After reading this very disturbing report today, which says “Cochliomyia, New World Army Screw Worm Flies thrive in hot and tropical countries ” I just wondered if they have ever been known to show up like this in a human is anywhere in Asia?

I am in Soi Yume and up until yesterday there was an enormous pile of garbage bags and full bins. Thankfully it's gone now but I have noticed the night before that even a long Second near the junction of Klang the smell was disgusting from uncollected garbage and I thought about all the extra tourists that would be here during the long weekend.

Having gone through this exercise myself last year I can tell you categorically the answer is no, particularly if your estate outside Thailand includes real estate. If it does, you definitely need to engage a lawyer regarding those interests outside Thailand.

I didn't know about Palladium actually?
Although it probably wasn't a choice for me because I only had one done on a front tooth which I accidentally broke when I fell over. I was given a choice of standard Crown which includes part metal , which would have cost 6000 or all porcelain , which was 12,000, and I chose all porcelain.
I highly recommend Dr. Suwat Weereerat at Dental Loft Clinic because he is one of the most skilful dentists I have ever come across, compared to ones I have attended in America, Australia and in the UK, particularly the way he very skilfully and painlessly administers anaesthetic needles .

too bad it wasn't yaba! they don't aprove of dangerous drugs like pot here. lol
Are you an idiot?
You've never hear of Thailand's attitude about drugs?
By the way..Thanks, you make all farangs look bad...and stupid!
What a load of ******
How many people here haven't had a smoke of cannabis in their home country when it was illegal. It is also a harmless drug especially compared to something like alcohol.
What a load of ******
Obviously some people here don't even have enough intelligence to recognise if you are caught the difference between the justice system and the way you will be treated in this country compared to your home in the West?
-
yes but just consider how much the poor buggers in America have to pay
Compared to Europe, crowns made of metal are offered much less frequently in the U.S. When metals are employed, more expensive materials such as titanium are usually used. Consequently, metal crowns made in the United States are only slightly cheaper than ceramic or metal-ceramic solutions. Cheap metal crowns are rare and start at US$600; most cost between US$800 – US$1,000.
Ceramic crowns are the most recommended crown material in the United States and are used more than any other option. They cost slightly more than metal crowns, ranging on average between US$900 – US$1,300 USD. In special cases, a crown may cost up to 1,700 USD.
And I just want to add i reckon it represents value for money because I consider the dentists in Thailand have a much better appreciation regarding aesthetics and colour than the average dentist in the West.

The article goes on to say:
'Mr. Anurak claimed he did not notice the bridge in front of him, which was only 2.8 metres high above ground, as he was focusing with the leading car. Moments later, his tour bus, height 3.3 metres, crashed squarely into the bridge.'
'
What was he looking at …………….the numberplate of the car in front?

All government offices and banks wil be closed. Effective from B.E. 2550 onwards, the Asarnha Bucha Day is prescribed as a holiday, in replacement of the Buddhist Lent Day.
http://portalseven.com/calendar/Holidays_Thailand.jsp#page=holidayList
In the calendar on your link it shows only Monday 22nd and, not Tuesday 23?

I saw the sign on the door at the immigration office today that said the office would be closed on the following two dates.
Monday, 22 July 2013
Asalha Puja is a Buddhist festival takes place on the full moon of the eighth lunar month. It commemorates the Buddha’s first sermon.Tuesday, 23 July 2013
This day marks the beginning of the Buddhist ‘lent’ period. Buddhist Lent is a time devoted to study and meditation.is there any way to find out if these dates likely to apply to the driving licence centre as well? I don't want to travel out there and then find its closed because it's quite a distance out and I can't seem to find a contact number for them.

as stated already its for the Thai style speed boats ( the kind that you cannot see where you are heading as the bow is too high. Hence so many deaths from swimmers being run over.) to be parked as they are an unsightly mess when they are pulled out of the water and parked all over the place along the shore line.
No one is going to buy a condo where they are going to drive through the mess of spilt oil and fuel along the frontage. I wonder what plans the Condo developers have to get rid of the 300 hundred coaches that park up all over Bali Hi...?
The place stinks of oil. I wonder if they are going to spend money to improve the pathway alongside the waterfront and the lighthouse area?

If it was really a genuine iPhone... maybe the insides were fake parts with a 'genuine' iPhone exterior. TONS of fakes floating around China, and Thailand for that matter.
we will soon find out......................
Her sister then wrote on social networking site Weibo: 'I want to warn everyone else not to make phone calls when your mobile phone is recharging.'
She said Ma had bought the iPhone in December at an official Apple store and was using the original charger to recharge the phone when the incident occurred.
Miss Ma's brother, Yuelun, told Apple Daily that the family believe she died from an electric shock while answering a call and that the phone and its accessories have been handed over to the Chinese authorities.

Chiang Mai heads high speed train listNot at all surprising, unfortunately. The rail system is in shocking condition and desperately needs upgrading, never mind the high speed project.
is there any reason to expect/hope for higher maintenance standards if there was a high-speed link?
Don't know where you got your information but there is no High speed train to Chiang Mai or plans for it. The government has talked about building one part way. No plans other than it is only going to be part way and that depends on some one loaning them 2.2 Trillion baht. The rest of the way is not in their plans they figure some business will do the next two stages.
A high-speed line to Chiang Mai is a rumor started by the Government to make it look like they are doing some thing sensible. As I said they have no plans to do it.
Even if they did build one it would not pay it's way as there is hardly any demand to justify that kind of money.
CHIANG MAI, 14 January 2013: Thailand’s Chiang Mai, the main gateway to the country’s northern destinations, will be the first city to gain a high speed train service from Bangkok.
Chiang Mai governor, Thanin Supasaen, said: “The project is expected to be completed in three years.”
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has already approved the high speed railway project called northern land port, which was officially presented to her by the Chiang Mai governor.
Once the project is completed, it will turn Chiang Mai into a transportation and logistics hub for the entire north and strengthen the city’s role as the second largest city after Bangkok.
The rail service is expected to be ready by 2017.

Not at 1,000 baht !!! I can get better rides for that money.
you are joking! What a rip-off and It doesn't actually go that high
If you really need to see the view you could try to slip one of the security guards 500 baht at one of the many other buildings in this city which are a lot higher and ask them if you can go on the roof to see the view.

It's quite possible that someone else near where I live has lodged a complaint because since the day I posted this question there hasn't been any more noise and it's like a graveyard at night.
-
Forget complaining to the police, the best option is to complain to the Pollution Control Dept:
http://www.pcd.go.th/indexeng.cfm
We have used them before for complaints in Bangkok and they responded very quickly and soon sorted out noise problems.
thanks i will give them a try

I'm confused
in the media Link in the original post it says the following
The teenager allegedly stabbed Siriporn on June 21 in a restroom inside the company in the Bang Rak district. Siriporn sustained over 20 stab wounds to her torso, but was well enough to point out her perpetrator in a recent lineup.
But in the Pattaya Daily News link it says
The arrest happened after two men had murdered the manager right in the office, she was reported to have stabbed over 20 times by the hired murderers.

The German President, Joachim Gauck, concluded in a recent interview, that the NSA was not to be compared with the Stasi, because, [paraphrasing] "it is not like it was with the Stasi, where there exist big filing cabinets in which all our conversations are written down."

Why don't you say to her if she doesn't give you the full amount back you will open the case with the consumer protection board?
