  1. Racist post and reply removed from view. Don't paint all with the same brush.

unfortunatly it seems they do it ,but never get condemed by their own people for doing it .sometimes the truth hurts.

  2. Went to Big C and to Extra yesterday........... No Pepsi of any kind and No Coke Zero........

passed and stopped at 4 Tesco Express shops on the way home, all did have, I bought all they had, so at least have 44 bottles to be going on with..

So this new stuff you see advert of 'EST', to replace Pepsi anyone seen it ? do they have Sugar Free ?

Blimey ,this is the second old thread of mine that has come back to life in the last few days ,go to tesco they have loads.

  3. Just need to regularly watch the News Clippings part of the Pattaya Forum to see how many accidents involve expats. Definite room for improvement

Dont be silly Farang drivers are much better than Thais, especially on motorbikescheesy.gif

  4. It was 1989 ,i had been persuaded to come here on holiday ,i intended to come for 7 days but was told that it was not worth it so made it 12 days ,arrived in don meung and got a minibus down to a place in n Pattaya , my first evening i got all dressed up to go to a bar ,but stopped for some food in a German beer garden on second rd (long gone) was informed by the owner that there was no need to dress up ,and that you dont have to be good looking to get a girl here , he also gave me the best piece of advice ,dont believe any of the tales the girls tell you.

12 days later with tears in my eyes i left ,only to return 6 weeks later ,i still know the young girl i met ,she is now married with kids .

i couldnr believe how much fun it was and how happy everyone seemed ,eventually i stopped coming and went to Bangkok instead where i had a buisness ,met my now wife. we lived in the UK for many years but 7 years ago went full circle and came back to Pattaya , our son now goes to uni in Bangkok, happy days.

to the person who persuaded me to come, thank you.

  5. The problem with many condo blocks ,especially at the lower end is that what will they be like in 10/15 years time ,loads that i have seen look terrible and i for one would never live there ,obviously there are some good condo blocks ,but what happens when you want to sell?

  6. got to love the logic put forward by the authorites...a gang of rogue electricans are doing this because the cables were live....rolleyes.gif

One suspects a competant electrician would be able to nick the cables wihout getting himself electrocuted, and one suspects an electrician will make more money off actually doing electrical work than what they would get for the scap value of 50m of copper cable...

My opinion a gang of yahoo's with an aluminum ladder and a hacksaw...biggrin.png ....seen the net result of this in Africa, two gentlemen attempted to nick some live 6.6kv cable with a hacksaw and aluminum ladder, as always with safety first thing in one of the gentleman's minds...he held the aluminum ladder for his collegue with hacksaw, so the ladder didnt fall over, but didnt work out too well for either of them...rolleyes.gif

The photo in this article shows great electrical safety practices I see...is that a steel or aluminum ladder I see....whistling.gif

nice to see he has his hard hat on...but is that flip flops he has on his feet...?

Actually you would probably find that almost all workers in Thailand use bamboo ladders. You are correct about the flip flops though, but they are made of rubber so provide great insulation.

I love the statement that the thieves avoided the security guard. Walk in with a 5 m bamboo ladder and enough tools to disconnect the cable, then roll up 50 m (probably weighed as much as one of the thieves) of high voltage cable and head back out without the security guard noticing. clap2.gif

Come on ,he has to catch up on his sleep sometime so that he can do his day jobbiggrin.png

  7. Another fond memory i had was for the outdoor bars up by soi 1 in north Pattaya ,one of the bars was run by a policeman his wife and her mother ,the mother used to like me and was always feeding me ,everyone then did seem far more friendly ,but i must admit as a familly man living here it is far better now with all the shops and restaurants ,shame about the traffic ,and its nice to be able to pop up to Bangkok so quickly .

  8. My wife and i both lived in the UK for over 5 years and she has an NI number ,also she usede to get child allowance ,we were also married in the uk and i have full ni payments ,does that entitle her to a pension? sorry about the underlining ,it just does it ,dont know why.

Almost certainly yes, I would bet on it, but there's an address further back for you to write to if you want to be certain.

    THANKS

  9. you can stay in the cold in Britain being ripped off ,spied on by speed cameras ,unable to park without taking out a loan ,frightened to have one drink and drive safe in the knowledge that you will be able to go to hospital free ,or spend your last years in the sun having a great quality of life while it lasts.

anyway as Woody Allen said "i' me not afraid to die i just dont want to be there when it happens'

  10. You pay for medicine here. no free consultations or treatments. Either the Government hospital or private. medical insurance is very much a requirement.

This is the one thing I cant understand about a lot of farangs in Thailand....they move to a foreign country and have no recourse to free medical services/treatment and yet they dont take out any form of medical insurance

Thats all very well to say ,but who will insure someone who is in their late 60s? when i came here 7 years ago the cheapest insurance i could get (and that did not cover pre existing ) was over two thousand pounds a year ,so if i am now taken ill i have that 14 thousand pounds to use.

No medical insurance policy will cover a pre-existing condition, whether your 60 or 21....if somebody ends up with a serious medical condition were one doesnt have recourse to free medical treatment one ruin themselves financially literally in a heart beat.

14, 000 quid is not a great deal of money in circumstances like this even in Thailand once you start paying for medical treament and what happens if you land in ICU here, no insurance, no money, then what ?

One assumes you are from the UK and you could argue you would go back to the UK for treatment, but if you are in an ICU and need a "medical" flight to the UK, who is going to pay for that, as a lot of airlines will not touch somebody unless their accompanied by a doctor..etc

A lot of TV posters suggest Thai's are "stupid" because they dont think about tomorrow, but one could suggest the same thing of large numbers farangs, certainly of the typical age demographic who live in Thailand that dont provide or make provision for medical treatment in the country they are living in....I just cant figure that one out

I did not say i had "only" 14 thousand pounds ,just that was what i had saved so far by not having insurance,i can afford all costs ,but what i said was that you cannot get insurance over a certain age .

  12. A bit offtopic but still connected, my father-in-law gave me a couple of rolls of 8mm footage of Pattaya in what I think is early 80's. I'd love to digitize it and if the content is ok, publish it in youtube. Anyone know where I could have it digitized in Pattaya ?

I tried to get this done a year or so ago and was told "only in Bangkok"

  13. I have a notebook and a laptop but for home use its the desktop for me ,far more reliable nice large screen to watch a movie ,as for the other two in the home you can insert them where the sun dont shine .

why would you want to watch a movie from a desktop when a dedicated media player like the wdtv live or a laptop would allow you to watch in comfort on a TV?

Actually i wasnt thinking when i wrote this ,my brain was out for a clean, i do watch movies on the tv ,just plug in a usb ,thumbsup.gif

  14. When i first came here girls were 500 baht all night but you could barter the price down, and it was always a problem trying to get them to leave in the morning ,i remember being shocked when i went to a bar and a girl came up to me ,she looked young and i asked her age ,14 she said i just thanked her and went to get one of the old uns ,(at least19) and i remember a place called school days ,i think and there were schoolgirls outside calling you in all the girls were so young but i did go out with one about 29 ,when she took me back to her room her daughter about 15 was off out to work in a bar . Every girl i met was looking for a husband to take them abroad ,strange days

  15. Oh i get it chiangmai ,your trying to get lots of posts ,well we all know your a troll , but hey ,i still like pulling your chain ,and as for not being out in the sun ,this is my time on the computer ,early morning ,and evening .

I'm not a troll, heck I am a ray of intellectual sunshine here on Thai Visa. A troll would be starting a thread about how to spell Farang or another where to find girls who do the laundry by hand thread. I am giving you information you can use. You can invest. You can start a business. You can be successful like me.smile.png I don't have to work for some pirate offshore. I am self sufficient here in Thailand with my family and dogs and such.

I am succesfull and dont have to work ,havnt for over 12 years ,just enjoy my life with my familly and spend my money.

anyway bored now let just leave it at thatcoffee1.gif
