The reactions stemmed mainly from the fact that the description was reportedly based on outdated information

It always is :coffee1: "We sucked before but on the date you publish your report we suddenly became the best (insert Thai institution, fishing company or airline here) and you didn't bother updating your report."

Actually, it's the fifth largest economy on a nominal basis. That means according to the exchange rate. But for most citizens (expats excluded) what's more pertinent is PPP - Purchasing Power Parity. Which is how much you can actually buy with your pound, or euro, or rupee etc.  And on that basis the UK is #9.

According to your link the UK will be #9 in 2022:coffee1: Also, for most citizens PPP per capita is more pertinent than PPP, because it shows how much of the pie you get to share. China drops from 2nd to 70th by those measures for example and the UK from 6th to 20th (According to the World Bank), whereas Qatar jumps from 56th (PPP) to 1st (PPP/capita).

  3. I live in Bangkok so do all my immigration stuff at Chaeng Wattanna (more relaxed about TM30s, TM28s and such). I recently left the country, so my 90 Day Report period has reset. Before I do my next 90 day report I shall move house. Do I need to do anything or can I just go and fill in my new address on the TM47?

I've only ever informed immigration of a change of adress once before - I just told the Immigration Office as I was doing my extension and she changed it on the computer. (Have never done or been asked for a TM28)

I guess you are the same as Ttrump with your ugly ignorant racist views.

Why is calling a country a shit hole, racist? Very few countries have a single 'race' of people living in them. :coffee1: Calling a country a shit hole is diplomatically stupid and rude, but it is not racist. Does anyone actually remember what the definition of racism is anymore?

Many said that if the authorities wanted to stop lane changing they should put in a barrier.

No you dipshits, that's what road markings are for - don't cross the solid line! If you do the police will fine you (it's called "enforcement" - I know you're not used to experiencing it, but better late than never). Barriers are there to help prevent serious accidents (commonly used to separate traffic flowing in opposite directions.)

I'm fairly sure a this guy would also say heavy rains in January is also very unlikely. Belted down this morning. Even some thunder and lightning....in January. Cold and wet at the end of December. Wet season weather beginning of Dec. Summer in mid Dec. Please, oh please you climate change skeptics tell me and every Thai I've asked who have never experienced this, that it's not climate change.

It's impossible to be a climate change sceptic since climate change is scientifically documented throughout the millennia.

Just dubious about the move. I can't imagine it's one that would've been sanctioned had the owner not been a Thai.

Is it possible that maybe, just maybe, he's a decent enough GK for that club.

"I can't imagine it's one that would've been sanctioned had the owner not been a Thai."

Why? Maybe football clubs look at skills rather than nationality or skin tone - I wonder how many African or South American players would be playing in Europe if the requirement to get in was a fellow countryman's ownership of a club.:saai: Does hiring people from your country of birth mean that you're practising some form of nepotism? I've hired people from the UK, the US, Canada and "shock horror" from South Africa as well - the South African wasn't qualified and would cause me to lose money, but hey, he was South African after all. Oh wait, that's not how it went down. :coffee1:

there is a reason i don't knock the BIB here. not because i am scared of them or anything. i know they have their problems, corruption. but when something goes really bad, i actually think they do a good job from what i have seen

So you're saying that every now and then they do their actual jobs. :whistling: I wish I had that luxury in my career.

  9. "...the increased demand for her food has not meant she has become wealthy. Rather, she is actually spending more on ingredients to keep up with the crowd."

But you're selling more - duh

"...a demand that forced Jay Fai’s daughter, Yuawadee Junsuta to quit her job."

Maybe not 'wealthy', but certainly better off than before if her daughter could afford to quit her job.

"..and even a couple of curious tax department officials to Raan Jay Fai’s small space..."

Ah, therein lies the rub :saai:

He's gone because the owner is the son of King Power. This guy is from a top team and is a top player in Thailand but he's moving to the second tier in Belgium, not exactly the elite of European football. I've watched a fair bit of Thai league football it's great to be able have a beer in the stands, and I'd say the best players I've seen would struggle to hold down a place in league one. EPL is a long long long way away but good luck to King Power.

Who cares what tier he's moving to - he is moving UP in his career which is what most of us strive for, Hell, even Chumphon FC (A 2nd tier Thai team) has players from Ivory Coast, because compared to where they come from, the money is much better.

Post #20 by Geriatricid says they're not journalists. But no link confirmation.

There was no link to the original photo posting that confirms the photo being journalists.

Judging by the general young age of the people, it might be a picture of students enrolled in journalism, or just some other unrelated gathering. Prayut does seem to like being in group photos of young people.

But in any case there is high risk of recrimination by the government for journalistic investigation, analysis and honest publication. But for such intimidation to be overcome, more journalists need to take risks if they're going to make a positive contribution to development of democracy in Thailand.

I forgot (didn't bother since I'm not writing a Thesis) to add a link to the original photo. The photo caption says something along the lines of "Government Reporters Posing for a Selfie with PM Prayuth".

I see you posted a photo of the PM surrounded by several fellows and a bunch of ladies, but  what's that supposed to actually mean when you say "part of the problem"

Are they journalists and how are they part of the problem if so?

They are journalists, and they are part of the problem because they act like a bunch of lovesick puppies around the PM. Do they look like impartial journalists to you? I want government reporters that will ask probing questions (even if the PM refuses to answer a question, asking pertinent questions raises awareness in public), I want government reporters that actually remember what the PM said 2 seconds ago so that they can catch him out in blatant lies.

These people in the photo have shown that they possess none of these qualities.

If this guy was in America, they wouldn't arrest him, he would hawking his wares on Infowars or some other crackpot website/media organisation

Thailand has the same crap channels. The other day I was watching an advert for a special soda that cures disease. You just have to stumble in the "late teens" of cable TV to come across it.
