  1. This stupid action is wasting the air/environment, tax money and going to waste the children !
  2. If you have to pay the dental service in Thailand by yourself, you are staying in BANGKOK and you have to pay a high price for your dental treatment, think about going/flying to Chiang Mai. There are a lot of excellent dentists and invoices are cheaper than those for the same treatment in BKK. Maybe both together, treatment and return ticket to BKK, are cheaper than the service in BKK. Especially the (private) Sripat (University) dental clinic has excellent dentists at reasonalble prices for the treatment.
  3. The answer in a typical TRUMP-style: get aggressive (without a real reason), if you are not able to accept or recognise facts you don't like. You seem to forget that Trump was not chosen as POTUS with the majority of the votes., but by more than 3 million less. And you name me "not a fan of democracy then" ?
  4. The real problem is not that the judges should ban this incompetent moron, but the voters. Then problem solved. For me it's incredible that somebody with such a horrible and repulsive character is loved by so many REPUB LICAN (idiotic) people. Is that ignorance or even stupidity??? A shame for the US.
  5. I'm very happy that we can now fly from CNX to Hua Hin Airport, without a stop in BKK ! And vice versa. Of course, there could be more direct flights from everywhere in Thailand to this city. But this would be one side of the coin. The other one, the dark side is: noise and polliution. If there would be i.e. 20 flights on one day or more in and out of HH, I would consider having my northern "smoke-holiday" not in Hua Hin.
  6. Introducing the planed new Thai tax system for foreigners is like pissing in their own trowsers! Why? There are many many reasons, Therefore I cannot mention all here, but some. Every country has its own tax system. Different rules, different allowences, different tax laws concerning „income“ etc. Are all the Thai tax offices able to read and understand the American, Britisch, Irish, French, Italian, Chinese, Russian Australian, Indian, German, Dutch tax laws, to name only a few countries? They want to tax all the money which is transfered to Thailand, although there are many DTAs (Double Tax Agreements). Do they want to change the DTAs? To work with ALL the foreign tax laws it is necessary to understand all the foreign tax laws, I guess a very, very difficult problem for all the Tai tax offices! If they want to tax the incoming money they have to compare the taxes between the 2 concerned states and tax it „only“, if the Thai tax would be higher than the „falang tax“. To compare the tax rates of the concerned countries, i.e. US and Thai, they must or should understand all the details/differernces of the 2 states. Nearly impossible, even for the high ranking experts in the Finanial Ministry. I guess. Every tax law uses special juristic terms, hard to understand in other/different languages. Which documents would they ask for without violating falang laws.? Only one example. If I would transfer 2.000 Euros to Thailand, how to compare the tax rates (=which is higher). Would they compare the Tax rates by implementing the Thai allowences with free alowences of my German tax (althoug my German „income“ would be higher and therefore the taxing rate? Neerly impossible for all the many Thai tax officers. An what about the paper work?
  7. It seems you missed the Mae Hong Son Province. But it's not for party lovers.
  8. @whophant should print this and show it to the incompetent IMO in CM. Only one problem here in Thailand: losing face seems more important than the laws or official orders. Very sad. I'm lucky, never had a such a problem with my Mae Hong Son Immi.
  9. Go to Dr. Supon in the MEDICINE Department of the Sripat Hospital in CM.
  10. Result: When you check-in, ask the person at the desk, if they report YOUR staying in the hotel. If Yes, you should do it (TM30). TiT, Thailands bureaucrazy at its best ! And, @silverhawk_usa + @Sparkles , thank you for your information/experience.
  11. Please buy some glasses - not communist Chinese tainted ones - to recognise the free world. You say (among other nonsense): [quote] "China any day. They have kept going for thousands of years without any of the atrocities that the west has caused" Did you ever hear or read about the cruel treatment of the Uigurs? about the 4.th of July in Peking? about the connection between the cruel dictators Xi and Putin? about the censorhip of the press? -..... the list goes on ... nearly endless!
  12. Srettha - as usual not at home . Why does the Thai government not call the Chinese embassador in to "tell" him, how to behave .... and not like a reprentative of a dictorship? Otherwise they would send him home to Peking.
  13. In general one way to solve problem. But in our Ampoe (of the Mae Hong Son province) it wouldn't work. The reason: fires in the woods which are not easly accessible in the mountaines. I think education - already in schools -is the most effective way to solve the smoke problem. It would take some time, of course. It worked for me in our school concerning putting the waste in waste boxes and not on the street or anywhere around, many many years ago.
  14. When going around in Thailand, let your wife check-in. Problem solved!
  15. We all have our experience how many, many immigration office(r)s have „their own interpretation of the immigratioon laws or decrees.“ And now the more complicated tax-laws? The tax laws are much, much more complicated than the immigration laws. Now the Thai tax offices should be able to read and understand all the DTAs (double tax agreements) of more than 60 states – We all have our experience how many, many immigration office(r)s have „their own interpretation of the immigratioon laws or decrees.“ And now the more complicated tax-laws? The tax laws are much, much more complicated than the immigration laws. Now the Thai tax offices should be able to read and understand all the DTAs (double tax agreements) of more than 60 states – hahahaha. If you and the Thai government believe, that the tax officers could deal with these complicates „falang §§s“, than you can also believe that I could walk over the ocean from here in Thailand to San Francisco in the USA without sinking down. Maybe that's the reason why they say: we tax the money you transfer to Thailand. That means, they must not be able to understand all the falang-Tax-laws. But this solution would exclude the check which tax is higher, the Thai- or the Falang-Tax??? These are only a few reasons, why the Thai government should think about this idiotic new idea to tax as much farangs as possible, without being able to oversee the results of the end of the tax-drama! When I read here in this thread that the Thai government could solve this problem by nominating another tax expert for the new problem in every province, I nearly died for laughing. 70 erxperts in each big province would nearly not be enough! If you and the Thai government believe, that the tax officers could deal with these complicates „falang §§s“, than you can also believe that I could walk over the ocean from here in Thailand to San Francisco in the USA without sinking down.
  16. Hmmm ......... Great recording of a picture on a digital camera many thousand years ago 😉. How much was the license fee?
  17. In general, the Airlines show you where or how you can pay for the ticket. Many times it's possible to use 7/11, BIG C or ..... (cash) over the counter! And cheep fee, too!
  18. Congratulation to Sweden! 100-times better than a jack-in-officve !
  19. OMG, only China sends criminals to THAILAND ? "Pensionnners of decent european countries" are harrassed with ...... " Oh, I'm so lucky, I never have been "harassed" in Thailand for staying here more than 18 years.
  20. Exactly! The Thai banks behave like criminals in these cases, they don't show you the (hidden) negative results. Now I have learnt about the bank robbery. My problem was the new Krungthai Bank ATM in our village. Nearly all comments in Thai language. And of course, they would never explain or show the disadvantage of the DCC exchange method (in English language). I knew about the DCC-problem, but didn't recognise it. I saw this in the internet:
  21. .... ??? Just until the last months, I didn't have any problems with my VISA-Card over many, many years. But suddenly the Thai ATMs showed me €-rates 2 Baht lower than the official Visa-rates, a loss of nearly 50 Euros when taking off 30.000 THB. Since this time I never have withdrawn money from a Thai ATM. Instead I made money transfers using my €-bank account. Anybody the same problem?
  22. Nothing easier than that: start counting 1, 2 3, 4, 5 ........ etc. Next morning, when you wake up, you remember, you stopped unwillingly at ---- 29. No drugs, no medication ... and very healthy for your brain 🙂.
  23. When I read many complaining or negative comments, then I guess, there must be a lot of overweight people 😉
  24. I cannot complain about our nighbours with a Myanmar origin. The man was the leader of a group of good and reliable handycrafts who had built our house and the cement ways to a bridge. I have told him many times, if he would have grown up in Germany, now he would be an engineer. We supported him building his own house connected to the cement tway. At that time his daughter was a young girl, and now an intelligent teacher in our village. The apple doesn't fall dawn far away of the tree. Before the son of my wife came here for ever, he and his wife took care of our home and animals, when we left for a holiday or for seeing doctors in Chiang Mai. In general, life in our village is very peaceful and relaxing.
