The petitioners claimed by Industry Minister Chakkramont used to be a shareholder in the Akkara mining company or Akkara Resources gold-mining company and a board director of CIMB bank which is key financier of the mining business.

Mr Suvichak was earlier sacked by the military junta and put in inactive post at the Prime Minister’s Office.
What the hell is a inactive post at the Prime Ministers Office?

Meanwhile, Mr. Panthep said the NACC is "urgently" working to wrap up its investigation into former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s alleged failure to prevent widespread corruption in her government’s rice pledging scheme.
Hope they get then also a 35% discount afterwards for the rice scheme.
That would then be around 300 billion baht.
300.000.000.000- 1

Mr. Yongyut has also quoted General Prayuth that the ministers must be able to perform their duties up to their best ability or else they could be dismissed from their posts. ......
and the stolen and misappropriated funds are withdrawn (seized) , plus interest, plus money penalty and plus prison
for thieves of public funds (corruption).
An end to impunity for criminals! -
Transparency has to be 'before the fact' not 'after the fact'. All government bids should be published in the major Thai newspapers with the bids open to inspection by the public. When the bid is finally awarded, the award should be noted to the public as well -- along with the reason why the bid was accepted. Transparency is not a complicated process.
It is simply impossible to do that. There is not enough room in any three newspapers to do that. But there's lots of information online. These croo.... people at the Department of Public Works actually have quite an informative website including massive information on this microphone scam. It's not lack of information that's at the root of the problem but oversight and accountability. The assigned people are in on it, and the public is too la... doesn't have the time.
If you want to start making them accountable, here's your starting point:
The one live link at the bottom goes to the multi-page documents on this particular microphone case. The tabs reveal thousands of other procurements big and small.
.....Transparency has to be 'before the fact' not 'after the fact'.
.... oversight and accountability.
And you need honest officials in the control functions.
Where are these people?
Why the honest officials do not come in key leadership positions?
As long as the corrupt officials are allowed to keep their stolen money and they have not to fear strong penalties,
then the honest officials are the stupid fools.
Or really all corrupt here?
Hope not.

As long as in the schools / universities are no constructive and critical discussions, the learning progress will always remain small.
To make an error is a great shame and often a loss of face.So better, as a student you make nothing or you buy the solution papers for the tests. The concept to learn from mistakes is entirely foreign to Thai.Edison has had over 1000 failed attempts before he finally invented the light bulb. What remains, is to learn only with misunderstood memorization. -

The Country lost 500 million....Isn't that about the same amount of money Thaksin borrowed off the Russians, for that construction project in Dubai that went belly up and the investors lost everything.
The Russians would still want to be payed back plus interest of course.
Just throwing it out there what do you think?
Wish they had lost only 500 millions
The Country lost 500 - 700 billions with the rice scam.
The 500 Million was the heist from Nimon, Ruangwan and Somkid co-owned a Kasikornbank savings account No 001-0-03796-9. Bank records show money being transferred to this account in the morning and being withdrawn in the afternoon.
The state has failed to get even one baht back until today.
The criminals are allowed to keep their booty, even if they are caught.

They must do reforms for changes: Simply to rule out, that criminals can run the country.I.They must urgently change the law that exclude all persons from the Parliament, from electoral lists and from civil servant posts, whicha have criminal records.b running free on bail (mandatory suspension until the sentence in the last instance is present)c were already banned from parliament in the past.d against are corruption / crime cases opened (mandatory suspension until the sentence in the last instance is present)No criminals and/or corrupt people in government, parliament or as a civil servant!II.Like for all future budgeting processes they make it compulsory for all future governments, that- the use of money for project proposals are accurately represented in detail and coherent on the last baht.- the use of money for project proposals is described in detail for all people publicly documented and visible- Public monthly or quarterly reports on Finance and project progresses.- Public invitation for project proposals and at least three competitive compare offers.- Project completion reports including all expenses with receipts.- a strong supervisory committee composed of members is formed by all parties,to control the entire investment process without disabilities and time delay restrictions. The results of the process and progress checks are presented to the parliament. The members of the supervisory body should rotate so that corruption is impossible or more difficult. When public funds are used, then the public has the right to see what the representatives of the people plan to do with the money and how it was used.It must be prevented that a country can be completely plundered by a few unethical people just because they are currently in power.III.- Strengthen the independent monitoring bodies.- Decentralization of authorities, including the police- Introduction of a independent tax police, which checks all unexplained asset increases.- Change in the bail system.- Fast processing of 25.000 open corruption cases- Abolition of the immunity of Members of Parliament- Fixed periods for court proceedings. (Indictment to judgment within 90 days)

It's a pity.
The rules for the award of public contracts must be reformed urgently.
The loss of confidence is high now.- 2

Earlier the department had cracked two major forgery gangs but they were engaged only in issuing fake tax invoices to companies doing business in the country in the construction and production industries. Loss from the fake invoices was about two billion baht, he said, and added that government officials were suspected to have connection with these gangs.
So the state (the public) got the 2.000.000.000 Baht back?
Yes or no?
That is the interesting part here!
Unfortunately, there is in the article not a single sentence were this money is now!
Same with the rice scheme money.
Same with the super cars.
Same with the flood managment money.
etc.
Never a word about the remaining of the stolen money.- 2

600 million stolen and a fine between 2.000 to 200.000 baht
seems about right in thainess economics
Even if the state get the 600 million back, the money maximum sentence is a joke.
The interest alone with 2,5% were already 15 Million Baht per year!!!

There are far fewer Russian tourists this year here.- 3

Anyone who is in the public service must declare his assets. In parallel they should establish an independent tax police, which check if the actual assets match with the declared assets.Furthermore, they should set up an anonymous phone line / website, where unusual or unexplained increase in assets can be reported.Convicted corrupt officials must give back the stolen state assets plus imprisonment without parole. In my opinion, the only way to combat the corruption cesspool in public offices.

a Multi-million dollar company can own 100%. There are several ways for large companies to own 100% of their company. Me and my foreign partners own 100% of our company. We have BOI but started out with the Amity treaty for US citizens. If you dont know there are already very large companies with factories here in Thailand. Everyone from BASF, Nestle, Kraft, Toyota, Phelps Dodge, Goodyear etc etc. Thailand has a very large industrial sector with world wide companies. Also Thailand's GDP is about 100 Billion more than Singapore. So I dont think Thailand needs to learn anything from Singapore. As far as I know Western countries let Thai companies set up companies in their country would it not be fairer to let Western companies open here with full Western ownership. If you are a multi-million dollar company why would you want to have over 50% owned by foreigners in their own country. Thailand needs to start looking at the richest country in the world and fellow Asean member, Singapore, if Thailand wants to increase investment. I would never, never set up a company here with current rules.
You are right with the Amity treaty with a special regulation for US citizens. Also for the multi-million dollar companys like next VW.
Good for you. But it is also about the small and medium investors from other countrys.
And here the investment conditions are not good!

Foreign Business Act from 1999
Annex 3Businesses in which Thais are not yet prepared for competition with Foreigners.
So after 15 years the Thai companies are still not become competitive.
What are the reasons probably?
Easy.
No competition, no progress- 14

Friendlier for foreign investorsShe added that the amended law should make the environment friendlier for foreign investors and streamline business regulations. Moreover, Thailand should be able to compete under the coming regional integration, which will allow other Asean countries to hold up to 70 per cent of some service businesses.
For non-Asean foreigners it is better then to open a company with 100% share in Malaysia, Philippines or Cambodia and then become active as Asean LTD in Thailand.- 34

no interference in justice systemYes what else she can hope for.
Until to date corrupt officials and politicians in thailand have nothing to fear. The penalties, if it ever comes to a conviction, are a joke.Free on bail, appeal, counter-claim, sentence reduction, transfer to an inactive post and then case closed. Also they have no problem to send a condemn criminal on the run a new passport and 30 Billion Baht. -
To: chotthee
Theoretical yes.European companies for example must also submit reference lists of previous projects.Likewise, the founding date of the company.Scam and nepotism in public projects is currently too easy in Thailand.- 1

Personally, Mr Somkiat said he agreed with Mr Nipon that the rice pledging scheme was a problematic policy because it didn’t help the poor at the right cause of the problem; it destroyed the rice trading mechanism which worked just fine; and it caused widespread corruption that the NACC should find out the culprits for punishments.
What a windbag.
