  1. We are in the same situation here in Pang Mapha as You in CNX. We booked a ticket from CNX for breathing healthy sea air in Hua Hin. Here some ideas: 1. watch the weather/pollution forecast in the Internet. Depending on the smoke in CNX, book your direct flight CNX to Hua Hin (i.e. by Air Asia with no stop in BKK). Not very expensiv, below 2.000 Baht. 2. Book your return flight again by Air Asisa from Hua Hin to CNX when the smoke stops. Check the internet or get the good weather news from friends or family in CNX. This year Air Asia had only 3 flights a week. This year I booked the ticket already in February, leaving CNX on 24.03.2023. We have been lucky, Just 1 day later on 25.03. the air got polluted here in Pang Mapha. I booked the return flight (from HH to CNX) for April 24, when we got the positive information about he pollution here in our valley. On the arrival day and in the night before there was some rain, a pollutin killer. Your problem. This year the pullution in CNX started earlier and endet later than here in Pang Mapha. BTW, I can give you a good advice where to stay in a bungalow for 15.000 THB for a month (including all). In the South of HH, ~800m to the beach just in the South of the Takiaep Mountain. Very quiet, no pollution .
  2. How to solve this problem? Only not drunken falangs should be allowed to drive a car or ride on a motorbike ????
  3. Imagine, nobody would have a bank account. Now guess from what the bnank would live from? Imagine, people or a friend would ask you to lend them moneý. And for this reason they demand a special fee from you .... that's the same as the Thai banks want to do with YOUR money.
  4. The PPRP is dominated by the military. And we all know the military style: I order and you have to follow. No criticism tolerated, we think for you, we earn our salary by hard working ---- hm, hmm, hmmmm. We, the leaders, live in wonderful houses in nice areas, so that we can stop the enemies by watching our houses and the green land around ..... with open eyes and mouthes. And corruption is not our privilege. Learn it!
  5. Last Saturday we returned from the smoke-free beach South of Hua Hin. We have been lucky. In the night before going home, there was some rain in our Pang Mapha vally. In the following night we woke up by the rain falling on the roof of our house. Since this time, the haze has nearly disappeared. At least we can see the montain in background without the white smoke around. And that is our haze measurement by our eyes and noses. Today we don't see and smell any pollution, a wind has clered the air. Concerning the weather forecast, yesterday we should have had some water from the heaven. Not! Now we look forward and hope that some rain will reduce the very, very hot air (much more than 30°) ... on Monday and Tuesday.
  6. Near to the end of March, we went by a Pick-Up of a family member from BKK(main Airport) to Hua Hin: 6 hours - thanks to the normal traffic jam at this time. And a lot of people had the same problem. For returning to CNX (Chiang Mai), nearly 1.000 km away, we left Hua Hin by Airs Asia. Flight time: ~1:30h. @Mr. Nigelforbes, what do you think about the air pollution, if everybody had used a car from HH to CNX, particularly a SUV, a Benz, BMW and /or other Diesel-cars? Result: nearly a full daylight pollution ... and as normal hier in Thailand some car accidents. From our viewpoint not more fuel pollution than by all the cars. Hua Hin airport would help to reduce the traffic and air pollution on both airports of Bangkok withpout going there ... and directly to HH. (DMG+BKK). People in the North and NE could fly more comfortably to the cities in the gulf area by avoiding pollution around the Bangkok monster.
  7. Many good quality Hotels/Guesthouses etc. in Dalat. Not expensive (at least ~30 years ago): In the lower price class, but an extraordinary guesthouse - google: Hang NGA guesthouse, Dalat, Vietnam You will never forget it, once you have stayed there. BTW: if you don't like it, you will find hundreds of excellent accomodations. There are a lot of good restaurants, too. Interesting places: Bao Dais Sommer Palace, the lake , many waterfalls not far away, the people in the hotels will give you good ideas for where to go. Transport no problem.
  8. Trump in prison? Better today than tomorrow ... to avoid hearing more nonsense and fake "news". The USA have lost a lot of respect in the world for electing such a moron with a very small brain and an unbelievable hubris.
  9. Is there no free place in the mental home for this man? Officials are payed for working, not for advertising nonsense.
  10. Maybe they think of female lions with 2 legs ????
  11. Maybe it depends on where you are living. Last year there was the nearly daily rain reducing the smoky air very much in our Pang Mapha valley. The years before have been horrible, so that we decided to have a smoke-free holiday in Hua Hin. This year our puyai ban gave the order to contact his office before starting the awful fires. And that seems to work. When you look into the background you recognize, the the air is not free of smoke. But you don't smell it. The best result of his orders: just to today there hasn't been any fire in the woods of the mountains near to our home, as usual all the years before. The birds are as happy as we are, hoping this will not change within the next days, weeks or months.
  12. For me it's much more important what Chuvit does today than what many years before. It's more healthy for Thailands future. Who of the "high society" does this? Fighting corruption and misuse. Chuvit please go on. Who would dare to do this in Thailand?
  13. And no word about the noise pollution? Would Hua Hin win oder lose tourists/costumers?
  14. You are so obsessed to condem Thaksin. One of your eyes is blind. Why are you so fanatic against him? With both of your eyes open, you had to realize and to admit, that the MP of today has a criminal background too. He is responsible for a lot of (government) crimes: a coup, very criminal putting people in prison who demonstarte against him violating young people when protesteing against the government restricting a lot of democratioc freedom enriching himself to the status of a billionare, although he never could have earnt so much money by his military job having a lot of milkitary friends on the top of ministries to control politics completely. ........ the list goes on Has Prayut done positive things for the non-military Thai people? NO, NOT AT ALL! And here is why you are blind on one eye: Thaksin has introduced the 30-Baht-health public insurance. That was a great policy especially for the poor Thai people. Before Thaksin, these people have had big problems when getting sick: not enough money for a normal and often life saving treatment. And this policy has saved much more lives than what you are steadily crying for: the people who have been killed under Thaksin. BTW, a lot of them had deserved the death. I don't defend this, but I write this, because your Thaksin-hate is out of control.
  15. If Thaksin would be put in prison, Prayut should be his companion in the same room. Why? For making a coup. Easy solution to solve the the problem.
  16. it seems you don't want to recognize the real facts. The problems is not the the "inversion layer", it's the origin of the pollution. Following your logic, you would try to solve a health problem by curing the symptoms and NOT the origin of a health problem. As a doctor you would give a patient pills against feaver, although the feaver could be a life threatening disease. To repeat it, the illness in this case is the POLLUTION, made by Thai people, and NOT the layer.
  17. May I add one example of Germany, but generally understandable: Concerning the content of Adolf Hitler's book "Mein Kampf", it is racist and very dump. You should not agree with the content, but people should have the opprotunity to read it to have their own critical oppinion. If you are not allowed to read it, how can you trust people talking about it? Result, even if the content of books may be dangerous or idiotic, give the young people a chance for their own opinion. But this needs critical thinking. And that depends on the age of school children and on the moral and the law.
  18. In the Pang Mapha Valley/District of the Mae Hong Son Province there is and was no ugly smoke within the last weeks. And that is "normal" here for this time of the year. But in the last weeks it was very, very cold at night and in the early morning, 10°-12° (until ~9:30 am). That had not happened in this season within the 17 years we are staying here. The reliable Google-weather forecast shows no remarkable change in the coming week.
  19. Contact your embassy and ask the officers what you or they can do to leave the country in the case of a damaged passport. I.e.; if I had lost or damaged my passport I would go to the German embassy. You must show them a legalized document of your passport and you immediately would receive a replacement for flying at home.
  20. And .... cup makers are not punished in Thailand, but if you pick up mushrooms in special areas, that's a crime.
  21. ???? A agree with your comment, but I think you missed one important reason, why there are so many traffic accidents in Thailand. It's getting the driving licence. In my home country you must show not only that you are able to drive a car, how to turn left and right, how to overrtake , knowing the essentials of the traffic law etc. For receiving the driver license you must answer to a lot of questions concerning the traffic on the streets etc. After that you must show in reality by driving the car many minutes on the streets, that you are able to drive a car without any real problem. If you are able to do this successfully (#1+2) you receive the licence. Corruption impossible, you cannot "buy" such a document. The serious Thai (traffic) problem ????
  22. There is an old wisdom and logic: You are not able to prove something what did NOT happen. In this case it means: you cannot prove the danger of a vaccine on the basis of all the people who survived the vaccination. Noboday is able to count the number of people who would have died IF NOT VACCINATED. You anti-vaccination people, please tell me how many of the vaccinated people would have died without the injection? It's not provable. That people with the vaccine in their body die does NOT prove that they died OF the virus. It shows only they died WITH the virus.
  23. .... may I add, SuperRich is in Chiang Mai, too. On soi "Loi Khro", not far away of the moat. Received a very good €-cash rate.
