your sterling out to other account UK bank account holders ?

BNH  hospital Bangkok.Arrived @ 10:45 for  11:00 appointment on the 8th of August. They prep me with

IV to administer antibiotic and knockout medication and took my vitals , blood pressure was high , usually its normal.

Spoke to the doctor beforehand about Bph medication , he suggested i continue another two months!

Went up to the op room shortly thereafter  , more vitals taken while starting the antibiotics drip within minutes they put my feet in the stirrups and slowly administered the knockout juice . No pain at all .

I woke with some pressure where the catheter is and started drinking water!

Met with the doctor again he confirmed everything went well  during the procedure ! He used 9 vapor injections and  scheduled a catheter removal in 9 days!

Little bit of  burning & pressure in my manhood and abdomen.

I went to pay the 200k package price and the billing clerk tried to charge a extra 10k ! Had to voice my concerns and the nurse took care of it and straightened out the matter.

I ‘ll keep posting in a couple of days.

    Hope that helps

    Good luck

Thanks for your post, very helpful and informative. Looking forward to more updates.

Looking at the pic the paint looks to be in good condition and provided you are not going to change the shade too much 2 coats of a quality exterior paint should be fine but if the colour is very different/lighter a 3rd coat may be needed.

Many thanks for your detailed post. I intend having the same Dulux colour so will heed your advice and get wifey to convey to the painter.

If you skimp on primer the top coat peels off. Preparation, cleaning B4 any paint is applied. Time of 24 hours between coats. Cant recommend a painter, good luck.

Thankyou, i'd hazzard a guess that the required preparation work is not being carried out to the necessary standard TIT and probaly the rest of the world lol

''If you skimp on primer the top coat peels off'' and that is what is happening to an area i lean on, its wearing off and i'm thinking there's not enough paint on here.

I'm not one for standing over workmen but perhaps i should take more interest in what they are doing from time to time.

  11. Now i'm shortly gonna need my house exterior painted, its the Thai traditional rendered walls. I'm no painter/Dec and never do myself so i have no experience. When painting should a primer/undercoat be first applied then 1 or 2 coats of top coat ? I previously have had done by way of a recco from friends but i'm not convinced the correct process is followed as i'm seeing signs of wear ie not enough paint being applied.

Many thanks guys for any help.

If you have a broker type account where you keep your investments which could be ISAs, SIPPs or just investment account they may not accept Wise as it isn't a bank, that was reported by one post so far

Thanks, my reason for asking is i intend using Wise as my bank account if HSBC ever dump me so i need to be well informed of any issues.

Looks like a lot of accounts being closed are because the source of funds is unclear.

People having their pensions being paid into their account should be more secure.

I sincerely hope that is the case, i have three pensions paid into my account every month totaling a sizeable amount (i dare not state the amount as it seems to upset ONE BM lmao)

I am also a customer of HSBC and my pensions are paid into my account each month. I changed my bank registered address to my Thai address more than 10 years ago. I also have a HSBC VISA card registered at my Thai address (I don't have a UK address since 2014).  I was informed by a bank rep that I should make regular transactions to ensure that it didn't become dormant and risk being closed. Replacement credit/debit cards are sent to me here in Thailand. I don't think they have a problem with existing account holders at the moment. I realise this can change.

Now that is great news and i would dearly like to inform HSBC of my residency in Thailand but i just fear that they would close my account. Its a PITA when my cards are up for renewal and my son has to send out to me and then because of the postal delay they are harassing me to validate them.

I am aware of the fact if you don't use the CC a couple of times a year they will eventually cancel because of lack of use so i oblige by buying stuff online.

I've a good mind to call them and ask what their policy is with long standing account holders living in Thailand not complying with their UK residents only policy but of course not disclosing my name lol
