However, I eventually connected using the prefix 001 before 44. Apparently this is necessary when calling from a mobile to a UK landline, but it was extremely expensive.

www.mytello.com is what i use, very cheap have a lookie.

I have now returned from my trip to the SCB

    The main points to note:

    Internet banking with SCB remains.

In my case I already had the dedicated app on my phone, without realising it, and they confirmed that this is already good to go in spite of other thoughts I had of something new needing to be installed!

Only one device can have the APP installed.

    After 14th July I will be unable to use my PC for doing Internet stuff with my two accounts. (as per only one device and no direct Internet service). It turns out that I am virtually unaffected as I can do all I want with the App on my phone;

Important to realise is that the "SCB Easy" route was direct to their website on the Internet using Browsers that make it more likely of accounts being compromised. I am reassured that the changes are for the benefit of Customers. This is their reason for the sole use of the dedicated App that is more secure!

Others have mentioned of having to sign a Disclaimer and or maybe involving facial recognition re more than B50,000 transfers. Not even mentioned to me!

I have seen on the forum that a few people don't have a mobile phone but I am sure this is a minority. Yes, I understand that this is not so good for them.

I think it is possible other banks will follow suit!

    One other observation:

One of my Accounts is in Udon Thani, that one receiving my Government and private pension for the last 14 years so didn't want that account to be difficult to access with any new arrangement. I haven't had an ATM card or a Bank book for seven years. If Internet banking ceased with SCB, it would have been very inconvenient to transfer to other accounts. The second was opened in Chiang Mai and that I use for regular banking activities with a new card and bank book issued at my local branch in Lampang. I mention this as some Members might have accounts in different Provinces from their residences and believing problem could arise as I know often they do in this scenario.

Thanks for your post but i for one don't believe that, more like saving on costs etc

Did you contact SCB and gain any new info?

I'm finding it hard to believe they allow no other access than their stinkin phone app. I resent that kind of aggressive coercion from such service providers.

I have been happy with BBL for the last six years and have three accounts there, including one just for visa purposes. They push their phone app too, but I declined.

    Thanks

Wifey and i are really not happy to use our phones for banking for all the obvious reasons and to be given no option i find that unacceptable. I've had a Bangkok Bank online account for 3 years now due to the needs of Immigration and the 65K income method for my retirement extension and i'm really happy with the service i receive from my local branch, they are very very helpful so for us its a no brainer.

Now lets just hope they don't decide to go down the same route as SCB.

Good for you. I agree. I have a mobilephone but refuse to put banking apps on it. Just an invitation to fraud if I lose my phone.

I do most of my banking on a laptop at home, with Bangkok Bank. I have an SCB account too but may well just move the money and close the account.

This was a mistake on their part IMO.

My wifey and i have done exactly that and closed both our SCB accounts and opened new accounts with Bangkok Bank.

I keep that money in that account for about 15 years now, all I take out is I scoop off the interest once a year, but the balance never drops below 800K. That money is solely for visa. I see on this forum people talking about scratching around every year trying to get the 400K or 800K together. That would drive me nuts year after year. I leave the amount in the bank.

and you still believe that YOU have control of YOUR money, not imo you don't. Tell ya what try taking the 800K out of the account without making alternative arrangements for your extension, i'll be interested in the outcome.

Don't quite understand your logic on this. I've had money in this particular Thai bank account for about 20 years now. I have total control, it's my money, it earns interest, I have access - if needed I can withdraw the lot in minutes.

and once you withdraw the total amount or amounts of money outside of THEIR rules you are not complying with the extension requirements.

They may be very nice however regards your TM30...

Presumably you would have had a reentry permit for your trip out of Thailand so a TM30 should not be required.

Also offices that try to "help" with doing a 90 day report are not really helping.

Those using online reporting best to keep 90 reports separate from extension.

and how would one do that ? Your 90 day report runs out on the same day as your extension as they won't allow your 90 day to exceed your extension date. Its no problem they just do your new 90 day along with your extension, i always complete the 90 day form along with my extension form. I then revert to online for future 90 day reports.

  8. Update guys.....

I called HMRC again yesterday and got put through to a specialist who confirmed wifey will need to claim the personal allowance EACH YEAR using form R43, not an easy task for a Thai national but my mate will help her.

Wifey will need to complete Form R43 - https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1143859/R43_Manual__2023.pdf

I've scheduled an appointment tomorrow with the urologist that carried out my Turp procedure to update him on my situation and that it would appear to have been unsuccessful as my urine flow is virtually back to where it was prior to the Turp and above all else i've started to feel constant discomfort/slight pain in my lower stomach.

Well i saw my Urologist in Korat and had a good chat with him regarding my lower stomach discomfort, my poor urine flow and possible urine retention. He suggested my lower stomach pain could be as a result of the constipation i was still suffering from from time to time and i have to say that its all but disappeared the last few days.

When i questioned him as to why my Turp procedure was an apparent failure when others was a success he said not all patients problems were the same and Turp recipients responded differently.

He suggested he prescribe me some meds to help with the urine retention/flow for the next four weeks, so he prescribed Ucholine 10mg tablets (Bethanechol Chloride 10mg) and i have an appointment for two weeks time to see how i am. He also stated if there was no improvement he would schedule a cystoscope to have a lookie.

As a matter of interest i asked him what my PSA was and he produced a printed report stating it was 1.237 which was well below the 4 unacceptable level.

Here's hoping my next visit is positive......

  10. Just spoke to BNH urology dept and they confirmed the following pricing -

    Rezum - 200K + 14K pre testing

    Itind     - 200K + 14K pre testing

    PVP      - 220K to 240K + 14K pre testing

They offered me an appointment with Dr Suntchai and i informed them i will contact them again after i have seen my urologist in Korat.

Regarding going abroad for treatment, i would prefer to not have to do that if i can avoid but thanks for your helpful suggestion, its always an option.

I'm sorry, I don't know about that, but they are advertising the iTind procedure at a one-off cost of 70,000 baht, that having a time limit on it I think

I've searched their website and cannot find any reference to the above offer, is it an old offer or current ?

You do not, "IF" they think your witness is OK, there is no problem....

A retired UK judge will not have a rubber stamp in his pocket.......????

As a retired magistrate i did one for a mate of mine a few years back and obviously i did'nt have a rubber stamp, my mate had contacted them to check i could do it for him with no rubber stamp, they stated no problem and it was duly accepted.

    Thanks for that ????

I've just phoned them and they confirm they do Turp, Rezum, Itind and PVP, apparently they don't do Urolift or they did'nt understand me.

So all in all along with Dr Suntchai its probaly my best option if i do need another procedure carried out.

That price for the Itind certainly looks good if that is the most appropriate for my problem.
