  1. Great news Simon.
  2. You definitely need a second opinoon as to whether the surgery is necessary/likely to help. This is a procedure sometimes done unnecessarily and when ig is, there is no benefit. If the otocedure is necessary definitely should not fo it on Samui. You would be best served by voming yo Bangkok where I voukd recommrnd a god ENT. If unwilling then go to Surat Thani and consult an ENT at either (1) the main government hospital in town -- use the after hours clinic to see a senior ENT and if possible have a Thai speaker with you or (2) Taksin Hospital (private but much less expensive than the Bangkok Hodp chain).
  3. Beta blockers are no longer recommended for first lien treatment of hypertension (though they are still very useful for other things including some heart conditions). For first line treatment of hypertension nowasdays: ACE inhibitor, ARB, or calcium channel blocker. If these alone do not do the trick, or if there is heart failure present, a diuretic may be added.
  4. It appears that the losartan was at most just a part of the problem since wermeks after stopping you are still weak more often than not. Also seems your BP off it is not too bad.
  5. The pricing schedule exists but has never, in any of its versions, been followed because it is so unrealistic. Actual prices for Thais is much higher than shown abd have been for years. So that document is of no real use.
  6. So you stopped losartsn 19 Feb? But still feeling tired?
  7. @mokwit Yoh did not realky answer my first question which is if the weakness/fatigue is mainly in the legs vs all over. Losartan can cause stiff/weak legs but is a less likely explanation for extreme over all fatigue. You also don't mention chemo dates. How long since last given? And when was your last CBC? (Blood count). Extreme fatigue in chemo patients often accompanies drop in RBC/WBC and this can come on quite suddenly. Unless you had a CBC in past 2 week I would suggest to repeat it and when you do, also check electrolytes. Make sure to stay well hydrated in this heat. Abd replace electrolytes if you have been sweating. How hugh wsdad BP before starting losartan? And what dose are you on?
  8. That surprises me as I would have expected more of a mark up. Still a lot per tablet but most people could afford.
  9. Are you feeling this msmsinly in your legs? Weskness/heaviness in ghr legs is a known (but not very common) side effect. Overall fatigue is not common. When did this start? and when did you last have a complete check up? Any other underlying diseases? Other medications?
  10. Madiplot is a calcium channel blocker. Same class as amlodopine. Swelling of feet and legs is a known side effects of this class of dtug. Side effects do not occur in all patients. This particular effect occurs in about 1/4 of people taking these medications i.e. 3 out 9f 4 people do not experience it.
  11. We understand this and it is these (more specifically the Thailand VN segment) that you need. Because to enter visa exempt you are required to have proof of onward travel within 30 days. They don't udually check this on arrival at immigration but many airlines enforce it at check in.
  12. Great! I was hoping this was the case. Is the parking entrance on Ratchatawee? And thanks to @soi3eddie and @Chicksaw for their kind offers. Will not be needed since there is parking right at the Institute. But much appreciated.
  13. Actualy just 1 1/2 tabs as the HCTZ dose is 12.5mg and lowest available is 25mg so you take 1/2. There are several local generic brands of Losartan. I mostly use the GPO brand .
  14. Would not remotely occur to the doctors and other staff who initially treated him at the scene and in the ER. Might in a Westrrn country (medicolegal issues as well as insurance) but would not in Thailand. Nor would they be likely to remember now even if someone could track them fown. The only way to "prove" this would be CCTV footage and very difficult for family to get hold of it. (Helmet aside would show how the accident occurred. There may be another diver at fault.). Unfortunately probing these angles would take time and money.
  15. Exactly. He should buy the onward ticket befire leaving US easy enough to fo online.
  16. If taking losartan plus diuretic, much cheaper to buy the two separately. Taking Hyzaar (an import) vs locally made losaratn and HCTZ = about 5 times the cost.
  17. Only if you take the position that the use of helmet has to be proven. I would think the opposite. If one takes the position that the insurer would need to prove no helmet use then they are in the wrong since it appears no such proof exists.
  18. No reason to assume this, In fact, given statements that it cannot be proved one way or the other if helmet was, have to assume it was not. Or, if it was, was discarded (or, if still usable, pinched). Even if helmet was still on his head, rescue workers would have removed it to examine the wound etc and would not have been likely to bring it with him to the hospital. And certainly no one would go looking for one if it had bounced off.
  19. The lower number is less "elastic" i.e. does not readily change in repsonse to temporary conditions. Whereas the upper number will go up whenever stressed, in pain, after a sneeze or cough etc etc So in that sense a better measure
  20. bumrungrad indeed does nto have separate price for foreigners. It is expensive for everyone. However some private hospitals do. I believe BPH has 3 tiered pricing: Thais, resident expats and tourists. But cashier will often just assume all foreigners are tourists. Worth looking into if using that hospital (i.e. make sure you get resident expat not tourist price)
  21. Molnupiravar in high risk individuals, makes no difference to deaths or hospitalizations, but shortens the duration of illness. https://www.bmj.com/content/379/bmj.o3055 There is no data on its use in non-high risk individuals. It is quite expensive and you would have to get it at a hospital. If I were a healthy 55 year old fully vaxxed, I probably would not bother
  22. The problem is that these reports in Thailand are usual sketchy in the extreme and may make no mention od helmet either way. In fact given the way the issue is described they clearly did not mention. This is Thailand, Thsi police and rescue services (sic) do not know about or think of foreign travel insurance issues when responding to an accident. Doctors cannot say for sure based on an injury whether a helmet was worn. So no evidence either way. IMO the burden of proof lies with insurer not the indured. I think an appeal to Ombudsman would have good chance of success. But will take time.
  23. Lovely offer. If i can't confirm hospital parking I'll send you a PM.
  24. Thanks but don't want to do anything but get the vaccines and leave.
