You speak of walking, not running ? if walking, do you have a site with events ?; I know some for running, but not for walking

before Khao yai, there is a nice forest to walk or run, but it's near road 33, not 304 , name is "  Kao ito ", near Prachinburi  ( in Kabin buri , turn left to Prachinburi )

Actually, you could join the running events. Many offer shorter 5km and 10km distances where at least half the participants walk the entire thing, often stopping to relax and take photos along the way. Look on facebook for "wingnaidee". They list all the running (and walking) events around Thailand. Look for trail runs, and see if you can find anything that interests you.

As far as purely walking goes, I am sorry, I am afraid I don't know of any sites.

For experienced flyers (like expats), this sort of thing matters. However, the average tourist travelers would not have a clue. Nor would they choose airlines based on such refined details.

So, I think you are correct but not for the majority of flyers. For most, economy is economy.

Yes, perhaps you are correct about the majority of flyers. Shouldn't we expect a journalist to research and know more about the subject matter than "the majority" of the articles they publish however?

  3. "Let’s face it, the seating is much the same, give or take, in just about any plane now. Unless you have the deeper pockets and can afford to sit closer to the front of the plane, you’re in cattle class whether you’re on Thai Airways, Air Asia or RyanAir. A Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 is much the same aeroplane no matter who is flying it"

Nope, totally disagree, and the writer loses all credibility when making such an incorrect statement. Just follow the below link for a beginners course in the differences between different economy seats in different airlines. Spoiler alert, Thai airways rates better than most with a 32" average pitch, and an 18" seat width. Ryan Air fyi, 30" and 17".

  4. There are no walks in Khao Yai that match your description that I am aware of. I too searched a few years back. There are a few trails that exist, but these are barely visible paths that are too easy to deviate from without having a guide. Sadly, Thailand doesn't really have the types of walking tracks that you can find in many western countries, with well defined and maintained tracks with markers and huts etc. You can find shorter 15 - 30 minute walks at some popular tourist destinations, and walking to the top of some waterfalls like Erawan can be a 1 hour return trip, but that's about it.

The only way I have manged to get out into the forests in any regular and meaningful way is to join one of the multitude of organised trail run events that are held pretty much every week around the country.

  5. "The Airline has been criticised for resisting changes to its business culture and upper management – long accused of cronyism, nepotism and inefficiencies."

"Aviation analysts say the legacy airline struggles to operate with ageing aircraft, declining tourist arrivals and a strong Thai currency."

I'm going to go with the former reasons, not the latter, as the primary reasons for the poor performance. Tourist numbers have been rising year on year (apparently), and I doubt the numbers of planes/seats Thai operates has been increasing to the same degree. Having said that, if most increases are from Chinese chartered/low Budget flights, they won't have been seeing any upswing. Prices for flights on Thai have been pretty stable over the last 3-5 years as well. There prices are sometimes higher (all things being equal, meaning margins should be higher too), but many are willing to accept this for a direct long haul flight. While Thai does operate some older aircraft like 747s and 777s, they also operate A380s and 787s too. Thai also offers comparatively more legroom in economy than most airlines. So yeah, there are things to complain about, but as someone who takes about a dozen long haul flights with them a year, on balance they weight favourably in my mind.

The "cronyism, nepotism and inefficiencies" on the other hand. Totally believable, and quite likrley the airline's biggest problem.
