  1. I can’t be critical because even after living here off and on for 15 years my Thai language skills are rudimentary at best. I dare say there are more like me out there. For me to criticise would be downright hypocrisy. I take my hat off to those that are multilingual but cannot condone criticism of those that aren’t.
  2. This figure equates to 18 per day. Not sure what all the hype is about. More effort needed on the other 358 days.
  3. I do like a good Khanom khrok but many skimp on the coconut milk. Quality is so much dependent on a generous portion of coconut milk. Anything less leads to a bland product. Same applies for mango and sticky rice.
  4. Perhaps get Sylvester Stallone on board to assess whether or not it’s escape proof. Where do they dream this stuff up? Logistics and cost effectiveness would be off the scale, let alone security needs.
  5. And that’s exactly what he is doing. He couldn’t give a sh!t if Thailand and Cambodia kill each other. He has little regard for human life and no time for a peaceful, meaningful outcome. He’s an opportunist bully pretending to be a peacemaker at the expense of others.
  6. On the flip side I believe Hun is shoring up his stranglehold on the Cambodian political landscape for another 20 years especially with the closed press he has at his disposal.
  7. Thailand has tried with 3 leadership changes to no avail. I suspect if Cambodia changed out Hun the hun it may solve the problem.
  8. Under the guise of a considered court decision.
  9. God forbid. Where does this oaf find the TIME with his attempts to make Thailand a laughing stock?
  10. About 40 years ago I hitched most of the way from oing Khai to Chiang Rai. They were very different roads back then. Many were dirt. The only problem was a ride from Chiang Khong towards Chiang Rai in the back of a pickup with a very friendly Islamic guy who stopped every 5 or 10 minutes to try and offer me a good reason to convert. Other than that no issues at all. I also did Chiang Mai to Pai on a timber truck. That was great.
  11. True, but there will definitely be an opportunity to observe, in real time, the effects on the ground, especially in the early morning hours between 12-6am. Foreign tourists who stay out that late often end up in or cause trouble when they’ve drunken too much and lose all sense of etiquette. The 2-5pm curfew on alcohol sales has been nothing more than an inconvenience to everyone and I don’t see any drawbacks with easing that at all. A 6 month trial is about right and hopefully the tourists behave and nobody becomes a victim of drunken indiscretions.
  12. You mean like what’s happening with ICE and the use of the DOJ and National Guard? This approach may be described as a passive response to certain situations versus an over the top aggressive response to manufactured crises as a tool to blatantly take down political opponents and dissenters. Time will tell whether this NYC approach is successful but at least it’s done without hate and malice as the main drivers.
  13. And you know this, how? From a very reliable source, no doubt. You forgot to mention that the earth is flat. You also forgot to mention that January 6 was a peaceful gathering of concerned pacifist Christian do-gooders.
  14. Perhaps just setting you up for the big one later on.
  15. He’s slipperier than an eel in a bucket full of KY gel. This meeting will be more about stonewalling the release of the documents. It’s gonna keep Honest Mike Johnson busy doing what he does best. Lying and cheating and lying. There’s not a single set of balls in the GOP who will vote for the release despite all the noise. It’s gonna be up to the voters sitting outside the 35%.
  16. He’s already forgotten and moved onto his next photo op.
  17. Not all but a great many and it’s only getting worse.
  18. Not unless he’s Indian scamming his insurance company
  19. Won’t be long before these same laws are enacted in the USA by order of the president.
  20. Just in case I ever make it onto the news I played roles in 2 Hong Kong movies about 40 years ago. A cop and an army colonel. (Lt. Colonel actually) Anyhow, I’m hoping this guy’s donation makes life on the frontline a bit more bearable. Good on him.
  21. Another presidential decree or was it his lap dog Kash wielding the axe?
  22. Not even close in your comparison. He’s an elected official and as such should be answerable to public scrutiny otherwise he’s just another wannabe despot.
  23. You reap what you sow. He can dish it out but his soft thin skin can’t take the slightest hint of criticism or scrutiny of his dubious ventures. The guy is a bully and a fraud and this is one of the tools he uses to cover it up.
