It could be your looks, personality, wealth, job etc. In my case it would be a toss up between my looks and my job, though in Thailand, I think your wealth would be the strongest factor. Being a professional musician with looks to match made it very easy for me to attract women and I sure took full advantage. I came to Thailand because I was getting older and so were my looks. I played in bands right up till I came to Thailand to stay, I did not attract younger women any more, so I had to do something. What about you?

I think you are referring to an instance many years back where some agent used fake stamps and was found out. All the guys with the fake stamps were let off by the then Thai Authority. No one was deported. I'm sure older members of this forum will remember this.

Because some IOs have a hostile attitude, although it is in a minority, and can you imagine the upset and anxiety that could cause these members of the "scared of your own shadow" brigade.

Please name just one case of a "bent" agent who got a farang deported.

How easy it is to do yourself depends on what IO you use, some go on power trips, and some are helpful, but be aware that the helpful IO could change the next time you go to that same office. I know, I have experienced it.

I take your point in what you are saying, but no matter what rules anyone in any country makes about anything, nothing is 100% certain, there is always someone who can forge something, or work something to his/her benefit. It happens in governments, banks, insurance companies, hospitals etc. Anything you care to name.

I came to Thailand before I met my wife, as a non drinker, I never read about the bargirl scene and new nothing about bar fines or how they worked. I dated girls working at market stalls, in an office, in a hotel, I was good looking then, probably still am for my age, tall and slim, no tattoo's, never wore shorts, always well dressed. Found it very easy to get dates. I was so out of touch I walked up and down Sukhumvit Soi 4 right past the entrance to Nana Plaza thinking I was actually in it, it wasn't until the next time I went there that I found the real Nana Plaza. I had been talking to other farangs who told me about the bar scene, but although I was keen to go to Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy just to see the girls, I had no interest in paying for sex.

I know, but I never mentioned a TM30. I was near my IO with my wife so just popped in to ask them. I would never have bothered with the TM30 whether they wanted me to or not.

I was told by IO at my local IO office, that I don't need to report anything or going anywhere, and can stay at hotels anywhere I want without reporting anything, unless I leave the country. I had my wife as a witness. And yes! I know that IOs can interpretate anything they want, but if they try any of their nonsense, I will soon let them know about it.
