Difference blood sugar measurement (device vs blood test)
Sheryl replied to MJCM's topic in Health and Medicine
Nothing to ask if it a FBS but as explained FBS is not as helpful as HB1Ac, which is a separate and different test - but which if concerned about blood sugar is what you should request. -
Anyone had the Rezum procedure at Bkk/Pattaya Hospital?
Sheryl replied to giddyup's topic in Health and Medicine
If you are just now starting medication then it is premature to think of Rezum. If BPH is doing Rezum they must have just started so if it comes to that I would recommend going to BNH in Bangkok as they have more experience. You can read one member's experience here -

Agree rhat eith a PSA over 6, unless there is infection, workup for prostate cancer might be indicated. About 25% of PSA rkevatikns in ghe 4-1[ range are due to cancer. Would help to know what prior PSA levels were. -

Sorry I do not understand this reply. What I said was, there is no need to check blood sugar at home if HB1Ac is normal. But if you want to check it at home , the fact that lab gave a different reading an hour later is no reason to distrust your home device. -
+ for Rutnin. Specifically recommend thisdoctor there https://www.rutnin.com/en/doctor/detail.36.1_Roy_0_0.html#thumb

Not necessary if HB1Ac is in normal range. But you can if you want to. There is no reason to think anything wrong with the machine. -

Not all IOs offer this. In fact most do not. -
Most psychiatrists do not accept adult onset ADHD as a valid diagnosis. Unless she had this in childhood it is unlikely to be ADHD. There are many other conditions that can seem like ADHD. Including mood disorders, borderline perdonality etc. Substance abuse also needs consideration. So rather than seeking testing for ADHD you should more broadly be seeking an overall psychiatric assessment (but before wasting time and money on that be sure to rule out substance abuse). There may be a psychiatrist or two at Vachira, the main government hospital in Phuket town but they will be rather junior and I doubt she will get a meaningful psych assessment done. Closest good option gor that is government pysch hospital in Surat Thani. https://www.suansaranrom.go.th/

Contact the bank HQ is what one can do (but has to be done by the jount account holder thenself.) Very, very common here for branch staff not to know, or incorrectly appy, the rules/procedures. Update: just notice OP post stating maymtter fully resolved by simply speaking to branch manager (as opposed to staff). Bever, ever assume low level staff know what they are doing or will follow through on anything out of the ordinary here in Thailand. There is a strong cultural reluctance to: - admit one does not know something - ask one's superor a question or refer a matter to them - take any action or decision if there is any perceived risk of it being wrong And conversely there is great willingness to stall or fob customers off with lies and excuses. Especially if customer is perceived to meek and/or if low social status.

Difference blood sugar measurement (device vs blood test)

Bloid sugat naturally fluctuates moment to moment just as BP does. Comparisons are meaningless unless done on same blood sample Also like BP, stress will elevate blood sugar ( though not as severely as with BP). The body naturally releases glucose into the blood when it experiences stress, mental or physical. Typically more stress is felt when undergoing venipuncture at a lab than when doing own fingerstick at home. Years ago I bought a home monitor as my FBS on check ups was consistently around 110 - 115. Rather a waste of money as it turned out sugar was always under 100 at home. Hb1Ac is a much better marker than FBS and gets around the problem of momentary spikes due to stress etc. If getting a test at a lab I strongly advise Hb1Ac and not FBS. -
The beauty of using an agent.
Sheryl replied to JeffersLos's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Some of us live in places with no agents. And do not want to use an agent in a different province who will register us somewhere that we do nto live. I would love to use an agent to avoid the extreme unpleasantness of dealing with my IO. But I have yet to find a single one that will process anything at my IO. -

He seems to be the top doctor for this in CM. But as he is also at CMU you might look into whether you can get this done by him at lower cost at either Sriphat or Maharaj.

Any experience with Amlodipine blood pressure medication
Sheryl replied to steveb5's topic in Health and Medicine
On the contrary, calcium channel blockers like amlodopine are often given alone as first line treatment of essential hypertension and beta blockers are no longer recommended for that purpose (though very useful in managing some heart conditions). There are 3 classes of drug that may be used as first line treatment of essential hypertension: ACE inhibitors (enalapril etc) Angiotensin II receptor blockers (losartan etc) Calcium channel blockers (amlodopine etc) -
Brown mixture at the chemist / tincture of opium?
Sheryl replied to hellohello's topic in Health and Medicine
It (as pictured above) is available even at 7 11s but the amount of opium is very slight and mixed with expectorant, so not sure it will help you. But no harm in trying. -
I don' t thinkApril won't enrol you at 65 in any event. Among international insurers your best option is probably Cigna Global. Not to be confused with Cigna Thailand.

To be fair, his incident was not quite as he describes it. the pre-existing condition which he did not declare was quite relevant to the request for pre-authoritzation that was investigated and led to cancellation of his policy, and was noted in the medical documentation submitted by the hospital with that request. While BPH is a totally different condition than prostate cancer it significantly increases the odds of needing a prostate biopsy to distinguish benign from malignant prostate growth, and the pre-authorization request which triggered this was for a prostate biopsy. And the condition was documented in tests he had done prior to taking out the policy. With any policy, it is essential to declare all health conditions at time of application but I have never yet heard of any insurer cancelling a policy over "ingrowing toenail, botox injections, bunions etc". The key issue is whether the non-declared condition would, if it had been made known, affected the coverage the insurer would offer, and BPH most certainly would have. I have APril insurance and have had many claims paid by them with no problem. But I declared all existing conditions (including one I had never seen a doctor for but detected during routine check up) and accepted an exclusion accordingly. (I was given choice of exclusion or higher premium, opted for the former).

This issue has been done to death in prior threads. Use google search function, not forum search. "health insurance site:aseannow.com" Key issue is whether you get local (Thai issued) policy or an internationally issued expat policy. Be aware that Thai companies are allowed to raise rates on an individual basis after you make a claim which to my mind negates the value of insurance. They also have a generally worse track record when it comes to pay outs. Definitely want a policy that does full medical underwriting rather than moratorium basis. Otherwise you do not know in advance what may be covered in the first few years. Whether Thai policy or international policy, at your age options will be limited. And should always get through a broker. Many of us use AA.

Diarrhea Since Over Two Weeks - Won't Go Away

The only way to be certain of the status of things and what, if anything, is further required is for her or her son to call the Bank HQ. They will then discuss with the branch and let them know definitively. It is not at all unusual in Thailand for bank branches to make up their own rules and also not unusual for staff to stall when confronted with anything they are unsure about or don't know how to do. Especially if customer is meek about it. Which bank is this?

You are thinking of scabies not psoriasis. And indeed these pictures look like possible scabies and not at all like psoriasis. Bed bug bites are another possibility.
