Tourists travelling less but spending more in luxury Thai tourism
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
That is a nice resort and prices can go waaay over what they state here. I'd sooner do a couple grand on a Phra-Ae or Nui beach resort and blow the balance on hedonism. -
If there's one thing that makes my blood boil about this place it is the likes of that school being uncooperative when something serious has happened... because of the potential to lose face. Sincerely hope this kid gets some retribution not only on the perpetrators but also the F director of this shiity school. Aholes the lot of em!

Aggressive Taxi Drivers that hang around outside hotels.
daveAustin replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Motorbike taxi and tuk-tuk drivers (esp in Phuket) can be shady and aggressive, but wouldn't say so wholesale. One tends to attract how one rolls. Perhaps the op needs to chill out a bit or perhaps lay off the sauce. -
What a pathetic bunch of little children the Chinese machine is. I hope the Thai media told these little kids to go and do one. Yeah, right!

2 More Thai Workers Dead, One More Taken Hostage
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
^^^ That's pretty much what they seem to be doing now! And it's that kind of comment that has people losing sympathy for Israel. -
Myth perpetrated by donkeys, little boys and simpletons from certain climes trying to be funny. All stems from a particular ale which was taken at room temp many many moons ago, but I can assure you Brits will only drink lager as cold as anywhere, and beer (you probably don’t know what that is) at the optimum temp. As for this new LAGER, anything to challenge the ‘big three’ lol can only be good thing.

Really? Have always found it has more character and class than most any other Thai city of comparable size--the mountain, the moat, the malls, the green spaces, northern architecture, leafy old town lanes, stunning temples, great cafes, close airport. Most other Thai cities are incredibly bland in comparison. I wouldn't stress too much, just find an area and try it out then come back for a few months. If it doesn't work out, move on. You likely won't scratch the surface going here and there. This area around Sakorn Residence is nice and within walking/riding distance of town:

^^^ This is it. If you want to be of use to the forum, check that big ego and self-congratulatory look-at-everything-I-have-done/know tat and chuck up some pics with minimal (READ: less wordy) descriptions with the end user in mind. You will get better feedback and be appreciated. One of the absolute best topics TV ever had is the abandoned buildings thread.

Using dollars in Cambodia is stupid
daveAustin replied to MrPancake's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
All told, unless you’re just drinking Angkor dishwater all day, found Cam to be as or more expensive than Thailand. -
It has been busy like that with farangs for at least 25 years.

Thai Mercenaries Are Not Fighting For Israel: Ministry
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Scott Ritter would beg to differ. According to him they are unmotivated nowadays with little training or conditioning and the military doesn’t really know what it’s doing. Nice dig at Thai people. 🫤 -
Do you find women boring after a while?
daveAustin replied to bignok's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yes, I find women to be boring in general. Rare to come across a witty and intelligent one with looks. Then again, people in general are pretty flaky and boring. -
Is it me or Phnom Penh is actually kinda expensive ?
daveAustin replied to MrPancake's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Considering the place is a dump, everything is too expensive. First night there I got robbed, though caught the b’stards. Siem Reap is ok, but PP cannot hold a candle to Bangkok. If I had to, I’d sooner go back home than live in PP. A proper shiithole. -
Don’t have the time to read that. The negativity (esp about Thais) is a real drag, but c’mon guys it’s a forum about living in Thailand, not a law firm or a kindergarten. TV (and certain mods) takes itself way too seriously at times. A lot better when you had it and pre-2010, George.

Miss Universe owner files for bankruptcy in Thailand
daveAustin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Most comments (boomers probably) will deride the op pic; like you guys would have the chance 😂. -
What topic would you like to discuss?
daveAustin replied to bignok's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
This forum was set up to help people garner visa and travel info and to connect. Unfortunately it morphed into a freeforall with addicts posting tat about their boring lives. What people don’t want is contrived topics with these serial niks answering themselves. Go for a walk. Play golf etc. -
It was always there, bruv, you just happened to happen upon it properly.

4 Ex-Cops Get 5-Year Prison Terms for Extorting Taiwanese Celebrity
daveAustin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes it does happen all the time but this is still a big deal. Don’t want Thailand going too ‘normal’ but perhaps a precedent of things to come. -
Not in my town, normal and staid as ever, but if you go looking for it you're bound to find it in any big city in the West.
