  1. "The economists are right in noting that the scheme would be a first step in getting all Thais into the tax system. To be eligible for tax credit, everyone - street vendors, small farmers, motorcycle taxi drivers, etc - will need to file tax forms."

    Wrong way.
It should first submit all tax reports - files - forms, which
have more then 100 rai land
or/and have more then 10 Million Baht in Accounts ( or stock exchange suitable securities)
or /and Income more than 3 million in a year after costs.

Think that would be more easy.

  2. 10 billion baht for farmers.

Now another 6 billion baht to prop up the rubber price.

These guys are going to outspend the PTP before they even get their cabinet appointed.

I would not support this such.

Old gov. cash out in two years

1000 Billion for rice (where is this money?)

+ 350 Billion for flood - water - management (where is this money?)

    Total 1.350 Billion / 24 = 56,25 Billion per month.

But the interest rates for the needy farmers are too high.

  3. This has got to stop, absolutely ridiculous if it is 80 then its 80 baht. this guy wants sacking if it is his decision, there is ample rake off from the lottery takings to pay all a commission.

Potato crisps (LAY brand) marked on the packet at, example 30 baht. got 30 baht to give the shop keeper she said NO 40 baht because this is in the Udon Airport building---SO WHAT ?? Bali Hi pier Pattaya mini mart, 30 baht marked---sell at 40.

It should be illegal to do this whether it is lottery or goods.............another off topic but where the law is not applied when the police raid a place and grab 2 female prostitutes, as it is illegal in Thailand??. All these side winding things have to be seen to.

Go together with your thaifriends in a national park.

Then you know what a price range (spread) of 1000% is, ...... for the same good.

My Thai friends were clearly embarrassed.

  4. No more "beer girls"
    Yes ok, no more,
the 50.000 beer girls country wide are enough

Yes, Painters paint, thinners and paint strippers should be made as harmful and not drinkable identified.
No old bottles of wines or beer can be used to decorate a business
Yes, it's a shame good, old (properly stored) wine only for decorative purposes to use. Old stale beer should be disposed and not being sold.
    No happy hours promotions
Yes, many advertise a happy hour, but charging inflated prices for drinks
It is better to have the whole evening happy prices than stingy 1-2 hours.
Promoting alcohol through word of mouth is also illegal
Yes, I know a few who can speak in swallowing.
    If you drink stop talking.
No alcohol logos are allowed on glasses, ashtrays and other paraphernalia
Yes, I find the sight of sweating foreigners in dirty Chang, Singha and Leo underwear shirts/vests unbearable.
I feel only sorry for the craftsman who builds these little Tuk Tuk models from old beer cans.
Maybe they could create an exemption for him?
Punishments of up to six months in jail for various offences
Yes, Punishment up to six months in jail for J.C., who made wine out of water.

  5. Wonder when they gonna ban fun as a whole? This country is turning into a hyper-conservative, puritan, boring copy of a typical muslim country under Sharia law, but with a buddhist touch... Never felt as uneasy and tense here than over the past year. It looked great first when Suthep was stopped in his tracks, farmers got payed, mafia-alike structures were dismantled, etc. but then priorities changed to first attack the foreign tourism, foreign investment and expat sector, then a beach cleanup pushing thousands of Thai vendors into oblivion without options and now it seems like fun in general is next, instead of tackling the biggest problem that could bring Thailand to its knees which is the unrest and bombings in the deep south. I thought Thailand was under military leadership? Why is nothing done to eliminate the radical subjects in Yala, Narathiwat, etc.? Priorities in Thailand by now are so out of tune that it hurts in the ears of anyone who still can think straight. Getting really angry, need to stop... sorry sad.png

    I must agree with you.
Is this the reform process to bring back peace, unity and happyness?
  6. What a shame.
On the one hand they want to fight corruption,
on the other hand they now open a new great door for it.
Prohibition helps predominantly only the criminals.

To try to solve the alcoholism problem only with prohibitions, penalties and criminalization, will fail 100%
Behavioral changes are only sustainable through understanding and insight.

  7. 1350 pilots, isn't that a bit high for 200 aircraft?

    It's a question not a comment

    Our Aircraft
    Airbus 380-800
    No. of aircraft 5
    Boeing 747-400 744/ 74R/ 74N
    No. of aircraft 1/ 6/ 6
    Airbus 340-600
    No. of aircraft 6
    Boeing 777-300
    No. of aircraft 6
    Boeing 777-300ER
    No. of aircraft 8
    Boeing 777-200
    No. of aircraft 8
    Boeing 777-200ER
    No. of aircraft 6
    Airbus A330-300 333/ 330/ 33H
    No. of aircraft 12/ 8/ 7
    Airbus A300-600
    No. of aircraft 5
    Boeing 737-400
    No. of aircraft 5
    Total 89 * Crewfactor 4 = 356 * 2 = 712

For this calculation it is important to know the exact number of machines.
These total numbers I got from the Thai Airways website.
For short range they have no (fewest) machines.

    Nok Air's is domestic.

There are rumors that 200 pilots have changed company.

Every European tax official would give them a hard time
1300 up to 712 is no good.

  8. The conducted undercover-operation seems to be illegal in mass.
    1. Why the owner was arrested?
How can the owner know what his massage staff do with the customers upstairs?

    2. The undercover agents were probably foreigners.
Did they have an official work permit todo police work?

3 The Undercover agents have obviously tried with a very high amount of money (2000Baht) to bribe the massage girls to get the enjoyment-sexual services.
It is well known that many massage girls need extra money for their Families upcountry.
A shameless exploitation of this situation on the part of these semi-legal "undercover" agents.
4 I hope the owner sues these undercover agents for bribery attempt on his staff.
5 Furthermore, the owner could sue the police for defamation.
  9. dominated businesses such as restaurants, laundry services, Thai massage, tour guides and spas?

    They're mostly all small businesses.
How many of them have only open a shop to get a 1 year Business Visa?
Many are under 50 yo, not married with a thai, doesen´t want to work as staff 50 hours a week for other or can´t get a work permit in there field.
Easy, go to a lawyer, pay and then comes your LTD with one work permit.
For this reason, many operate a simple business, coz they must have 4 thais on the payroll.
So they rent some space, opened a restaurant, Thai massage, travel agency, .....
Make these little shops here astronomical profits? I think not.
Quite the contrary, many subsidize their loss-making businesses.

Others have bought land with their company.
Many already retired who want to enjoy their twilight years in peace on their little plot.

So many are worried because of this witch-hunt.
Now they are trying to criminalize - non asean- foreigners.

The country sets the legal framework.
    There is a legal loophole.
This was heartily used by foreigners and their Thai lawyers.
Ok, the loophole should be closed now.
I miss really a clear course of action.
Everyone interprets the laws here, as it just fits into their own populist agenda.
Investment security, especially for smaller investors, has here no clear standard.
Unfortunately, there is no investor-friendly environment, only antiquated business, visa and labor laws.

All ministries cook their own soup.
But a coherent overall concept is not present.
  10. Thai Nominee Shareholding Crackdown in Pattaya announced by DSI

Such messages certainly do not promote the investment climate.

It's not like the DSI fights organized crime and money laundering here,

but going against the little ones, like family shops, restaurants, bars, travel agencies, diving schools, language schools, etc.

The advice can only be: Do not start any business with a LTD, if your have not 3 active Thai partners with equal captal.

To open a business with 100% Foreign capital is calculated then only for the investor 49% business share.

From a business perspective this is really moronic.

Sounds advise, but you are a few years too late

    Unfortunately, yes.
I feel pity for the small business owners, who believed their lawyers years ago.

  12. I went to my tailors today and have already ordered my yellow stars of David that the Thais will probably make us wear soon!

Unfortunately, the message comes up with this flavor:
All foreigners who want to make a life and live in Thailand longer: get out

We do not like you, we do not need your creativity and ideas,
but your money you are allowed to leave here.

What has improved lately for foreigners here?
    Any ideas?
  13. My wife is a Thai national; I am a USA national. We live in each country roughly six months per year. But the difference in the way we are treated by each other's native country is night and day. My wife travels in and out of the USA on her Thai passport never needing a Visa. She can work, own property, own businesses, go to school, whatever. She is protected against overt discrimination and welcomed as a tax-paying, contributing part of society. But no matter how long we are married, nor how long we are in Thailand, I can never do any of those things. We are both college educated experienced professionals; but she is welcomed and wanted in my country, and I never will be in hers. Xenophobic or not, it's just plain dumb.

Some for us here in europe.

My wife can work, can own land, can open a business, get health insurance and a pension.

After 3 years she can get a citizenship, get a passport and can vote,
