  1. Countless TV members have had this done and there have been many, many threads on it. Google "cataract + site:aseannow.com" Costs for the surgery alone (i e. not including initial visit and tests) per eye for standard lens ranges from about 20k at an upcountry government hospital to >100k at the most expensive private hospitals. If other than standard lens is used this adds substantially to the cost. It is a day surgery with local anesthetic. If you want suggestions on hospital/doctor please indicate where in Thailand you are. And any other known medical or eye problems .
  2. There is no registered brand of darolutamide in Thailand. Enzalutamide is available only as imported brand Xtandl and must be obtained at a hospital. Hospital pharmacies here do not sell to the general public, they only provide medications ordered by a doctor on staff at that hospotal. So you would have to see an oncologist at a hospital. Where in Thailand are you?
  3. Completely off topic posts about dual passports remived. I don't know what thread they were meant for but they certainly did nto belong here.
  4. Most people use Accucheck. readily availabel at pharmacies here. However for someone who is pre-diabetic I would recommend instead of daily FBS an Hb1Ac every few months - any lab can do it, no need to fast. In fact that woudl also suffice for most Type 2 diabetics, only exception being thoseo n insulin.
  5. No, the effect (if any) is licllocal to the area injected. Stem celks would never be first line if treatment and are at this point tecommended only for certain types of injuries/problems. The most common cause for knee pain not associated with an injury is osteoarthritis. Physical therapy can be very helpful as can HA injections.
  6. As other posted asked -- for what condition are you considering this? Please specify. Mkaes a huge difference.
  7. It is up to the hospital. Some do, some do not. The most expensive hospitals do not. Those that do, usually have a limit to how many SS recipients they will enroll and wait lists are common. If you have been able to nominate Phyathai Sri Racha as your SS Hodpital you are very fortunate.
  8. Most government hospitals just charge 1 price, period. For all. Of course for most Thais, it is paid by one of the 3 systems that comprise thw universal health care system. But in Bangkok and other locations which see a significant number of foreigners many hospitals do charge more. I know that at Siriraj it is 25% more.
  9. Actually most government hospitals do not have this. Hospitals are allowed to have tiered pricing but for most it is not worth the hassle. Only those lilocated in areas where they see a significant number of foreigners do this.
  10. Exactly. Many travel policies do not cover being on a motorcycle and those that do, do so only if holding a valid licence (valid for what is being driven and where it is being driven) and provided not in any way breaking the law i.e. not under the influence.
  11. I am not sure that OP needs a spinal specialist (despite thread title). He recently had a stroke and is having trouble walking.
  12. I assume you mean physical therapist? People have spoken well of this place https://www.bpcphysio.com/ But a bit outside your zip code, you'd need Uber or taxi Within your zip code, I have no sppecific feedback on it but Sikarin Hospital has a Rehabilitation Dept https://www.sikarin.com/clinics-centers/ศูนย์ฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพ
  13. There are 2 issues: (1) the safety of the source water, which of course varies greatly by location. Problems can include both pathogens and, in some cases with well water, arsenic. (the latter will not be in quantities that are immediately dangerous but can cause a problem over time if consumed regularly). (2) the condition of all the pipes between the source and your taps -- this can vary across buildings even close together. Here the issue is heavy metals from corroding pipes. Boiling will take care only of pathogens, not heavy metals. I actually do cook and brush my teeth with my tap water but do not drink it -- and I have whole house water filters.

  16. As long as they are clearly labelled and quantity looks consistent with short term personal use , absolutely nothing. This is not a narcotic. But you could also easily get it here.
  17. Innumerable AN members have had hernia repairs done in Thailand. Some in Bangkok, some upcountry. Cost will depend on the hospital and the technique: laparoscopic costs more than open approach. And if you opt for laparoscopic and during the procedure (as can happen, especially with overweight patients ) they find they have to switch to open, you still pay the higher laparoscopic price. As for hospital, government hospitals cost far less than private (difference usually 4-5 fold) BUT there are long waits for elective surgeries at govt hospitals, especially in Bangkok and post COVID. Also need a Thai speaker to help you navigate the system and expect what can be done in a single pre-appointed visit at a private hospital to tajke multiple visits at a government hospital, each taking the better part of a day. Some prior threads you might like review: https://aseannow.com/topic/976068-inguinal-hernia-cost-experience-and-recovery/page/2/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1134352-inguinal-hernia/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1137718-inguinal-hernia-surgery-recommendations/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1111879-inguinal-hernia-surgery-cost/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1241016-shopping-for-surgery-to-repair-inguinal-hernia/
  18. Presumably they already know more. No reason to think the scanty info in the media is the sum total of what is known by the police at this time.
  19. No one has said he died of an "unexplained head injury". If they know he had a head injury (which is not certain, that part is coming from anecdotal reports within Thailand) then they would surely know the cause. What is known is that the Leicestershire police say death was not suspicious
  20. Posts with baseless speculation (inconsistent with news reports) and unfounded innuendos, and replies to same, have been removed. It is stated he suffered head trauma from a fall. it is not unusual for people with head trauma to seem fine and later be found unresponsive. Happens due to slow brain bleeds.
  21. Many of these clinics are operating contrary to Thai Medical Council regulations and there gave been some spectacular adverse effects (including tumors and death). They get shut down regularly but more crop up. Definitely not advisable (and no guarantee that the treatment you get will even really include stem cells). Stick to proper hospitals. These will only provide stem cell therapy that has been approved (which is only at this point for a limited range of conditions) or as part of a formal clinical trial.
  22. I had exact same experience with injection (though at L6/7). And like you, the pain was worst lying down and greatoy disturbed my sleep. The initial relief confirms that they have correctly identified the source of the pain. Short duration suggests rhat there is nerve compression and unless there high risk factors for surgery, would usually be an infication for dmsurgery. Nowadays there are less invasive techniques which give very good results. I had minimally invasive decompression surgery and got immediate and so far (more than a year later) permanent relief.
  23. The 2 person flamefest is officially over and posts have been deleted. Cease and desist.
  24. Way above my pay grade, you need to consult an endocrinologist about that.
  25. Oh yes, it is definitely that bad. But that is not the key issue here. Rather it is that they are insisting on deporting him to Poland and, for unspecified reasons, he/his family believe he would be in danger there.
