Is there a regular minibus service from the Mochit minibus terminal to Pattaya? I am asking this because I regularly take a taxi, but the last two times, the taxi drivers took me the long road through Chonburi taking a lot longer. I agreed a fixed fare with the taxi drivers, so it's not as if the drivers were cheating, it costs them more for fuel than it would if they took the normal way, and there is three tolls on both ways, so they were not saving there.

After child abuse and rapists, capitalism is the scourge of the UK, ie old people dying right now of cold related illnesses and have to choose between heating or eating due to very high power bills which make the power companies very extreme profits. Capitalism is and has been for years killing off a lot of old people in the UK. I would say there is a lot to complain about.

Medical insurance, apart from the odd company, these insurance companies will cut you off when you get old even though they have taken your money for years and had no claims, or raise their rates substancially, so don't blame people who do not have medical insurance.

Christmas and New Year, is it not an excuse for hotels, air fares etc to raise their prices? and not just in Thailand. It is just pure capitalism.

Can you tell who the Russians are by just looking at them? Russians are white same as UK, Americans etc.

I know that, but the 400,000Bt in the bank suits me just now, I actually have much more than that but most on my money is in my UK bank.

I have the link you gave me before, so I know what is required. I just want to hear from posters who have done the 400,000Bt in the bank method. I have read and heard of reports about IO's attitude as it is well known that they do not want you doing the marriage extensions as it is so much work for them, they want you to do the retirement extensions instead.

Thai banks used to guarantee up to 5 million Baht in your account for safety, then it was reduced to 1 million Baht. There must have been a reason for that.

I don't trust Thai banks enough to put 800,000Bt in a Thai bank and I am not going to transfer money from my UK bank to put 800,000 in a Thai bank. I know personally people who have had a bad time and I don't trust myself not to retaliate if some IO starts any nonsense.

True and Lazada have more than their share among their sellers. I will never again buy anything expensive from Lazada, been conned to many times.

In my view no one is better than me Farmers, IO's, Government Officials etc. I treat them as they treat me, again, I am no better than any of them. If a person is sober and of decent appearance I am very happy to talk with them, if they are covered in tattoos and have a lot of facial hair, stay well away.

Since I came to Thailand after the first 3 years, I have mainly been on work permits or using agents. I am now seriously thinking about getting the marriage extensions. I have always been put off in the past hearing and reading about nasty attitudes from IO's and asking for fuel money for home visits etc. I am asking posters about their own personal experience on this to see if it is worthwhile. Thanks.

I have been in Pattaya many times in the last 20 years, admittedly not in the early hours and only in the bars an occasional time like going up on stage with the band to play bass guitar and sing. I have been through all the red light areas, spoke to many farangs and even the ladies of ill repute. I have never had any problems with anyone, came anywhere near fights or even been threatened with any violence. But then I don't drink. I could never say that about Glasgow or any other city in the UK.

I understand what you are saying, but I live up country and have no other farangs to speak to and the help I have recieved from AN posters on different things has been first class.
