  1. Mai Ow Emm Esss Geee Khap

You can say it any way you like, but they'll just smile and nod and do nothing. The MSG, also known as KerNor (Knorr seasoning) will be in there anyway. No escape really.

Today you can buy stock cubes without MSG made by Knorr (green package). Thailands food labelling system is OK for me, as it always points out the amount of MSG, sugar and other ingredients.

Note you need to find the ones with small Thai writing that specifically say this.. Other green ones are the same as the Yellow

Sent from my LG-P970 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

If you buy, prepare and eat only your own ingredients there's no problem; just at food stalls and even restaurants where you have no control or way of knowing how much MSG (or anything else) goes into the food.

  2. A friend of mine just did a border crossing and asked the officer in charge about my situation and the Officer told him I would be in the data base as being deported and would face problems for sure when I tried to re enter even if I was not Blacklisted , my name would show up as deported for overstay ???? even though I paid the fine ,.... I only want to do the right thing and be 100% correct in all legal maters in Thailand.

It's a pity you didn't feel the same way before you had the problem, because it sounds like you may well have a problem if you come back. Stop shooting the messengers just because they're not telling you what you want to hear.

Regarding the 'credibility' of the forum, it's more yours that's in doubt.

  3. In the last two centuries America has steadily usurped Britains position as the dominant world power. If you think America is intrusive in the affairs of other countries, then just take a look at this map which depicts the only 22 countries in the world that Britain has NOT invaded.

    attachicon.gifthe-only-countries-britain-has-not-invaded.jpg

And you think any of those countries would be so much better off if they hadn't? Notice they didn't bother with Thailand. smile.png

Of course the British invaded Thailand in the course of WWII. It's a pretty difficult fact to dispute. I'll attach a headline. You only need to perform 30 seconds of online research before you start providing your mis-information. As I said in my previous post, there are very few countries that were exempt from Britain's imperialism.

Whoops, my bad. I was thinking 'colonised' (or colonized if you prefer). Of course Thailand and Thais suffered terribly from the British Invasion.

At least everyone's speaking English now

Americans will say that's due to the internet.

Most Thais don't speak it though.

  5. Last year watched a news clip about the high speed train crash in Spain. A few minutes into the clip I heard something that infuriated me ...

It is too late for our generation; we are already screwed, but let's at least try to do something to give our children a fighting chance at having a normal life, not having their every move controlled by Big Brother.

    Nice rant. Feel better now?

  7. The problem with Americans is that when you start taking the piss out of them they think you're being serious laugh.png

The problem with most Yanks is, they dont have a sense of humour, have you ever watched Yank comedy shows, utter crap.

Gawd I love NY, every one there is a NYorker not a Yank.

Please list the ones you have seen and think are crap.

Also list some British shows that are to your taste.

I might be able to hook you up, dude.

Perhaps you haven't been exposed to the stuff you would like. You do realize there are probably thousands of choices and that American comedy is very diverse?

BTW, I am a big fanny (oops) of many British comedy shows and I simply don't believe an intelligent English speaking person can't find some American comedy shows that would amuse them,

I suppose though that some people are pathetically PROVINCIAL and can't appreciate comedy from any country other than their own. A pity.

Everybody Loves Raymond – including me, a Brit, but just realised he's a NYer!

  8. For Malaysia Airlines, I don't see any fault on them from this attack on their plane. The first incident doesn't reflect well on them. They will no longer be flying in that path over Ukraine. So I think the rational thing to evaluate any extra risk with flying Malaysia is ignore the attack incident. So still not great but not as bad as the PR they are getting now, which is more about bad luck than bad airline.

Another factor aside from crash risk is the risk in buying a ticket for an airline that might be on a path of bankruptcy. I know they are national carrier. Does that mean their government will keep operating no matter what?

Quite likely, but they might have to cut more corners to stay in business. While there are several other reputable carriers, why tempt fate?

  9. I am flying with MAS in a few weeks time.

Avoid the same flight path mentioned here, at all costs.

    Good luck.

I'd ask for a huge discount or change my flight to a different airline or aircraft type. Two Malaysian 777 disasters with total loss of life in a matter of months. What are the odds of that happening? And according to the superstitious, these things can come in threes...

I can't agree with you about wanting a discount - I would prefer to fly with someone else if I wasn't happy not try to die with a few more dollars in the bank.

Really depends on how much of a betting man you are.

  11. Its so typical of today s world there is to many scammers.

There have always been many scammers in the world but the internet has made it easier or at least more visible.

Especially the Nigerian ones who are past masters. They were using snail mail long before the internet and email came along. I received my first at a UK company in 1987! The format of all upper case and Christian slant is still in use. Many more variations on the theme now though.

  12. Domestic extractor fans are usually only 40-50W - less than old light bulbs or tubes. Unless you've got an industrial extractor, using the lighting circuit and switch is not really an issue.

True, it will work but , If the light circuit is used for this purpose then the socket should be clearly marked Fan Only or designed to only accept the fan plug ( here in Aus we can use a special plug and socket for this purpose ) It is not acceptable and is illegal in lots of countries to put a general use power socket on a light circuit.

That may well be, but we are talking about Thailand, right? biggrin.png
