I left the UK in 2001 , what made me leave was , every year i would drive up to Bradford from down south to see my accountant . I would stay in the same hotel as ut wss convenient. I drove up there in the year 2000 , and went to the hotel ,this time to my shock a muslim man answered the door and informed me , " Asylum seekers only " and then rudely closed the the door in my face. That together with the fact that at the time they were coming in via the channel tunnel at that time. I realised the UK was doomed and it was best to leave while i had the chance , i was 43 at the time and the UK has done nothing but get worse since then .

It took me 3 years to sort mine out , In the end I paid 17 years back at a cost of over £13,500 . I started phoning them up in 2021 , but it would take over 40 mins for them to answer the phone only to tell me to phone a different number. Eventually they told me to write in , it would take them between 4 and 6 months to reply to my 3 letters. They could never explain why the online system showed i had 15 years of full national insurance contributions and 6 further years were in being looked into which would have given me 19 years. After buggering me around for 3 years in numerous letters and phone calls and 2 complaints I had lodged that never got dealt with. I eventually paid myself right back to 2006 which was 18 years that cost me £13,642 . Then , they informed me that I still only had 32 full years and therefore would never get the full pension as you needed 35 for that. I strated collecting my pension in March 2024 at the rate of £202 a week. Makes me mad as if you spent your life on benefits like most in the UK , you would be entitled to the full pension.

Last week , myself and a few owners made a police report about a foreign owner renting out his home which is in a complex . We got fed up with the constant stream of noisy airbnb guests useing our common area and pool and treating everything disrespectfuly . The police to our surprise took the matter very seriously after we showed them evidence of short term renting and inappropriate behaviour of these short stay renters. They have now issued an arrest warrant for the owner of the property informing us what he has been doing is total illegal.

Maybe he was in a different province than were is bank account was opened , same as the 15 baht fee if you use an ATM outside the province , for example my bank account was opened 23 years ago in Phuket, if a.make a withdrawal in say Krabi i am charged a 15 baht fee

Good for you Bob , its money well spent in my opinion and much cheaper on the Pay As Go system in long run. These fools who lavish them with houses , cars and Gold , have they ever sat down and worked out how manys shags they can enjoy instead .

Can anyone recommend a hospital preferably in Phuket for cataract surgery. I need a replacement lens in one eye , and i am trying to learn about the different lenses and costs. After a bit of research , i understand there are 3 different lense options, Monofocal , Multifocal and Trifocal. I saw on YouTube, a few Ophthalmologists recommend a Multifocal lens called Odyssey

Why , because i sold a Condo for 18 Million and have the funds sat in my SCB EZ account. If i send the funds back to my country i will be taxed at 40% on the interest as i already way over my personal allowance . If i send the funds back overseas , when i want to transfer the funds back into Thailand to either buy another property or a car , i will be taxed again on the incoming funds into Thailand.

Thats the Krungsri Mee Tae Dai account, it was paying 2.8% when i opened mine , now down to 0.90%. So about 5 years ago i opened an SCB EZ account , it as paying 2% but now still paying 1.5% with unlimited instant withdrawals, paid tax free if you like me you have the tax ID number

Thank you , yes i have been watching quite a few YouTube videos about it. They all say the Monofocal has the sharpest vision and the Trifocal , dome people may have some issues with halos and nightvision.

Thank you for your recommendation, i sent an email to Bangkok hospital Phuket last night and they replied this morning with this link : https://www.bangkokhospital.com/en/package/eye-surgery-packages It seems they are charging a lot more now for a varifocal or multi focal lens , unless i am misunderstanding something. It says 167,000 for a mutifocal lens (one eye) , and 85,000 for a monofocal lens (one eye)

I reside in Phuket and i went to the UK in March and returned home to Phuket on 2nd October I did my 90 day report on line on 23 Dec , to my surprise it all went through fine and informed me my next report is due in March. I did not have to go to immigration

Would like to here members experience of cataract surgery in the Phuket region , mainly which hospital did it and the price and type of lense replacement. My left eye has become very cloudy and its now difficult to ride my motorbike or drive my car at night , as the glare from oncoming headlights is really bad ,also if i go into a supermarket like Big C or Macro the florescent lights really are affecting my left eye. I have been to Sirriroj Bangkok hospital twice and now the female doctor has said i need a lens replacement. She said the price is between 60,000 to 100,000 depending on the lens. Has anyone else had this lense replacement done and at what hospital and what cost and which is the best lense to choose please.

Yes you do , if your entering Thailand with no onward ticket then you need to enter on a Non Immigrant O Visa , the other choice is if you enter visa free then you must have a return flight.

I backpaid 15 years to 2006 two years ago as i only had 17 full years , it cost me about £13,500. They would only allow me to pay voluntary contributions back as far as 2006. It was a bit unfair as i had 3 years prior to 2006 were i had a couple of missing weeks 1982 : 49 weeks paid 1983 : 50 weeks paid 1984 : 48 weeks paid I wrote a couple of detailed letters to them explaining why those 3 years were missing a couple of weeks , and asked if i could pay the missing weeks but they wouldn't allow it. So i only have 32 full years and cant therefore receive the full pension. I started receiving my pension in March 2024 , fours weeks in arrears at £202.00 per week. I estimate that the £13,500 i paid i would recoup in just ovef 3 years , so its like getting 33% interest on your money.
