Think about a "DaVinci Robotic Surgery" in Thailand. Made in Siriraj-Hospital. (google this). It's a minimaly invasive surgery!

It's important that the Doctors are experienced. This means, that they have done already a lot of these robotic surgeries. This matches for Siriraj. I don't know the current prices. But they will be lower than that of Bungrumrad.

I had this surgery done in Germany exactly 7 years ago. There have been 2 excellent specialists in a famous but remote area in the St. Antonius Hospital Gronau, near the Dutch borderline. There have been foreign patients even from Russia!. Costs at that time about 14.000€, including all: DaVinci Surgery style plus 1 week in the hospital (private). Result: excellent.

You can contact Siriraj by e-mail. I would have done it there. But I went to Germany mainly for the reason to say good bye to my dear brother with a deadly cancer.

I have had a mistake in my thinking. Before I thought, getting a 1-year extension for NON-O would require leaving Thailand every 3 months/90 days. Therefore I thought in reality (= not leaving Thailand all 3 months)  it would be like an O-A in my case in Mae Hong Son. Wrong.

He patiently explained to me, that "applying for the 1-year extension of such  a Visa for reason of retirement is NOT required", means you must not leave the country all 90 days/3 months and that this extension is valid for 1 year.

Therefore  the good result (for me), I don't need a Thai health  insurence for the extensions precedure. (I'm insured in Germany).  Therefore - as Peter said - " So it is only normal that your Mae Hong Son IO did not ask you about it."

Probably he will not have time enough for "entertainment reality".

In the German magazin SPON I have read that Trump will need a lot of time for 20-30 court cases. The real entertainment will start after January 20, 2021.

It's quite possible that Donald will wear a suit with the same color as his face has, when the cases are finished.

Reading about the IMMI-problems in so many provinces, I feel very lucky that I can do all this paperwork in the IMMI of  Mae Hong Son !

I seems to me, so many IMMI-officers are great "to fallow the law" .... but only the letters of the law. Too unable ore incompetent to use the brain, what means common sense.

The correct answer to Mrs. Sheryl is :  the "original" Visa was

 O -  (NOT: O-A). I looked now in my passports and I read alsways (=every year)"O" under "category". Surprise, surprise.

More than 75 years old - in the IMO of Mae Hong Son the officer didn't ask me for a health insurence document. Within 14 years there have been only 2 officers doing their job for my annual extensions. Both with a common sense!

Maybe you can change your home-/address .... on the paper, if you have a family member or friend here in the province.

It would be interesting to know where this happened, where these foul apples came from. Maybe some members experienced the same.

I would ask for their office-passports/ID-cards, would copy them and tell them I would inform the higher police office -  and all would be documented in a video.

About 14 years ago, we had just finished the building of our home, a policeman came up here and asked for money. I told my wife if you pay him I'll leave you at once. He never returned.

This bad apple was later transfered to Pai. Once I read in the news that this ploceman did the samet here . Result: He had to leave the polive, for ever.

If you would follow expert Sheryl's advice you wouldn't write such a nonsense. I guess you have never been in RAM-hospital of Chiang Mai. I can report about some excellent work of "qualified" doctors.

Her advice: quality doesn't depend on (the name of) a hospital, but on a good and experienced doctor. You can find them in first-class/noble private hospitals, but in public hospitals, too. For some docctors money has not the priority in their job, but serving the needy people.

I only can agree- by 100%.

But there is only 1 problem:  the stupidity of a big number of Americans.

Every normal democracy has some right or left wing followers, but in general in low ranges (except England - i didn't say GB - and Brazil i.e.). But in LoS (the Land of Stupids) there are ~40% Trump voters. Therefore: USA = LoS.

A different idea:

write an e-mail to the CHIANGMAI-RAM-Hospital - E-mail : [email protected] , give them the details and ask about the estimated price.

I guess you will receive an answer within a short time, up to 24 -48 yours.

RAM has a lot of quailified, good doctors. Although it is the most "expensive" hospital in Chiang Mai, in gereral it's cheaper than a lot of private Hospitals in Bangkok. The service there is excellent.

Then add the price for a return-air ticket by a cheap airline (Vietjet, Bangkok Airways, Air Asia from the main airport in BKK or Lion Air, Nok Air, Air Asia etc. starting from Don Muaeng) and compare it to the price of your favorite hospital in BKK.
