Thai Workers in Israel Choose to Stay, Confident in Safety Measures
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
First, the Israeli military will be protecting them. They will have the same issues as they had in previous years. Israelis have been preparing and are prepared. also, what do you think happens to Somchai when he comes back and can not pay the debt or needs to borrow to pay for his family lifestyle that they have had. I agree, but along with the debt they have to pay and the cost of coming back, there is also the lifestyle and upkeep of the family that they have been paying. Personally, I think working in Israel is better than coming home and listening to my wife and family beaching about not having this or that and why. Wifey is not going to be the big money lady in the village now> -
New challenges facing Thai workers evacuated from Israel
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
But how does that resolve their problems At 6% a year, the loan works out to a monthly payment of 1k a month Seems reasonable until you add in everything else that they have to pay to live. Also what happens when the ear is over and these same Thais decide that the money is too good to pass up? -
Sugar to be subjected to price control in Thailand
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Because, in this case, it is going to save people money. The issue is the same with everything int heis country the government subsidizes or restricts the price in order to make the majority of Thais feel better. There is no thught to the rising cost to harvest a product or refine it that the farmer has to pay. Just as there is no thought to the amount of money the government is spending and deferring for petroleum products or BTS or anything. -
4am closing for nightlife will start New Year
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Bar girls will be happy, short-time hotels will be happy, and bar staff will be happy (more tips) Bar owners are not so sure. It is going to be interesting to see how it all unfolds. It may cost them more than they make. Add in the fact that the minimum wage is going up in the new year could be interesting. Will there be a huge increase in revenue, when will bands and live music start? How long will the music play? New Year's will be interesting. More interesting is what happens in the rest of the country are restaurants going to stay open until 4 playing music in hotel-populated areas. Where is the entertainment area in Pattaya? I thought the whole city was an entertainment area. The bars that open at 10 AM are going to be interesting as they are almost going to have to hire a 3-shift system. -
Not an expert but it would not surprise me that some of the more beautiful just keep getting cosmetic surgery. I also agree that a lot of them just like a lot of the bar girls that get too old just blend into the background. I also wonder if there are that many old ladyboys around. I hav to wonder if like a lot of things, there is a glut of young LB just starting out and as with the baby Boomer generation there is going to be a huge issue in 20-30 years with them. Consider this question: What happens to older LB in your country?

I agree but the only way they can effect the change they want is by coup or the other part of he government that we are not allowed to mention stepping in. The military support is not so much for them but for the institution they supposedly protect. Gf lives the king therefore because the MFP and PT supposedly want to make changes she supports the military. I am pretty sure she is not alone

Thai central bank aims to cut household debt to 80% of GDP
kingstonkid replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The late king promulgated the solution. The problem is that everyone wants the shiny things now. Everyone has to have an iphone or apple tablet. The high debt is caused by Lack of financial education Easy access to credit cards Belief that the government will bail them out The Joneses effect Don't be fooled CC don't want people paying on the loan. They want you only paying the interest that is where they make their money. -
Isoc is justified because of the south. Seems the military could handle things better. Internal security is a problem for all countries due to politicalization. Everything in every country is run on politics. As much as we are in a new world. The military is still in it's leadership a highly political beast. Promotion are not based on what you have done but on who you are and will you toe the line.

OP definitely does not know a lot about Canada. I am willing to bet he was one of those guys who pulled up at the NY/ Ontario border in July looking for a great place to go skiing. (yes it happened) Montreal is a nice place to visit and has a great nightlife. Would I want to live there? Not a chance. Hong couver or druggy central is a definite non-starter. It is Canada's version of San Francisco. I would take Trumpism over PetitPierreism any day. The big thing I found with Americans like the OP is that they come to Canada visit a couple of big cities for a short period and think it is great. My niece went to NYC with a group of friends for a weekend and thought it was great. OP I guess you have very little to say about the American midwest and think it is crap. Living in Kingston ontario I dealt with so-called Americans on a regular basis who thought they were superior because they were from NYC area and southern NY. The only people who had brains were those who lived along the border. You know the greatest thing about Americans that talk like this is that they are so superior you can make a fortune drinking them under the table at bars.

Bangkok spa raid: Human trafficking ring targets minors
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
wow suppose it had to happen but not often you see a male spa get hit. -
He was always under the bus. The only reason that he was made PM was that the senate would not even consider a Shin as PM, and she would have had the same fate as Pita. If you look at it as has been said the plan is coming together Thaksin is back. In February he will be free to see how he can get his sister back. And instead of Zoom and facetime he can run the country from his daughter's office and home. The only question is will the Sente and the money allow her to take the position or will they decide it is time to coup?

Srettha Slammed For Literally Bowing To Paetongtarn
kingstonkid replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Is it not right that he should AFTER ALL SHE IS JUST THE PROXY FOR -
The pressure on this kid had to be huge. First, he was in an English school because of what happened to him. He was away from home and the lifestyle he knew and loved. The whole family and their lives rested on this young man getting them out of poverty. He I ass u me that he was on a scholarship of some sort, so he had that pressure to keep up his grades as well as his football playing. That is a lot for kid and calling home is nice but it is still not the same.

I did the same thing but the difference was that I had the account in my access, not hers. My suggestion is that you can do exactly the same thing BUT have it in your name with it going to her in the will. In the meantime teach her about money so that she is a little smarter than the average Thai lady. No matter what you do once her family and "friends" find out she has money she is going to be very popular for all the wrong reasons. She needs to learn about money and investments so while you are doing it teach her what you are doing and explain how she should handle it

I have lived in Rangsit for 13 years and love it. Much like when I worked in Toronto, I lived in the burbs it is all about cost and speed of life. The one thing I heard was people complaining about renting 1 1-bedroom apt for 10k I was am livin in 3BDRM GARDEN HOME and until we bought it was only paying 7k a month. The cost of food is abut the same and now with the BTS it is even easier to get in and out of BKK and not deal with the big city or its pollution.

Leaving and getting blacklisted
kingstonkid replied to justaphase's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Simply you get there early and check in then if there is any issue you are not rushed to correct it. I prefer to get there early to get everything done and then I can relax until time to board. -
Start serving a few hours early. Sorry, it makes no sense. A lot of bars are open and serving at 9 and 10 in NANA. What a lot of them do is look at it as a chance to actually go home early for a change.
