  1. I also have something like this but they’re crap. I couldn’t even charge it up https://s.lazada.co.th/s.OHsMl
  2. I’m thinking of getting one of those monitors the battery and has Bluetooth connectivity to a mobile phone. Something like this. Has anyone tried something similar? https://s.lazada.co.th/s.OHskZ
  3. Me too. I wonder what the reason is? Sun heats up the rubber of the suction cup, causing it to expand to the point where it loses cohesion with the windscreen?
  4. Oops, I had a MAJOR problem with my PHEV last night. I went to take something from my car and my electric tailgate did not work. Strange, I thought. Tried to start it and nada, dead as a door nail. Turned out that my 12 volt battery has died. Called my sales rep. This was about 10pm. She said no worries, they will send out someone in the morning to jumpstart the car. So this morning, at about half nine, someone came out to jumpstart the car. I then drove it to the dealer and they replaced the dead battery with a new one. Done and dusted in about 20 minutes. This is wonderful news for anti EVers and China haters of course but I was wondering, if I had a similar problem with a Honda or Toyota, would I have received the same level of service? As I have more than 1 vehicle, I was not particularly concerned.
  5. I don’t know of a single EV owner in Thailand who bought an EV for the purpose of helping the environment. Do you? In my opinion, EV owners bought an EV because of the extremely low cost of travelling and maintenance, superior comfort, advanced technology and convenience of being able to charge at home, sometimes for free even. If in the process they are helping the environment, surely that must be a good thing ?
  6. Laser hair removal? Laser eye surgery? Laser tattoos (is there such a thing)?
  7. You are absolutely right. An ICEV is extremely convenient. Go anywhere, fuel whenever you need to, easy peasy. That’s why so many drivers prefer an ICEV over an EV. EV owners are a little different. We don’t mind having to plan a little if we’re embarking on a long journey. We also know that our journey will cost significantly less than in a comparable ICEV. We are fully aware that if and when we need to stop and charge our EV, this is going to take longer than the traditional filling of fuel. However, we reason that we would anyway need to stop for longer than 3 minutes as we would need to go to the toilet, have something to eat and for some, to walk their dog(s). Taking all the above into consideration plus the superior comfort of a long distance journey in an EV, we decide that an EV is suitable and appropriate for us. From your post, you are of a different opinion. Good for you, I say. Everyone should have the right (and does) to purchase what’s right and good for them. It would be extremely boring otherwise. Thank you for reading. Best regards.
  8. There wasn’t many freebies when I bought my Dolphin a few months back. No free wall charger. Didn’t bother me as I already had the wall charger plus free install from GWM when I bought my Haval. The good thing was that I was prepared to pay 800k for the standard range (that was the expected price) and when the prices were released, the standard range was only 700k and the extended range 850k. So for the extra 50k, it was a no brainer for me to go for the extended range.
  9. I remember now that I had difficulty finding the link for the files but managed to eventually. Sadly I don’t remember how. Fortunately however, I still have the zip file on my laptop (slightly over 1 GB). I don’t think I can upload it on AN but I can try to email it to you (and anyone else interested). Send me your email by PM if you like.
  10. From the article, it was a guy who filmed it. No mention of any Malaysian lady but never mind. Trivial point.
  11. I have one of these carlink kits in my Haval as you can’t sideload apps. They work a treat. Just need to buy one of those annual SIM cards for about Thb 1,500/1,600.
  12. Yes, but it’s not the normal one that you would download from Google Play store. I followed this video. Icons look like this It also works through installing GBox
  13. I’m not sure. All I do is to plug in the charger, scan the QR code, select which charger (AC, CCS or Chademo) and hey presto. At the end of the charging, I just unplug and the payment gets taken out automatically from my wallet. I didn’t enter my registration number as I have 2 vehicles.
  14. Would love a tour of all your gadgets if ever I’m in CR lol.
  15. Nice try, Try harder next time. You’re obviously ignorant about EV fires. If the traction battery does catch on fire (which can happen), then the Thai firefighters won’t be standing around so casually.
  16. I recommend GBox, Huawei App Gallery, WhatsApp and Tik Tok. GBox is actually Google Play. From here, you can install Google Play apps. Only downside is that it takes two clicks to open the app. First click to open GBox and 2nd click to open the app. Huawei App Gallery is as it says. WhatsApp is primarily for others to send me a location which I can then open directly onto google maps from the car system without having to fumble around on my phone. Tik Tok for those times when I’m waiting for my wife to do some food shopping at the market (and also to keep my passengers occupied if necessary. No preaching by anyone required, thanks). I also have HBO GO as it comes with my 3BB account although I don’t spend enough time in the car to watch any movies. I’m yet to charge it at a CS as all my charging thus far has been at home. I think I mentioned earlier that I also have Google Home installed (via GBox) to open my electric gate. If you really want to push the boat out, install also Ewelink and SmartLife. I also have YiLot which is my CCTV app. For ABRP to work, you need a paid subscription.
  17. This gives those who don’t yet own an EV a real indication of the cost of travelling in an EV (don’t worry about the member number. It does nothing and reveals nothing). As you can see, it costs 5.3 baht per kWh, off peak at PEA Volta CSS. How many kms/kWh you can depends on your car, how much Weight you are carrying, how fast you drive, the terrain, traffic conditions etc. In my fully loaded SUV, it is about 1 baht per km. I usually cruise at between 80-95 kmh. That’s a good enough speed for me at my age. You will notice in Khon Kaen that I charged twice. That’s because I had set my charge limit initially to 80% but I hadn’t finished eating my lunch so decided to charge some more (no one else was waiting else I would have stopped to let them charge).
  18. Not sure if anyone noticed but the PEA app has a cool feature that shows you the SOC of a car that is currently charging there. This gives you an idea of whether to go to another CS or not. If there are 2 chargers at a particular station (majority of them), you need to zoom in and expand the screen and you can see the status for both chargers.
  19. You were a bit too eager to pick another point to criticise EVs. That’s ok. Unlike what some others say, we aren’t EVangelists and are always happy to correct facts and provide more information to anyone that is genuinely interested.
  20. You are in for a sh*t load of frustration but will have a tremendous sense of achievement at the end of it lol. For detailed instructions, follow the videos available on YT. I think if any of us try to direct you on here, you will probably give up after a few tries :). Main thing is to make sure you view the most recent videos as the passwords are regularly changing.
  21. A back door would only allow the CPC to hack into their own infotainment system. Why would they need to do that? Am I missing something here?
  22. The advertised price of the car, and what we paid to the dealer, is the subsidised price.
  23. Couldn’t the security guys at Langley just sweep every car in the carpark daily for spying devices? Or am I watching too many movies, lol.
  24. In order to sideload and install apps, you need the password to get into the relevant menu. I think the password changes with every update so that could be the hurdle. It eventually turns up on YT though :) I have also installed the main charging apps (PEA, PTT, ELEXA) but haven’t tried using them yet. The app loads up just fine.
  25. Instead of a lot of complaining and I told you sos, all it takes is a bit of innovative thinking and the determination to make something workable. A new age of motoring is coming.
