  1. Three bulls heard the rancher was bringing another bull onto the ranch. First Bull: "I've been here five years. I'm not giving this new bull any of my 100 cows." Second Bull: "I've been here three years and have earned my right to 50 cows. I'm keeping all my cows." Third Bull: "I've only been here a year, and so far, you guys have only let me have 10 cows. I may not be as big as you fellows, but I'm keeping all 10 of my cows." Just then an 18-wheeler pulls up in the pasture carrying the biggest bull they've ever seen. At 4,700 pounds, each step he takes strains the steel ramp. First Bull: "I think I can spare a few cows for our new friend." Second Bull: "I actually have too many cows to take care of. I can spare a few. I'm certainly not looking for an argument." They look over at the third bull and find him pawing the dirt, shaking his horns and snorting. First Bull: "Son, don't be foolish, let him have some of your cows and live to tell about it." Third Bull: "Hell, he can have all my cows. I'm just making sure he knows I'm a bull."
  2. Meanwhile ... Chechen warlord shows off gun-mounted Tesla Cybertruck CNN — The warlord leader of Chechnya has mounted a machine gun on a Tesla Cybertruck that he says he plans to send to Russian forces on the battlefields in Ukraine. Ramzan Kadyrov published a video on Saturday of himself driving the vehicle, which he said had been sent to him by “the strongest genius of our time,” Elon Musk, before it was adapted. Musk later denied giving the vehicle to the Chechen leader. “Are you seriously so retarded that you think I donated a Cybertruck to a Russian general?” Musk wrote on X, the social media platform he owns. In the slickly produced video, a grinning Kadyrov is seen driving the vehicle through an empty square in Grozny, Chechnya’s capital. He then gets out of the truck and stands behind the machine gun with an ammunition belt draped round his neck. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/19/europe/chechnya-kadyrov-musk-tesla-cybertruck-intl/index.html
  3. If you don't want to buy a chart there are loads of DIY printable ones online. This is one of many https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ed/Snellen_chart_in_ISO_standard.pdf
  4. The chart linked in the OP is to be used at 5m (about 16'5") distance (yes, they do sell more, er, conventional ones). The big plus of doing it yourself is that you can tailor your prescription to your exact circumstances, screen distance etc.
  5. Madam has gone to the local somtam outlet for something lethal (but delicious). I feel a "system clear out" will be coming on this afternoon 😞
  6. Yeah, I tried varifocals a while back, they just made my head spin. It's possibly because my eyes are very different. But having several pairs is fine, I can safely move around wearing my "computer" pair (not sure I'd try driving in them mind).
  7. Get specs from Zenni, link in the OP, low cost and pretty fast delivery to your door.

  9. Post a photo of your Consumer Unit with the lid off (care please) and we can see what you actually have.
  10. The kits do include cylindrical lenses to check for simple astigmatism as demonstrated in the linked video. But as noted in the OP these checks are not to be taken as a replacement for the services of a qualified optometrist.
  11. You could try measuring the AC voltage between E and N at the CU whilst you have some load on (make some tea and run the A/C). If it's more than a few volts I'd be tempted to add a link although I doubt you have any actual safety issue as-is. With such an old building I would not be at all surprised if an "upgrade" in the past made a N-E link in your meter room.
  12. My uncorrected vision seems to have a rather small range of distances where things are in-focus and in both eyes it's best for stuff that's close, really close (about to 30 to 55cm for my left eye and 15 to 20cm on the right) hence these being my "computer" specs, my "driving" ones are rather thicker on the right. Hopefully this is just age related and nothing serious. Maybe it is time to go to the Eye Hospital 😞 EDIT I do recall that when I got my first pair of specs back in 2004 the optician said I was "just" legal to drive in the UK uncorrected (yes, I went to Specsavers). Now I would be hard pushed to find the car without my specs
  13. Yeah, exactly my problem all the lens swapping at something approaching lightspeed confuses my brain and I end up with less-than-ideal prescriptions. I also have "reading", "computer" and "driving" glasses with the driving ones as sunnies (my old driving glasses are still ok for use on the rare occasions I drive at night).
  14. Very good point. Houses generally, condos are likely TN-S (like yours appears to be and our old one was) so there wouldn't usually be a N-E link in the CU. That said, the instructions that come with the CU don't differentiate and I'd lay odds that a Thai sparks would provide a N-E link at the unit anyway. Since they are already linked at the transformer there really is no difference electrically.
  15. A semi-serious post in The Pub? What is the world coming to? I wondered where to put this as it's not really something for the DIY forum and medical doesn't get visited by many healthy people, so The Pub it is. Important Note: - The following is posted for interest and checking that your current prescription is still accurate, it is not intended to replace the services of a qualified optometrist. I bought this kit https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004379688649.html and this test frame https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i4996887671-s21089103452.html (the "free" frame with the kit is pretty carp and fixed at 60mm PD [Pupillary Distance, I'm 66mm]), you'll also need an eye chart https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i4942418162-s20771918184.html. I did measurements for "computer" and "driving" and ordered a couple of cheap pairs from Zenni (they have an online PD measuring system too). Waving the lenses around yourself is far less stressy than the optometrist asking "is this better, and now, how about now?". It also demonstrated that the prescription for my right eye has changed somewhat since my last test a couple of years back. If it changes significantly in the next few months, it's time for a visit to the eye hospital methinks.
  16. Yes. EDIT I'm assuming a house here, see the comments below. Check out this diagram from PEA, note the routing of the incoming neutral via the ground bar, this is the way to do it if you wish to pass PEA/MEA inspection. My translations.
  17. Yeah, really small units are as common as hen's teeth 😞 I'd just get a 9,000 BTU inverter unit, it will throttle itself once your space is down to temperature. It's also worth noting that such a small space may lose a lot of its cooled air when someone opens the door so a bit of extra cooling could well be useful.
  18. I just completed this quiz. My Score 40/100 My Time 105 seconds

  20. I would be very careful with going Huawei. Not because they are junk, they are very good, but because they use a proprietary high-voltage battery which are $$$ and no after-market versions available.
  21. Yeah, I suppose it depends when you went to High School. Certainly when I was of that age it was "liquid" (ish), it's certainly pretty runny when it comes out of volcanoes as magma / lava. But back then then it was Crust, Mantle, Outer Core, Inner Core. I'll let anyone who answered Core score an extra answer. The prize will be increased by an appropriate percentage.
