Call me skeptical, but far too many of these stories, almost as though they are fake, just why would a cabby look under a seat, I have never seen a follow up comment from any of these tourists, thanking the cabby, airport worker etc maybe they are one of the expats that have sold their souls to the devil.... TAT.

Over some damage to a motorbike.
Wow, you should write novels.... love the imagination, hey, an elephant could have run amock and sorted all of them out.

two wrongs do not make a right. whichever way you look at the foreigners were wrong in that vicious and brutal attack.
You might be right but hey, if your on the winning side it sure feels good.

you can not hit and run. so the issue is not the thai position or otherwise. they should have stopped after hitting another vehicle. similarly the owners of the vehicle was hit do not have to play heroes and give chase. i am pretty sure they would beaten up the driver if he was alone.
Ah, but then again, did they actually hit the bike, we only have the thai version..

While I am against the idea of poor treatment of anyone. I would say that the USA treats Mexicans like slaves. And in the UK, and other EU countries, treat people from Poland and the old Russian Block countries; are treated the same way.
Low pay ; 6-8 people in one room. Etc. Etc.
What about China, India ?? Indian girls getting raped by 3-4 guys; and the government doesn't care !
The spot light is on Thailand because reporters love to come here. Weather, food, entertainment etc etc.
Let them report on Vietnam, China, India. They will not go.
Um, guess what, we know all countries have problem BUT this is about Thailand, how about keeping on subject, I know, for some, it can be hard, but try.

I see another committee, with its big budget, coming soon. End result, all will be above board.

Will the Thai equivalent of Paul Revere be rushing around all 7-11s in tourist areas to warn,
The Chinese Are Coming, better stock up ?
No, it could be more like "where have the Chinese gone!"

The bikers vehicle was fleeing. It was reasonable of the owner of the motorbike to pursue before checking to inspect his vehicle for damage...same as any other country the bikers had a legal obligation to stop and they instead ran.
They are no better than the Thai scum that everyone, including me, is always complaining about here.
The problem I see, here, is everyone is believing the thai version, this could be a mistake.

Appears to me it would have been a fair fight if the Thai man's friends had not been such cowards and ran away. If the thai guys would have stayed and helped it would probably have been one on one.or 3 on 3 depends on how you look at it. Blame themselves for their friends beating. I am sure the Thai's will return with all the young guys from the village to even the score when they can make it 5 to one in their favor.
Even then it could prove dangerous for the thais.

And I suppose if it was your bike that got rammed by a vehicle and damaged but didn't stop, you'd make no attempt to go and talk to the driver?
Get the bloody plate number, then take it to the cops. Why risk a confrontation, oh wait, unless you think the numbers are on your side.

As I said 'i think'.
And if this was a bar hopping tourist without protection I would say there is every chance it has to do with this accident.
But you are making things up, don't you see how stupid that is.

Please respect the laws of Thailand.
"Respect" not a word that should be associated with many things in Thailand. Respect is earned.

I did not know Thailand had changed its currency, from baht to dollar, when did this happen.

Since you asked nicely. I think that in general expats are more likely to wear full protective clothing, more likely to wear a good quality helmet, the bike is more likely to have good 3rd party insurance and the rider is less likely to go bar hopping.
It still has nothing to do with this accident.
I would also like you to prove you comment, I don't believe anyone has ever surveyed bike riding expats.

If someone makes claims about your company that makes you lose money or possibly lose all your customers don't you think you should have a right to take them to court?
If Andy Hall had hard evidence then he would of been found not guilty.
It wasn't up to Andy, the story was published by Finnwatch, so legally Andy didn't defame anyone, I do hope you can understand this.

Rental or not could make a big difference regarding rider mentality, protection, insurance, etc.
That's plain rubbish, please give us your knowledge on how rental, or not, makes a difference... an idiot on a rental, is an idiot on a non rental, no helmet on a rental is just as stupid as no helmet on a non rental, no insurance on a rental is the same as no insurance on a non rental. stevenl, you have made one very strange comment. And please, keep it relevant to this accident, and how whether a rental, or not, makes any difference, in my opinion the guy would have died no matter what.

From the sticker on the front mudguard, it looks like a rental big bike.
It seems to be a CB 650 F. With 86 horsepower, this is not a bike for beginners.
The front forks look to have been replaced. Was this due to a previous crash or suspension upgrade? The red plate may be related to a reluctance on the part of the rental company to legally register the bike, if it is a rental.
I'm amazed you can tell all that from one photo, anyway what bloody difference does it make whether it's a rental or not.

Again, this ridiculous and foul expectation that foreigners are to carry their passports at all time. It is beyond inane. Who is going to take that kind of risk? A color copy is adequate. Carry a copy of your passport main page, plus the visa page. Top brass from immigration have stated publicly that is adequate. I would call out any police officer who did not accept that. NEVER, ever carry your original passport, unless you are traveling to the airport, cashing some travelers checks, or have specific reason to do so.
Many countries don't require you to carry your passport, though it would be advisable to carry some form of ID. Thailands policy is plain crazy, but craziness is what we expect.

For once, I actually agree to a large extent with the authorities on this issue. These people in the nick currently have amassed billions of baht according to the Bangkok Post. Sure they have provided "tours" of some kind, but from the reports available they have conducted a very mafia-esque operation, and infringed upon the businesses of regular tourism operators who despite what TAT might say will really be struggling to really make decent money by tourism in the current economic climate
First, just what is "illegal" about these "zero dollar/baht"( wish they'd make up their minds dollar or baht) secondly, if the companies are legal what is wrong with competing with Thai companies.... oh wait Thais hate any competition.

I'm not convinced that mob justice is better than no justice, but it's certainly more regular and consistent.
When the police are so incompetent, corrupt and so damn lazy, then mod justice will increase.

Reminds me of some of the films I saw as a kid, and even Jack Benny etc. on TV. "Get the hook, get the hook" and the "performer" was pulled off stage. I periodically send some of my retired police friends back in the states the utube's of Thai's finest at work. OMG, the replies I get...lol.

Australia crowned as the world's best steak producer

Um, I, and I suggest most intelligent readers, don't think the article alluded to ALL steaks, from Australia, but hey, if that's how you understand it, then so be it.
