  1. I have lived in Rangsit for 13 years and love it. Much like when I worked in Toronto, I lived in the burbs it is all about cost and speed of life. The one thing I heard was people complaining about renting 1 1-bedroom apt for 10k I was am livin in 3BDRM GARDEN HOME and until we bought it was only paying 7k a month. The cost of food is abut the same and now with the BTS it is even easier to get in and out of BKK and not deal with the big city or its pollution.
  2. Thanks it is almost a drive to immigration lol Hoping to find something closer to dreamworld part of pathum Tani but will keep it in mind.
  3. Hi, looks like I finally need to see a dentist. I live in Khu Kot so am looking for a recommendation for a dentist in the area that speaks english.
  4. Are any oi the bars going to be open for the final game? Realize that there will be no booze sold
  5. Simply you get there early and check in then if there is any issue you are not rushed to correct it. I prefer to get there early to get everything done and then I can relax until time to board.
  6. Start serving a few hours early. Sorry, it makes no sense. A lot of bars are open and serving at 9 and 10 in NANA. What a lot of them do is look at it as a chance to actually go home early for a change.
  7. Talk is cheap. Will believe it when Senate passes it
  8. Most people here are too young to remember but it used to be that bars were closed on Sunday and religiou holidays in the 60 early 70 in Canada Beer sales were closed along with LCBO
  9. Part of the challenge is that promoters for big shows in SE Asia want exclusive rights so that fans fly in. Also there's the price and if the person is a draw. Most thais have no idea who Shania is.
  10. Nah. 90 days in immigration but separate cell Then deport Willing to bet that there's more to the story
  11. We all if we have sex with anyone other than Rosy and her sister pay for sex in some way or another. It does not matter how old you are or where you live you still pay for it.
  12. Yeah, there is no way that the military and Elilte will give up their power. The other question, though is can the Mickey Mouse Club stay in power that long? The sneaky thing to do would be after negotiations put forward and agree to something that the PT could not refuse without Thaksin committing political suicide. Then see how long the club stays in power.
  13. The challenge to that of course, is that the fact that wages and costs are lower here means that we retired folks can afford to live here. The other side is that the cost of living for a lot of the people out of the country is higher. They just due to their life here are better equipped to live a simpler life in the new country. No one in Thailand is going to pay labourers 30-40k for construction. Imagine the cost of the buildings if they did. Also, consider that Thais are being hired to do jobs in other countries because the people working there do not want to do those jobs for those wages. It is an interesting set of circumstances. Imagine if hotels paid Thais 20-30k a month to clean rooms in hotels. Would Thai women want to do it?
  14. The best thing that could happen is the courts say no. The worst thing is they have to pay out 😂
  15. This is a vote buy. The only people it will help are the really poor on a short time basis. Better would have been to add to the pensioners monthly. Consider that before this comes out all prices in stores will have risen due to the min daily pay rising. In the end the big families will get richer and the poor will stay poor waiting for another government hand out.
  16. It's not the lack of teachers it is the Thai system. In a lot of schools English teachers are figure heads so schools can march them out. Thai teachers teaching grammar is a joke as most get minimal TOEIC scores. Also don't forget even if somchai can only say good morning teacher and I am good in pratom 3 and can't read he will pass and move on through the system. If you want better students the solution is simple. Get rid of automatic pass. Reinstate a real onet that deals at the respective levels written by English speaking pratom and matayom teachers. Publish the results on a school by school regional basis.
  17. Thanks that is what I thought
  18. In the past 3 weeks I have had Facebook mail tell me that my account may have been hacked. Has anyone else run into this? I am not a big user but it is my main method of keeping up with family and friends back in Canada.
  19. Is it me, or is it a pain getting in and out of taxis? As I get older it is a pain because I keep bumping my head getting in. I am only 5'11" but it is almost as bad as getting in the back of a 2 door Am I the only one that has this challenge?
  20. Saw this and thought it might make your day more enjoyable Especially @stoner
  21. The same people will get rich as always the big 5 Thai families will eventually gt all the money. You are correct, and I will not be surprised if one of the serial whistle-blowers does not put that into action close to the action date. Then again, stopping people from getting a handout is not a smart thing to do. Almsot like taking a bone with meat on it from a German shepherd. There are so many areas that they could allow people to legally spend the money. School supplies uiforms tuition. University payments. These would help the families On the flip side imagine someone going shopping at TOPS for the weekly groceries. Sorry Mrs Sonchai but I have to rng in your groceries as 2 separate orders because some of the groceries are covered under the 10k and some are not. How many teens do you think are going to want to buy food? They will make deals with friends mom dad or somebody. Watch families will buy cheap throw-away phones load their wallets on them and leave them with their parents or family. We hve a few extra phones and that is what the GF is doing. Give the phone to her brother along with the pin code and she has hen done her bit to look after the family.
  22. Looking at the way things seem to be done. I agree a deal has been made. However it would not surprise me if thaksin pushed the limit and or the military had a change of heart. Both PT and military are trying to regain the support and control the lost.
