How about a solar car port on a budget?

Local LOW at Pak Kret today, not as low as yesterday ???? Hopefully we won't get a repeat of yesterday's downpour this afternoon. After yesterday's garden inundation our entire population of earth-worms took refuge on the concrete path which was still dry, at which point our chooks ate them ...

Many Areas Of Bangkok Flooded After Torrential Rain
Crossy replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I made my escape from the BTS Admin building at about 3PM. No flooding at the time but the heavy rain was just getting going. The rain lashed as far north as Rangsit for a long time leading to localised flooding around the market (which was already somewhat damp from khlong Rangsit anyway). Of course all this extra water hasn't helped with the river flow rate meaning our garden is under water, we really don't need another similar day ????- 39 replies

I was rather surprised there was no DHL paperwork at all with the beast, it would have been nice to know what the revised customs value was, but I'm not about to poke any hornet's nests. I did ask about sending the dead one back. The response wasn't a direct "no" but "shipping is very expensive and we have no way of recycling it" which in my mind is pretty close to a "no". I shall do nothing** until they actually ask for it back. ** Apart from search on the web and the various user groups to see if anyone has actually de-bricked a Sofar unit after a failed firmware update

Pak Kret water report seems to have gone off-line ????
-
Nothing useful to be gleaned from the (no) paperwork left with Madam, but nothing to pay at this end. Whether Sofar picked up any charges is unknown. It's definitely a new inverter with all the necessary accessories, nothing added, nothing taken away. EDIT Actually it didn't have the WiFi dongle but works just fine with the existing one.

Local high at Pak Kret ???? Garden is somewhat damp, I think I'd class this as "Somewhat Alarmed" level:-

Remember Cupid Stunt?

No dicey cops (ok there was customs involved), and you need at least one ladyboy, a midget and possibly a ghost or two for a proper Thai soap.
-
It was customs who inspected it, but ... I might just power the beast up on the bench before mounting it, just in case
-
YES!! And looks like nothing to pay (Madam didn't call to ask for $$$) Once I see the actual paperwork, we might see the revised customs value. Photo sent by Madam

Unfortunately Madam is at the hospital today, so if they want to deliver after about 12.00 it will have to wait.

No idea, but I've noticed it too.

I'm going to buzz this over to Alternative Energy where it's permitted. -
Looks like we've made it past this afternoon's local high time with still 30cm before "Worry". The peak at Pak Kret was slightly lower than yesterday, hope it keeps this up. Still pretty damp of course. But the kit-form sandbags have been delivered.
-
Yeah, I reckon it's arrived. There was a pretty big jump in level yesterday. We shall see what this afternoon's high brings. Pak Kret looks pretty OK but it's only a couple of hours after local low tide.

Interesting, I wonder if ours is busted or was disabled by the dealer, not that I'm complaining.

I'm not a great enthusiast either, although I don't see it as much of a safety hazard, it's an increasingly common "feature" on modern vehicles and of course hybrids do it all the time. That said. In the >5 years we've had our Mu-X (which has auto-start) I've never managed to make it actually stop the engine. Even deliberately trying to make it activate. The list of things which prevent the engine from stopping is quite extensive and includes the A/C compressor and whilst I don't have it set to "Arctic" the A/C does tend to be turned on There's a switch on the dash to turn off the facility anyway. Now if I could turn off the automatic door locking I would. In the UK always liked to drive with my door unlocked, secure in the knowledge that if I wrapped it round a tree someone will be able to open the door and get me out. I know the doors are supposed to unlock when the airbags deploy but that's one more thing to fail. But in modern times the risk of somebody carjacking possibly negates that desire.

Even our chihuahuas plus the geese are effective noise makers if anyone untoward (or the postman) is in the area. Lights and noise are the burglar's enemy. With the current water level they would need a boat too ????

Making them Class-2 (double-insulated) is normal and is fine for normal use, that great lump of metal sticking out the front is protected from becoming live my at least two sets of insulation. Most power tools are now Class-2 no earth required. Cutting the wire is not normal use hence the recommendation to use an RCD which will (probably) protect you from a fatal shock if you do touch a live wire in the cut ends (or will kill the juice first if the end actually touches the ground).
