  1. This is a vote buy. The only people it will help are the really poor on a short time basis. Better would have been to add to the pensioners monthly. Consider that before this comes out all prices in stores will have risen due to the min daily pay rising. In the end the big families will get richer and the poor will stay poor waiting for another government hand out.
  2. It's not the lack of teachers it is the Thai system. In a lot of schools English teachers are figure heads so schools can march them out. Thai teachers teaching grammar is a joke as most get minimal TOEIC scores. Also don't forget even if somchai can only say good morning teacher and I am good in pratom 3 and can't read he will pass and move on through the system. If you want better students the solution is simple. Get rid of automatic pass. Reinstate a real onet that deals at the respective levels written by English speaking pratom and matayom teachers. Publish the results on a school by school regional basis.
  3. Thanks that is what I thought
  4. In the past 3 weeks I have had Facebook mail tell me that my account may have been hacked. Has anyone else run into this? I am not a big user but it is my main method of keeping up with family and friends back in Canada.
  5. Is it me, or is it a pain getting in and out of taxis? As I get older it is a pain because I keep bumping my head getting in. I am only 5'11" but it is almost as bad as getting in the back of a 2 door Am I the only one that has this challenge?
  6. Saw this and thought it might make your day more enjoyable Especially @stoner
  7. The same people will get rich as always the big 5 Thai families will eventually gt all the money. You are correct, and I will not be surprised if one of the serial whistle-blowers does not put that into action close to the action date. Then again, stopping people from getting a handout is not a smart thing to do. Almsot like taking a bone with meat on it from a German shepherd. There are so many areas that they could allow people to legally spend the money. School supplies uiforms tuition. University payments. These would help the families On the flip side imagine someone going shopping at TOPS for the weekly groceries. Sorry Mrs Sonchai but I have to rng in your groceries as 2 separate orders because some of the groceries are covered under the 10k and some are not. How many teens do you think are going to want to buy food? They will make deals with friends mom dad or somebody. Watch families will buy cheap throw-away phones load their wallets on them and leave them with their parents or family. We hve a few extra phones and that is what the GF is doing. Give the phone to her brother along with the pin code and she has hen done her bit to look after the family.
  8. Looking at the way things seem to be done. I agree a deal has been made. However it would not surprise me if thaksin pushed the limit and or the military had a change of heart. Both PT and military are trying to regain the support and control the lost.
  9. With all of thaksin's antics I would not be surprised if this was the military reminding him to shut up and back off. But for Pprp and utn he could still have legal troubles and be sharing a cell with 200 other inmates. I am sure part of the deal was comeback and be quiet. So far he has verbally kept his word but he is starting to slip.
  10. In that case definitely recommend sametville. Private beach good food lots of space.
  11. Thank you for making my point Btw the winners in this are not the Thai people but the big families.
  12. Health insurance be based the same way that car insurance is however the challenge is not the insurance but the lack of brain cells that people use. Most of these people we read about it is not the insurance that did them in but the lack of grey cells functioning properly.
  13. Yeah I think that he should have taken the visit as a warning to stop for awhile lay low clean up the apartments. Big daddy is on to him. My question is with a convicted served sentence how did he get in the country. Also where did he get the money for a construction company
  14. What are you looking for there are isolated places and party. Close to town or away. I like sametville but it is isolated no night life
  15. May not be easy but if she is gone itay be only option. Either way going to make divorce interesting. Also would like to hear her side. Betting there is more to the story
  16. What do you think ICU care would cost in your own country? It is expensive if you have no insurance. Can anyone here shed light on how hard it was raining? Got to hink that they were driving in conditions they were not ready for although we really do not know a lot of info is missing.
  17. Yeah but not in the numbers that Mr. T thought they would even PT lost seats to MFP. Now he has to figure ut how with the military he is going to make everyone love red again instead of orange before the military throws their puppet Mr. T out the door. I have a feeling that while right now he is safe there are those that have chares already lined up for him if he makes a wrong move. Notice that sister is no where near to come back>
  18. There is also the possibility that they knew if they won the fight, they would be charged with starting it and get shafted by the police. Wasn't there an article a couple of months ago bout the LB groups ganging up on people? Why are they so upset it isn't as if they are making any money or want any involvement other than to talk. WE KNOW THERE IS NO PROSTITUTION IN PATTAYA
  19. I do not think it will have the effect on small businesses that ou think. Hell, even motorcycle taxis are using wallets to pay. I think where it is going to hurt is the country's finances. There will be thousands of Thais that get taken by those who can and will game the system.
  20. The catch is that the people in power are the minority in this case. The people in power are not the PT or shin family.
  21. The only reason that PT is in power is that the military had no other choice. The people turned against them and voted for the MFP. The challenge the military had to figure out was how to get back the power which they did with this new government. Thaksin may be the head of the government but even with all his advisors unless they can outspend the Elite they will have to dance to the military puppet. BTW the military is going to do everything it can to discredit the MFP and PT and once they thinkthey can win again they will end the PT reign and call for a new election.
  22. The issue is that they can't corrupt the senate more than the military and elites have. Thaksin is in power but barely and he knows it. The elites can remove him at any time by simply pointing a finger at the BJT, PPRP and UTN This is probably the least power that he has had since he started all his parties. Anyone who has been here for more than a year knows that no matter who the PM is the leader of Thailand when PT is in power is Thaksin.
  23. Thaksin rules that party both in ideology as well as financially. Even when in Dubai he was still in charge. Did anyone think things would change?
