  1. This ^^^ It might be controlled by the merchant. Lazada rarely asks for and OTP on my (Thailand issued) CitiBank credit card, although I think there may be a value limit. Meanwhile AiS always asks for the OTP no matter how small the reload value.
  2. From the Local Forum roolz;- "If you see a relevant article on the net that may be interesting (doesn't have to be in Thailand), please post. Don't forget to respect the "Fair Use" guidelines, a couple of paragraphs, maybe a photo and a link."
  3. A Tesla charges with the Yallorn brown coal power station in the background. Yallorn is one of the most polluting power stations in Australia. Cited for closure in 2028.

    Water cleaning

@Pink7what do you actually want to achieve? Has your water been tested to determine what needs filtering out?
  5. Local high tide, 32cm below worry. Geese are enjoying the water, gai baan are catching fish!
  6. Level right now is 53cm below Worry Level, we are at local low tide. Last local high tide saw us at 34cm below worry which flooded a significant chunk of the garden. This has left it impossible (ok, very, very squidgy) to access my normal picture-taking spot, so sorry no more photos of the neighbours green house. Next local high will be at about mid-day.
  7. The original boat guy was Plodprasop. You're a bit nearer the sea than we are (we are about 92km as the river flows) and on a different river. What sort of delay are you seeing between high at the gulf and locally? We have about 6 hours give or take.
  8. We have the "Before" photo, how about the "After"??
  9. Nope, since my last post the river has risen to 34cm below Worry Level, up 16cm in 5 hours and the highest it's been this time around. According to Madam this is because of high tides in the gulf and should be down again later. Of course we will have similarly high tides until Tuesday although the lows will be very low. Note that the peak tide this far inland is delayed by nearly 6 hours from the peak at the coast.
  10. We are at 50cm below worry level this morning, level down 5cm on yesterday morning. Maybe those water pushing boats are working ...
  11. The river is probably doing about 1,000m3 per second unassisted. So that's 86,400,000m3 per day. Assuming these beaties have an average pushing capacity of 50,000m3 per day, x 12 that's 600,000m3 per day. So an increase of about 0.7%! I'll keep on filling our freshly delivered sandbags! EDIT WOW!! Our level is down 5cm on this time yesterday so maybe they do work!!! Or maybe it's just tidal effects
  12. Did these actually have a measurable effect last time they were used?
  13. Usually within a few seconds. Can the receiving person send you a QR code (they might need to have Promptpay linked to their account), you can scan it with the SCB App and everything is automagic.
  14. Bell Labs’ solar PV panel, presented in 1954, came not out of nowhere. The silicon solar cell had its roots in less complex devices that could produce electricity from either light or heat. George Cove presented his first “solar electric generator” in 1905 in the Metropole Building in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Apart from an image, there are no data about this panel. However, its power output and efficiency were remarkable enough for US investors to send an expert to Halifax. Based on this expert’s examination of the machine, they then brought Cove to the US (Sommerville, Mass.) to continue the development of his device. 15. I'm not aware that anything has changed, that said, I've not been anywhere for a while. The "Arrival" half of the TM6 has always been retained, you keep the "Departure" side.
  16. Today we have 45cm of freeboard, pretty stable. BUT there's a significant pulse of water on its way. We are at a pretty wide section of the river here (500m) so hopefully not too much rise. When that pulse gets to Nonthaburi where the river is about 250m wide then it's obviously going to lead to a bigger level increase.
  17. No photo today as it was still dark when I left for the office, level is about the same as yesterday.
  18. Once you get in post photos of the distribution board with the lid off so we can see what you have. Big surge arrestors on the incoming supply backed up with small plug-in units on your technology should snub most of the lightning induced stuff. You're unlikely to get a direct hit on the LV stuff assuming the block has it's own transformer. What form does the incoming internet actually take? You speak of a "modem" is it ADSL or something else? What you actually have would determine what you need for protection.
  19. Yeah, they're great for phone chargers, lappies etc. But hair dryers are really a no-no. Also, the cheaper ones won't work well with non-UK plugs once a UK plug has been inserted. We have a few UK style traily leads which I got in Singapore, just fit Thai plugs and you're good to go.
  20. Madam dealt with the entire process so I really don't know what it entailed or even the value of the "donation", sorry. It would be rude to ask her. Meanwhile, with the current state of the river I may need to be cremated with my scuba gear
  21. I'm fine with vegetarian food, I ate loads of it when working in India and very good it was too. What I'm not really understanding is this thing for meat free "meat". On one hand we are being advised not to eat "highly processed" food. On the other is this stuff, plants processed to look, feel, taste approximately like meat (none of which they seem to do particularly well). How much more "highly processed" can you get? "Vegetables are not food, food eats vegetables".
  22. It's difficult to compare, but we are about 1.2m - 1.5m below the peak of to 2011 wetness. 2011 level mark using a DIN standard Thai wife.
