Don't forget the obvious, normally on a laptop there is an external volume control.
Probably of no help, but worth checking

I don't usually turn my phone on when overseas, but needed a number on a recent trip to London, I was suprised to find both a signal (Vodaphone), and received a couple of messages from AIS. The First said:
"Lets keep in touch with your friends and enjoy freedom Planet promotion that enables you to use your mobile when travelling abroad with cost saving"
The second:
"Now you can use your One-2-Call Mobile to make call by pressing *131*(country code)(mobile no.) or receivecall while roaming abroad, have a nice trip."
I kept the messages in case they are useful for any future trips, and like you have pre-paid 1-2-Call
Hope of some use

"2) Make Thai airways an independent company and force it to fight for its survival in a free market.
If it fails, it will be replaced by a better and more competitive company."
Unfortunetly there would be no guarantee that the replacement would be either better or more competitive. Too often in Thailand companies prosper not because they are good or competitive, but they have the connections.

Your problem is with Java scripts. Whilst you may have Java installed on your computer it may be that you have scripts disabled in Internet explorer.
Some things you can check:
Open Internet explorer and click on Internet tools.
Click on the "Advanced" Tab and ensure that under Java VM the boxes are enabled, if not then enable and restart the computer.
Click on the "Security" Tab and click on "Custom Level" (A Pop-Up window will appear)
Under "Scripting" ensure that active scripting enabled
If neither of these options work then a final solution will be to reinstall Internet explorer. Before you do this i would recommend that you back up any important data ie favourites and Outlook express files that you want to keep.Generally these wont be affected, but better to be safe than sorry. You will probably find a installation program if you go into Windows Explorer, click on Program Files, click on Internet Explorer and you will see an icon with Ie5Setup.exe or whatever version you have. Double click on this and it will guide you through the installation process.
Hope this helps

"it is my understanding (and the understanding of my lawyer, who i will try to get to post here) that as long as you are doing no paid or unpaid work for a THAI company in thailand you are fine."
It is my understanding, that as long as you are doing no paid or unpaid work for a THAI company in thailand you will not be allowed a work permit anyway..

70% on start-up isn't unusual. It's just the way that windows manages memory, most of this memory will be allocated to windows resources and functions such as pop up windows, fonts etc and will have loaded up when you booted up the computer, this memory will be re-allocated as soon as you start a program. The biggest problem with memory is when a Program takes memory and refuses to allow it to be re-allocated even when you are not using the program, when this happens the computer has no choice but to use the virtual memory (swap File or page File), which is far slower than your actual memory (RAM).When this happens you will see a lot more disk activety.
As other posters have suggested, have a look in your Task bar and stop un-neccesary Programs from loading on start-up. This can help your system run quicker, although the 70% will probably remain the same on Start-up, there will be a greater percentage available for re-allocation.
Hope this helps

According to the article there are 22 Million obese children worldwide (WHO), of which 15 Million are from Thailand (Health Ministry). Somehow these figures don't add up...
Quote:
"BANGKOK: -- About 15 million Thai children suffer from obesity"
"WHO lists obesity as a global health problem. Of one billion people categorised as overweight, 22 million are children"

If you are getting this message then it means the Program itself is on your computer. I would suggest doing a search to locate the program using the "Find" function, and then checking the properties. This should give some additional information, such as company name etc.
Also just confirm that what the screen is displaying is XYES.exe and not XEYES.exe (Which is a popular program found on the internet).
Hope this helps

I believe the official prices are set by the two Governments, and the "guest" Airline has to charge a price the same as the national carrier. In this case the national Carrier (Garuda) may have set this as the official price, whilst the Chinese Government set a lower tarrif for it's representative Airline.
At the end of the day virtually no one pays the full price even when buying directly from the airline except maybe at the airport. Most people will have noticed a totally different price on their tickets than the price they actually paid.

"My husband's passport runs out on 17 Feb 2005."
I am sure it is just a typo, but you had better check that the passport runs out 17 Feb 2006 not 2005 otherwise the passport is currently expired..

"TB?
Tuburculosis? [sp?]
what's that got to do with AIDS?"
Actually quite a lot.
AIDS as such is a definition, which whilst varying slightly from country to country usually is defined as:
Someone who is hiv+ and has either
(i) A cd4 count of less than 200 (sometimes 250)
(ii) Someone with an AIDS related illness (usually either TB or PCP Pneumonia)

There are three versions available for Thailand
XP Home Edition
XP Pro Edition
XP Starter Edition (Thai Language Only)
Up until XP, Microsoft did have a Domestic and Export version of it's operating systems, this was due to the USA government having restrictions on the Export of (what was then) strong encryption, and Export versions were limited to DES encryption whereas the Domestic version (USA & Canada) used Triple DES encryption.

Bangkok Airways have just started a Bangkok-Shenzhen route which has promotional fares until October 2005 of ThB 4300 o/w

For flights to HongKong you will probably find China Airlines the cheapest.

Whilst I agree that using Opera is far better than Internet explorer for the way that cookies, history and cache are deleted on exit, it is still a good idea to have some form of cleaner program on your computer, it's certainly a lot quicker than doing everything manually and usually you can see a fairly good improvement on performance of the computer.
Over a short period of time a computer builds up a lot of junk in Windows, Program Files and the registry which slows the computer down. Programs such as Windows Washer,Ee,eastTec,Spider etc do a fairly good job of eliminating all the junk. If you combine one of those with a Registry cleaner and a defrag then it will keep a computer running a lot smoother.

A couple of things your friend should do:
1. Clear history
2. In Internet Explorer, Find Internet Options (Probably under Tools), go to advanced and unclick all Auto-Complete options
3. Download Windows Washer (Trial version) from
http://www.downloadatoz.com/download.php?p...d=window-washer
This will clear all history, cookies etc

The easiest way to fix this is to re-install the program. Alternatively if you know the name of the dll file then there is a good chance that you will find a copy at:
Just a word of warning:
One of the big problems with instant messengers such as yahoo is that programs such as spybot, adaware, hijack-this etc frequently label some of the files as spyware and will delete them unless you tell them not to.

A couple of programs which can cause windows explorer to crash when trying to open folders with either a large number of jpg or other media files:
Photoshop
Spysweeper
In the case of photoshop you will need to either uninstall, and then re-install (but do not make photoshop the default viewer for jpg or jpeg images) or using the associations (find a jpg file and hold down the shift button and right click) and scroll down to "Open with" (also click on always use this application for this type of file) and chose another program such as ACDSee or other image viewer.
In the case of Spysweepwe then you have to disable the option "Add Sweep for Spyware to Windows Explorer Context Menu"
The other possibility is a problem with your graphics card.
Hope this helps

What I think you are refering to is the Amity Treaty between America and Thailand.
As Sumitr man stated, this treaty does not cover the owning of property or land.
Some of the details can be found at:

Technically this is classed as Spyware rather than a virus, so you may have better luck with Spybot rather than an antivirus program.
There is a removal program at:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popu...r-Remover.shtml
There have been reports that when trying to download, a pop-up window appears saying that "Cannot read from Disk (or source)" This message comes from the spyware rather than your o/s. So before downloading or removing you will have to make sure none of the following programs are running: (Use Task Manager by Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del)
elite toolbar.exe
profilepath+\local settings\temp\suicidetb.exe
profilepath+\local settings\temporary internet files\silent_install.exe
protas.exe
protopro.exe
sideb.exe
silent53.exe
systemroot+\system32\elitekck32.exe
systemroot+\system32\elitexdx32.exe
For a manual removal you could follow the instructions found at:

Thailand Dialplan?
in IT and Computers
Posted
Your wife is correct.
Bangkok Landlines are all 02 xxx xxxx
This gives approx 1 million landline numbers for bangkok alone
For the whole of Thailand the number is
66 x(x) xxx xxxx
The regional number (or mobile operator number) can be from 1 - 99 giving a total of approx 99 million possible phone numbers which for a population of approx 66 million is more than sufficiant.
In Bangkok most apartments use a pabx system which allows for an even greater number of individual numbers.
Hope this helps
